Character Name: Richard Grayson

Location: Gotham
Physical: Standing at 5'10" tall and 175lbs, Dick makes a rather handsome figure with his slightly too long hair and movie star smile. He is heavily muscled, though built more so like a dancer, and moves with grace that can not be hidden; it's as if he belongs more in the air than on the ground. While in uniform, he wears a black Nomex suit lined with Kevlar that is light reactive - in brighter ambient light, the darker the suit becomes. His mask has a built in radio receiver and Starlight night-vision on board. A bright blue slash of color makes a deep v over his chest and then extends down each arm to include his middle two fingers. He suit is reinforced with additional ballistic plates in his gauntlets, shoulders, mask and boots. When out of his costume, Dick tends to wear plain clothing - white t-shirts and fitted pants.
Abilities: Dick does not possess any metahuman abilities. He is blessed, however, with perhaps perfect genetics for what he does. Trained from a young age in the circus, Dick is stronger and faster than a normal human, and has an Olympic level acrobatics and gymnastic skill. He also is an Olympic level athlete, and has spent almost three decades fighting crime. His intuition is razor sharp, and his mind attuned to picking out details from the big picture. His detective and crime fighting skills rival those of Bruce Wayne, and he is a master of at least six separate martial arts styles. As a ward of Bruce Waynes during his childhood, he had the finest education and can speak fluently in English, French, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese and has some knowledge of Romany and the alien language of Tamaran. He also is quite skilled in escapology, disguise, criminal science and forensics. As the former Boy Wonder, what else would someone expect? Dick is also a brilliant strategist, and is well known (and liked) among the super hero circles. He is in contact with Bruce Wayne, though the two of them tend to have their ins and outs. Dick would never betray his adopted father, but they also don't often see eye to eye.
Weaknesses and flaws: In many ways, Dick is his own worst enemy. Deep emotional scars hinder him from letting others in too close, and most personal romantic relationships that Dick forges are subject to systematic failure. Often he sabotages them himself, when the person starts to get too close. Sometimes, the relationships are torn apart by his crime fighting duties, unable to take the stress of keeping Gotham safe. Dick's ability to connect with others also could be considered a weakness, for it is quite easy for him to fall into interest with someone. He's very much a "people person" and has little trouble getting dates. Which is part of the problem when his eye has strayed in the past... While most might see this as a strength, Dick's inability to deeply connect with anyone due to his psychological scarring is more certainly a flaw.
Backstory: Long ago, there was a boy named Dick. Dick was the beloved son of the Flying Graysons - a somewhat famous acrobatics family that toured with Haly Circus. Everything was great, at least if you asked Dick, until his father ran afoul of Two-Face, and Dick found himself watching both of his parents plumet to the ground in a double murder right before his eyes.

Forgotten in the legal system, Dick might have become another lost soul, if not for Bruce Wayne. All was not roses and ice cream with Wayne though, for the man seemed distant and almost cold. Ultimately Dick snuck out of the house one night, frustrated by the lack of attention from his new father figure. Imagine his surprise when he was apprehended investigating his parent's crime by none other than Batman! When Dick awoke, he found himself in the Bat Cave, and Bruce revealed himself to Dick and offered the kid a deal of a lifetime - join Batman and fight crime at his side.

Fast forward thirty years, past pain and loss.. past broken hearts and broken bones.. and you would find Dick Grayson, the man. All those years with Batman changed his life, and he's never quite been the same since. From that time as a child, he fought crime at Batman's side, and as he grew, so did his skills and abilities. At the age of seventeen, Dick suffered a shot in the shoulder from Joker, and was sidelined by Bruce out of fear for his young sidekick. Further stress between the two broke up the dynamic duo and gave Dick the room to spread his own wings and fly as Nightwing.

Nightwing, inspired by Krypton's finest super hero, became Dick's salvation and curse. Driven to fly the streets at night, Dick has never really settled down, never really started a family. His emotional scars, brought about by the trauma of his childhood, coupled with the hardships of fighting crime, have made sure that anyone Dick might bequeath his heart to will loose him far too quickly. A leader among the Justice League and Teen Titans, Dick has been an active and much-liked member of the super hero community for a very long time.
