Should've Taken that Left Turn at Orchid Bay @ 02:46 am
littleladylord:
Cindy had taken the train down from Gateway to Star to have this conversation with her mother at one of Claire's many offices. She supposed it was worth the trip. It had gone... okay. "And this isn't some kind of joke?" her mother had said. "You seriously..." "Yes, Mom. I seriously have a girlfriend." And then her mother had had a meeting. Again. Cindy, sighing, had started walking huffily back towards the train station when her mother had managed to put the business out of the way long enough to call her cell phone -- not to insist she come back, but to ask if this sudden abrupt love life had anything to do with her dad not paying enough attention to her. As Cindy sighingly explained and argued and discussed and asked that things not be about her dad for moment, she made the mistake of continuing to walk while concentrating on her flustered conversation. She walked quite a long way, in fact. Eventually, she realized this. "Look, Mom, I'm going to have to call you back." Cindy hoped like hell she could get a taxi out of here.
Party time! @ 12:00 am
catchmeifyoucan:
Since the calendar had turned to the month of September, Iris had been counting down the days until their birthday. She'd been planning the party since back in June. Jai normally had no problem letting her handle the party planning itself. She had invited all of the Titans, including Pipi and Mitzi, of course. And Jon, Corinna, Traya, Cindy, Jerry, Keith, Cerdian, and Wendi, too. And Riley, because if she didn't invite him, he'd probably tag along with Dinah anyway. She also told Cait that she could bring her mom along, if she wanted to get out of the Tower, and that her parents probably wouldn't mind the company at all. Jai probably invited some people too, though the guest list was pretty much the same between the two of them. Everything was all set up, and Iris placed the wrapped package that had Jai's gift on the table where the other gifts would go. Grinning from ear to ear, she waited for everyone to arrive.

'But Please Understand, I'd be Surprisingly Good for You.' @ 07:36 pm
littleladylord:
A package arrived for Nicolette Hall at the JSA brownstone. It contained a small bottle of perfume, a gift certificate for the Flying Pig Farmers' Market in Union Square, and a note. The perfume is Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab's 'And There Was a Great Cry in Egypt'. Sandalwood, cypress, honey, etc. The note says ' Thinking of you. The perfume seemed right for you somehow. I hope you like it, but please don't mind telling me if you don't. See you this weekend. Cindy'

Learning Experiences. (Avia) @ 07:24 pm
littleladylord:
As Cindy got situated at school, she was a little more...absent-minded than usual. Absent in a particular direction. But there were plenty of things that needed doing or practicing. And not just academics. She dialed up a certain residence in Connecticut. "Avia?" She asked as soon as the phone was answered. "What's the easiest thing for you to get out of? That's not a performing secret, of course."

Lunch @ 09:59 pm
littleladylord:
It was the last Friday before school started. Cindy had everything ready. This was a Dad Place, and Dad wasn't home. She'd made the sandwiches. She had that other stuff. She was on top of things this time. She wasn't going to be nervous.

Workout time @ 12:48 am
littleladylord:
Her hair gotten up, Cindy followed to the JSA's workout room. And tried to calm herself down. She was normally a very private person about That Sort of Thing. There never seemed any point in mentioning her preferences to people because she didn't expect to be dating for a long, long time. Maybe after she'd had time to really establish herself. Market herself. Really showcase her brains and capabilities. Maybe then someone would want her. Today had blindsided her. But she wasn't complaining. And besides it was good to get started on the training right out. She had a lot to learn.

Mickey walked into the kitchen of the JSA Brownstone, in shorts and a bikni, the floating iPod deck that Mikey built her for her birthday behind her. She was worried about Nic, but she didn't want to seem to hovery. She'd let her sleep in...and then haul her ass out of her room and drag her off to go clubbing later if she didn't surface by two. But for now, it was a beautiful sunny day out, and Mickey planned to take full advantage of it. But first, she needed cookies.
Mother-Daughter Talk @ 01:26 pm
littleladylord:
"So, he said I should talk to Mr. J'onnz for advice, and maybe see people at the JSA --" "You're not trying for anything with Superboy, are you?" Claire Montgomery asked her daughter. "No, we're just reasonably cordial acquaintances and maybe hopefully going to be teammates." "Good, because that's not even remotely plausible. If you Asked Nicely, you'd give yourself away in a second." "I'm not going to Ask Nicely for somebody to go out with me, Mom." "Right. Especially not when it was obvious and you could get arrested or sued. In that department, just do the best with what you've got -- this trying to be a heroine is going to be such a good motivator for looking better -- and highlight the advantages. Now, a lot of guys bristle at the idea of a girl's paying for everything, but let's face it, babydoll: boys with too much pride are not your target demographic." "...I know, Mom."

Power Lunch. @ 11:00 pm
littleladylord:
Cindy hadn't let her party crasher leave without getting his contact information. And they clearly had things to discuss. She called.

Washed Ashore (open to YJLA) @ 07:47 pm
dc_atlantis:
Koryak swam as fast as he could, which at this point wasn't very fast. He was covered in wounds from his escape from Poseidonis and blood was flowing freely. There had been shark attacks as he swam from Poseidonis. They had been drawn by the scent of blood in the water and they added more wounds to his body. Koryak was weakening quickly, but he had to press on. He had to reach the Justice League. He had to reach Cait. She had to know what was going on in Atlantis. Driven by purpose and running on sheer willpower, Koryak reached the surface. He crawled up on the beach and fell. Sand was rough against his skin and he lifted his head and looked at the buildings. Almost there, but he would not make it. Blackness closed in and his head fell. A prince of Atlantis lay on the beach bleeding. Later the YJLA would get a call from local law enforcement.

25 July: It's My Party @ 11:38 pm
littleladylord:
Four different kinds of gourmet Macaroni and Cheese. Stacks upon stacks of different finger sandwiches, with the yards worth of crusts used to make a couple of heated trays of bread pudding. A pineapple-banana-pecan cake possibly bigger than the birthday girl herself. A small table of vegan stuff, just in case. Cindy couldn't stop grinning at it. Had she found awesome caterers or what? The band specialized in swing covers of hard rock songs, but could play just about anything. There was a dance floor. All her friends from school were there, dressed to the eights. Of course, all Cindy's friends from school didn't really fill up the little reception hall. And she certainly didn't have a big family. But that was okay, more room for her soon-to-be-colleagues fellow super-brats. And so she scurried, from arrival to arrival, for cheerful welcomes.

Invitations @ 07:22 pm
littleladylord:
'The pleasure of your company is cordially requested by Miss Lenore Cynthia Montgomery Lord at a celebration of her 16th birthday. at 6 pm on the 25th of July.' Calligraphy. Cardstock paper with those little RSVP cards and everything. That should make it clear that her birthday is going to be awesome, right? Cindy Lord's powers don't work in print, so she feels there can be no confusion about what the fancy etiquette signifies beyond, in Cindy's mind, 'important'. Among the rather prissy-looking envelopes sent out are those addressed to Miss Traya Smith, Miss Petra Beatriz Gardener, Mr. Jonathan Kent, Her Royal Highness Caitria Curry, Mr. Jai Allen West, Miss Iris Lillian West, Miss Dinah Michelle Kord, Mr. Riley Edward Carter, But she makes sure the little notes on the invitations include 'Dress flexible'. She doesn't want anybody not coming to her party because they didn't feel like wearing heels or a tie.
