Moving in on a kill
Jane was making sure the body armor she was going to wear wouldn't be too noticeable. Then she rolled her eyes wondering why she was being so paranoid. Jake wasn't going to hurt her. But it was still smart to worry about the other guys.

So she made sure that she was in black from head to toe more or less. Nothing reflective. Soft soled shoes so nothing would clatter and an extra gun strapped to the small of her back. She didn't think he would stop her from using it. She didn't intend on killing anyone tonight but it was probably going to happen.

She wasn't going to lie to herself about this. Tonight was going to be dangerous. Hopefully nothing added to it. With that in mind she set out for the building. She took care with everything she did. No one should know about her getting there aside from her partner for the night. So all she had to do was wait for him to show up and she would be ready to move in.

Donald Kestrel gives Jane the once over, noting that the smaller woman looks good in black. He smirks at Jake.

"You know, I hate archers. We have a problem with those types in Star City. Like cockroaches, those are. But how about this, Tekiya: I give you the money for the mask, and this Black Arrow here...and we call it even.

I'll even take the blond off your hands as a bonus." he says.

Tekiya glares at Kestrel, then at Jane and, finally, Jake.

"No, Kestrel. No deals. No alliances." Tekiya says.

"Pity." Kestrel says, and sighs, while his trigger man keeps his gun on the Yakuza.

Jane has to count to ten mentally to not take a shot at Kestrel. She isn't some little toy that can be bartered for. Though it looks like this is going to turn into another blood bath no matter what happens.

She finds that it is hard to not start pulling puns from the back of her head. And she has the feeling that both Kestrel and Tekiya are going to be unwilling to let her and Jake walk out o this freely.

"Looks like we're gonna have a fight on our hands no matter what we do," Jane comments. Then tilts her head a little curiously. "You know. I've never been a part of a three way. First time for everything."

Jesus she shouldn't talk at times like this.

	"Jane, I'm glad I'm sharing this three-way with you. And you certainly know how to make a gun fire, but I have to ask...can you use a sword?" Jake asks. 	"Not very well," she admits. "Just well enough not to hurt myself but I can improvise with the best of them." She makes a mental note to start widening her level of training. 	After all, Teufeltiger has no reason to lie to dead men. He leaps at the Yakuza as his trigger man fires at Jake. The Yakuza fire at Teufeltiger, Jake & Jane, and the henchmen. Jake looses an arrow at Kestrel/Teufeltiger. And the whole world goes to hell. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Thank god for body armor, Jane thinks as she dives and starts to fire at Kestrel. "Damn it! Fight him! Not us," she shouts at the Yakuza. "We're not the real enemy." Because of course the real one is the guy who is trying to rip their faces off. She is going to try and immobilize the man-tiger as best she can and try not to get killed by everyone else. 	Jake looses the arrow at Teufeltiger, and it narrowly misses the Beast-Man/God as the monster lands in the throng of Yakuza. He's about to fire another shot when a bullet his him in the back. He grunts in pain, secretly thankful that the bullet didn't pierce his own flak vest. Still, he's knocked down to a knee as Kestrel's trigger man moves in to finish him off. A few of the bullets hit Teufeltiger, and he growls in rage as he closes in on the Yakuza. The pain, if he's feeling any, only seems to fuel him as he lands among the Yakuza with their drawn guns.

Claws flash with inhuman speed, and powerful jaws snap at the men. The gangsters are wounded or killed outright. A head rolls to a stop at Jane's feet, an expression of terror frozen on its features.

Teufeltiger throws another man into the glass cases at the wall and keeps moving.

	Jane sees the gunman moving to finish Jake off. She fires at him aiming for his knee. That should take him out of the fight. Jane doesn't say anything. She just starts lining up another shot. She knows that this guy isn't going down for some reason. She has no idea why but she figures enough damage will put anyone down. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The gunman places his gun to the back of Jake's head and is about to pull the trigger when Jane's shot blows out his kneecap.

