Cthulu Rises
Out of the temple doors in the bay comes an ancient evil creature. It is Cthulu himself. He roars loudly then snatches up several cultists and eats them. The frightened screams of the others fill the air. His gaze turns to the shore and then he begins to walk.

His march towards the shore begins and he doesn't notice anything else just yet.

"AAAARRRRGGGGHHH!!!"

As the chaos energy hits him, he almost falters a second time, and the psychic side of his scream can be heard in San Diego - the physical merely on the other side of Oakland.
He feels the familiar tingling and pain suggesting something trying to fight its way up. He needs to remain calm, remain focused... but where is Cait? She's always been his rock, his center up til now. Without her he can't...

No, she's saving the world. He has to make sure there's a world to save. He has to, there is no one else.
Waves of violet energy emit from both hands, forcing the green energy back, but only milimeters away. A violet banishment circle begins to weave itself around Cthulhu's legs in the ocean floor. He doesn't seriously believe he can dismiss something this powerful, but he hopes he can delay and weaken it a little.

	He dares to use such a thing on the Great and Mighty Cthulu? Well, of course he does. "RAAAAAAWWWWWR!" He yells loudly as he feels some of his power taken from him. It hurts Cthulu to have his power widdled away at like this. He shimmers and fades back towards the temple for the moment. This is to keep the circle from stealing more of his power from him. Cait's voice reassures him, dims the sensation of loss of control down for the moment.

//Thanks, love. Don't worry about me now. Your task is more important, and I won't be able to help you.//
He's grateful for her help, but he knows she'll need to focus her will, not be distracted by him, not give into her impulse to help him. He wishes it were otherwise.

With Cthulhu retreating, he presses his assault. He won't win this, can never win this, but he's just a delaying tactic anyway. Soaring higher, over the elder god, he calls upon the power of six gods, newer, the children of the Titans, but raw, divine power nonetheless, moving out of the way at the last second so the bolt is directed into Cthulhu and the bay around him.

"SHAZAM!"

The called upon power of five gods against one from past everything humans could understand had an interesting affect. The body lights up as if Cthulu just got flash fried in a cartoon. After all it had to translate somehow for the human mind.

"RAAAAAWR!" He rises out of the water glowing green and aims a fist at Ty. He misses in his anger and bites at the air wanting to consume the young human. It would be the best way to get rid of a pest after all.

The massive maw slams down on his frail looking body. He's only fortunate that he's not as frail as he looks. Still, its plenty to hurt, and hurt a lot. Both the toothy maw, and the acidic saliva... or whatever it is eating away at him.
He manages to find a handhold first, then a foothold, and struggles to pry the teeth apart, forcing himself back up and struggling to maintain his concentration, if he loses it, he's lost.

	Cthulu is going to keep biting down. He has no problem eating any mortal. That was why not everyone wanted to be his High Priest. He tended to eat them first which he had done minutes ago. He pauses then coughs out the little human and begins walking again. Maybe now after covering Ty in slime he would stop fighting. Sheep welding lightning is very annoying. //We're not done yet!// he sends, riding the lines of a telepathic assault on the elder thing, even as he struggles to stay aloft.

He tries to follow it up with another assault, trying to bite back the pain, but nothing happens, beyond a tingling sensation running up his arm.

Oh gods, no, not now. He needs to hold it together, he can't lose control now.

Which, of course, only serves to speed up the loss of control, his hands shaking, almost all concentration lost.

The water rises up to meet him much faster than it should -- and then it catches him and holds him up.

"Can I help? I'm a spell-caster, tell me how I can help!"

Alina's shaking as she balances the two of them on the top of the wave. She is way, way closer to the...thing trying to come out of the water than she had ever planned to be. Maybe "take me where I'm most needed" wasn't the best spell ever.

Thank God she's not out here alone.

	"I think I--" Alina spies the monster coming at them out of the corner of her eye and shrieks. Fortunately, the screaming mimi's do wonders for her focus, if not her control. All of a sudden, the tingling goes away. Calm sweeps through him. He pushes her behind him as chitinous armor spreads over his already super durable form, and waves of telekinestic foce sweep out from him, trying to slow the monster's approach.

"Don't look at it too closely." he tells her as he builds back up. "Mortals can't perceive his true form, it drives a lot of people mad... whatever you're doing, just keep it up... you may have just saved six billion lives."

He has the fears of the city, possibly the world backing him up, so when the eye turns his way, he manifests the ring, and fires a string-thin single beam at the center of it, daring to look into the eye of madness to target his shot. Even just looking, his psychic shields and will take quite the beating, but they hold... and he still needs to keep this going a little longer. Just hold out, live, a little longer.

He clamps a clawed hand over his eyes in pain. There is the scent of burnt flesh in the air.

Cthulu tosses his head back and a earth shattering soul freezing noise comes out. Disembodied parts from human corpses start to fly around and swing at the two heroes.

Blood starts to rain down from the sky across the bay. Things begin to decay at the feet of the god as the world tries to turn insane on everyone.

Or is it all in their minds? It is hard to tell but the rain doesn't smell like pennies.

Alina gags and squeezes her eyes shut, pressing close against the other guy's back as she calls the water they're standing on up around them to keep the body parts away. She had hoped that it wouldn't "count" as another spell, but the way it feels in her mental grip tells her otherwise. Frost starts forming on the water around her feet.

She holds firm on her 'zen' spell, though. That's the one that's most important.

That shouldn't be possible, not really.

But he apparently did, the power of the world's fear channeled through him did more than just get Cthulu's attention.

For good or ill.

Now they're fighting for real, all the power of chaos at the monster's beck and call. He trusts the girl to stay behind him and protect herself, as he focuses, diving back into the well of tricks.

Cthulhu can make it rain? He can call the thunder.

"SHAZAM! SHAZAM!! SHAZAM!!!"

Lightning crackles down again and again, while he stirs up the seas into an angry froth, battering the monster with stormswept waves, while feeling the blood rain trying to drag him into the illusion, warp his mind. And he can't let it.

Oh, this is bad. A rush of water he can handle, probably, but his new friend? The one keeping him from doing who knows what?

He concentrates, turning his attention away from attacks on Cthulu, and manifests a trident to help him focus the Ocean Master's power. He parts the water in front of him, still taking a heavy impact, but enough he can stand strong and protect her, using the water he sloughs off to build a wall of water between the shore and Cthulu, all the while sweating even more profusely from the strain.

Alina's sure that the roar of the beast is going to shake all the teeth right out of her head. She clings more tightly to her new friend's armor with numbing fingers, knowing that she -- and maybe everyone else -- will be completely screwed if she loses her grip.

She's never had to maintain a spell this long in this kind of chaos before. Her magic feels restless in her mental-grasp, and it's taking more and more energy to keep it on track and stop it from bleeding out in wilder effects. She bites her lip to keep from whimpering, trying not to gag again at the taste of maybe-blood.
