A Day of Thanks

In America today is a day for being thankful for the things in people's lives. Today was a day to celebrate family, friends, prosperity and health with food, family and friends. It is a time to reflect on what is important us and to recognize the gratitude we hold for having those things in our lives.

	Holidays were a strange affair in the Bat-Family. They all gathered at Bruce's of course and Maria always enjoyed having the crew under one roof. It usually led to some interesting stories to tell at the next holiday gathering. (Reply to this)(Thread)

First family holiday in the new universe. Weird was an understatement. There were familiar elements to be sure but...all the changes were overwhelming. But he's going to make the best of this. Family is family.

But that didn't explain the turkey.

Thomas eyes it suspiciously. There was no Alfred to make his famous Pennyworth recipe so who had cooked that one? He really hopes it's catering, cause he just can't see any Bruce in an apron stuffing a turkey.

	The relief on his face is really obvious. "Thank you! You just saved me a night of avoiding turkey and watching everyone else eat it while keeping track of any symptoms you guys come down with. He decided that Alfred had to have a vacation and sent him off for a few days. Bad idea, cause the night before he's supposed to come back, dad gets chloroformed. And you know how much those hangovers after suck. So the next day he figured he needed to eat and decided to take one of my frozen pizzas. Somehow, none of us are really sure how, the night before while wandering the kitchen in search of coffee in full Bat gear he managed to crack the outer oven door glass. Bad enough right? Well when he's making this pizza, he gets impatient and decides to open it to check while drinking cold water. Spills the cold water on the inner glass of the door. Hot glass, cold water, bam! It's cracked. So now he's managed to crack both layers of glass on that door. He's still hungover so he doesn't really notice. Leaves the kitchen.

I'm doing homework and Alfred comes back so I go to welcome him. And literally as Alfred is putting down his bags? BAM! Giant explosion from the kitchen shakes the whole manor. We rush over and the oven glass has exploded and the door is almost off it's hinges. Glass all over. You should have seen their faces.

Let's just say Alfred banned him on the spot from ever stepping foot in that kitchen again."

	Cait loved surface holidays. They were usually very different from Atlantean holidays. Thanksgiving was one of her favorites since it dealt with food. Turkey was one of her favorite surface foods after pizza and steak. She invited Ty's mom over to spend the day with the Titans. (Reply to this)

Harry doesn't have a very big family, and they're scattered across the country. It doesn't help that his mom always seems to want to start arguments, it's part of the reason he moved out. But family is family and they go for lunch together at a nearby restaurant. It leaves his evening free for a guaranteed less awkward meal with the others later.

Harry picks up a large box of his favourite roasted potatoes he ran to the nearby supermarket to get right before. Hopefully he's not late...

A bright flash of light and he's standing in the kitchen. "Happy Thanksgiving! I brought potatoes." Maybe he should have gotten a pie instead...

He didn't want to mention the smell but now that the topic is out...he glances at the remains of the pie before discreetly sliding over to Lenny.

He leans over to whisper in the other guy's ear. "Distract her for a minute while I get the pie? If anyone asks you got it."

Cindy probably heard so he puts his finger to his lips to indicate nobody should mention it to Jess.

He felt kind of bad for this, since she had worked so hard, but maybe a new pie might cheer her up.

	Heather was kind of trying to hide in the kitchen doorway. She could... kind of smell all the food, but it was muted. Not that, as she'd discovered soon after their return from space, she could eat it anyway. One more reason (on top of having no good way to explain how she'd become a crystal freak) to avoid her family this holiday. "Looks... looks good, guys." (Reply to this)(Parent)