He screams in pain as his leg buckles, and Jake rolls away from him, grasping his bow in hand as he moves. He comes up pulling an arrow, and fires it at the gunman, who tries to get a bead on him.

Not quick enough.

The arrow goes through the gunman's neck, and lodges itself there.

Jake pulls another arrow, takes aim at a Yakuza attempting to sneak up on Jane. He's aim is still off from the pain in his back, however, and he draws another arrow, knowing he won't be fast enough.

"JANE, BEHIND YOU!" he yells.

	Teufeltiger roars in rage as the bullets keep coming, but the wounds are healing nearly as fast as his attackers can create them. He roars at Jake's yell, then turns and sees one of the Yakuza readying to attack Jane. Teufeltiger flicks out a clawed hand and disembowels the Yakuza thug, who starts to land on Jane. Jane almost shuts down completely. She could have dealt with the man behind her she though.

But seeing the poor thug get ripped open like a wet bag of trash nearly destroys her. She manages to get out of the way. Her mind isn't dealing well with the sudden gore. She forgets about how she didn't want to kill anyone and fires off a shot at Teufeltiger but misses because she still subconsciously doesn't want to cross that line.

	Teufeltiger tosses another Yakuza away from him and the others seem to think better of attacking him for a moment, as nothing else they've tried is having effect. He looks down at Jane, and bares his fangs in something grotesquely reminiscent of a smile. "Run, girl. Run now, while you have a chance." he snarls. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Jake sees the Demon looming over Jane, and knows there's only one real choice here. He brought her into this, but he wouldn't be responsible for her death.

Jake circles around behind the Man-Tiger and leaps upon his back, trying to choke him out with his bow.

"RUN, JANE! GO!" he says, punching Kestrel in the back of the head as the beast struggled to throw him off.

The Yakuza in the room took the advice to heart and ran for it as well.

Jane stares for a second then quickly backs off. There are dead and wounded men all over the room.

That is when it dawns on her. "Jake! He's wearing the mask! There has to be a way to get it off of him," she barks. There was some distance between them now.

She found herself pretty unwilling to leave him here to get killed. But damn it she knew this guy was better than her because of the mask.

	Jake gets where she's going with this, but it's going to be tough. Teufeltiger is bucking around like a wild bull, and Jake is finding it harder and harder to hold on. 	...only to have Teufeltiger finally catch hold of his arm and hurl him across the room. Jake's body collides with the last of the intact glass cases remaining, the katana and samurai armor inside landing atop him like so much dead weight. Jake doesn't move again. Satisfied, he turns to Jane. "You should have run, girl." he says, starting to advance on her. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Holy shit. She was dead. She couldn't leave Jake to get gutted though. Her mouth gets set into a firm line and she starts firing off shots at Teufeltiger. Maybe getting him in the area where the mask is will do something? She has no idea. But she is not running and leaving Jake to die. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	The shots to the face seem to hurt him as he backs away, covering his face. The bullets do more than sting when aimed at his face: they hurt. He's going to kill her something awful as soon as he can see her. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	She doesn't cheer. She just rushes quickly. She needs to get behind him which is easy. Damn tall people. She jumps and leaps hooking her legs around him as she starts to tear and the mask with her hands trying to force it off of him. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Angry Teufeltiger is angry! This little annoyance is proving to be more of handful than that damned archer and all those Yakuza put together. He tries to grab her so that he can break her into small pieces when he can see her. He's going to tear her heart out and devour it the moment he gets a good hold on her! Jake is coming to, and he curses himself for being knocked out in the first place. He feels like utter crap, and he thinks he might have broken a rib, but that's not important.

If Jane is dead because of his failure, then he will carry her death on his head for the rest of his life. He pushes the heavy suit of armor off of him, and looks about the room.

No. He's got to be dreaming this. Jane is trying to tear the mask off Kestrel?

This woman knows no fear. She reminds him of his mother, in a way.

He grips the first weapon his eyes settle on, his bow, and stumbles forward. He picks up an arrow, knows he's got one shot at this.

"KESTREL!" he yells.
