Tussle in Thailand
With some assistance from T.H.U.N.D.E.R., the team managed to convince the Thai government to allow them to follow the August General's lead to Proteus' location. The area itself was the suspected headquarters of a Malay terrorist group, so the JLI was advised to be on the lookout, as it was suspected Proteus may be working with the organization.

	Pippi isn't sure about all of this. Shapechangers were just complicated - but they needed to help Xian. She trails along, trusting Barbie and the other really smart people to have some idea what's going on, while she just uses her powers to help with the 'keeping an eye out', asking some of the local wildlife to help look for any bad men with guns. The team drew more than a few stares from those in the town. Most of the faces appeared ethnically Malay, though a small number of Thai citizens could be seen as well. As the JLI continued their investigation, a group of younger Malay males, dressed in clothes often associated with street thugs though there was a nigh-undetectable aura of competence about them.

" "You're a long way from home. What brings you to our small town?" The man spoke in Malay.

When the JlI arrived with the imprisoned Proteus, they were met by a collection of Chinese soldiers and bureaucrats. In the front of the group were three individuals, a man in a suit with a distinct air of authority, the August General standing to his right, and beside the general floated the ethereal form of a woman in green, the Ghost Fox kIller. The unusual husband and wife pair looked intently. Upon seeing Proteus the woman took on an angry countenance and seemed to float toward him before the General placed a gentle, but firm grip on her shoulder, shaking his head.

Barbie addresses Xi'an's parents in Mandarin. "Your feelings are certainly understandable, Ma'am. We're hoping he can be of some use, though. Even if it's just a little information that can be used to help Xi'an." Barbie doesn't feel that nudging and winking is necessary.

Ghost Fox Killer nods once, slowly, though she still shoots Proteus a loo that did not mistake intent. Afterwards the ghost-woman seemed to look in Lizzy's direction, lingering a little longer than a casual glance. There was no hostility in the look, but rather as if she were appraising the younger woman.

It's then the official beside them speaks. "I am Secretary Ma, representing the interest of the State. We would ask that you turn over the criminal for interrogation."

"Wait," the General said with cold authority.

"General, I insis-"

"I said WAIT!" The General thundered. The bureaucrat seemed to shrink in his suit, though he tried to look indignant. Ghost Fox Killer seemed to smirk ever so little at that. He looks at the JLI. "May I speak to the prisoner? You may of course supervise."

Petra's ready to turn this guy into a popsicle again, but she's curious what plans Xian's parents have in mind for him.

Meanwhile, when she catches Ghost Fox Killer examining Lizzy, she positions herself by the other girl's shoulder. She smiles, points at her friend, and gives a thumbs up.

Pippi looks around during the discussion, trying to make heads or tails of this. But Barbie isn't reacting badly, so things are probably ok. That's usually a good measuring stick.

Dinadan was Not Talking To Anyone. Aggressively so, worthy of the capitalization of the individual words.

Sometimes, he just couldn't believe this team. Frequently, he couldn't believe that their backers had anything good in mind; and things like this only justified that belief, but it had never been this bad before.

He was Not Talking To Anyone, because if he spoke to anyone, there was a high chance that he'd start screaming at all of them.

Petra was standing behind him, one arm crossed over her chest, holding the elbow of the other. "I know you're mad because of-- well, take your pick of the past few hours.

I just wanted to... uhh..." She lets out a heavy sigh. "I just want you to know I understand, and there won't be any hard feelings if you.. if we're... if we're done." She lowers her head slightly, biting her lip.

"I am going to be king of New Morlaidh, Petra. A nation that currently has no political standing whatsoever because we've been buried in a jungle that technically belongs to Brazil for generations. We are trying to reach out. We are trying to make connections, we are trying to be recognized by the international community, and I am their representative. I don't have the luxury of mouthing off to hostile government officials and openly threatening to cause an international incident."

A little discretion. A little discretion from this stupid team was all it would have taken.

Petra blinks, almost doubling back in the face of that resolve. She'd never thought Din was weak, but she'd never thought he was... this, either.

I'm sorry. It's just how I am, how my family is, and I know that doesn't make it an excuse, but it's what it is.

Now, if I may, I would like to suggest we table the discussion of how the relationship should go past the first fight after I've taken the time I need to calm down so that I can figure out how to keep everyone from being disappeared by a hostile government that we've already taunted. Is that acceptable to you?"
