Unexpected Visitor
Sif stumbled up the sidewalk. The gates of the Avengers' Mansion loomed over her and she held on to the smallest piece of hope. The Avengers would be able to help her and help save Asgard. Something was definitely not right in the Golden Realm and Sif was determined to get to the bottom of it.

That determination helped her endure a long period in a dark cell with little food or water. It kept her going in the dark and gave her the strength to over power the guard and make her way out of Svartalfheim, the land of the dark elves. They had magic users and were fierce warriors, causing Sif to be very careful and very slow in making her way out of their realm. Not only did she have to avoid the dark elves, but the realm was home to many dangerous monsters and animals. Sif had been attacked a few times, but a crude staff made from a branch had served her well. She didn't come out of it unscathed. Her body was sporting various bruises and cuts, some deep.

The journey to Asgard had been long and treacherous, but she had made it. She didn't go into the city, instead she skirted around it. The last thing she wanted was to be tossed back into the cell. She would rather die than go back in there. Eventually she came to Bifrost and Heimdall. Getting over the bridge could have proved to be difficult, but Heimdall was her brother. Despite being loyal to throne of Asgard, Sif was his sister and he looked away long enough for her to run across the bridge to Midgard.

Sif arrived on Migard outside the Museum of Natural History. She knew the Avengers weren't far away. Heedless of people and traffic she made her way across the park to the Avengers' Mansion.

She looked at the gate and then collapsed into a heap.

"Someone's more than likely impersonating Thor and has the real Thor stashed away somewhere. Anyone we know got a huge ax to grind with him?"

"It ist most likely Loki," Sif said. "Loki hath always wanted to defeat Thor and rule Asgard."

“That makes sense,” Steve said, “Does anyone have any ideas on how we can deal with this.”

"Tricky," Hank said. "But we'll probably do what we always do. Find a way there, shout "Avengers Assemble!", take on an army, and win."

"I would suggest intel first," Natasha said. "We need to know what exactly we're getting into. Fighting all of Asgard is not my idea of a good time."

"Skrulls we can handle. An army of gods....not so much. And there really isn't much that we can't handle."

"Eh, it's no worse than the time we fought all the monsters of Olympus," Hank speculated. "Of course, that was before you or 'tasha joined."

"But Asgard has insects. We get there, Jan and I can direct the ultimate spy army."

“We also had a lot more people with us including Thor,” Steve said, “It’s best to try and prepare since we’ll probably be going up against Loki and he’s had time to prepare for us. Our smartest option would probably be for you and Janet to free Thor and the other gods who can help up while the rest of us provide a distraction.”

"I doth not know where the others art being held," Sid said. "I wast in Svartalfheim, the land of the Dark Elves. I doth not know if others art being held there or elsewhere in the Nine Worlds."

"That's what the insect spy army is for, the finding of where the others are, Sif."

Seriously, did people not think Hank had a brain? Hank was right, usually right, and once again he had the logical suggestion. Maybe she should start smacking people with a shoe...

"Shouldn't take long, either."

"You two shouldn't be going alone," Natasha advised. "Just in case something happens. We should send at least one or two more as backup."

“All the same it would be smart to have same back up with you in case things take a turn for the worst,” Steve said, “and if that happens you can call them in.”

Tony listens to the discussion for a moment, considering everything they've seen thus far. He doesn't like the idea of sending Hank and Janet in alone, but they've probably got the best shot of getting in and out unnoticed, or at least, unscathed.

"The more people that go with them, the higher the risk of getting caught. Besides, if they get into trouble with gods, it won't matter how much back-up they have. The rest of us should concentrate on giving them the best distraction, and thereby the most time possible, to find Thor and the others." Tony says.

"But I can't handle gods," she said. "We need someone who can and can get out of there in a hurry if need be. Getting to and from Asgard isn't like driving a few blocks." She turned to Tony. "Who do we have on the roster or reserves that can stand up to a few gods and can get in and out of there in a hurry if things go wrong? Plus be good at disguises."

"Like disguises would really work on gods. Gods are...godly. They know stuff and can do things that we mere widdle mortals can't...even when we're bad ass. This is all getting ridic. I'll be in Hank's pocket until we come up with a practical plan of action. Oh. And I made cookies earlier. In case we need a snack. And by made I mean ordered from the bakery."

Jan did just as she said and hid out in Hank's pocket.

"Exactly how do you and Hank plan on getting to Asgard, Jan? Try flying there and let me know how that works out for you," Natasha said with a little edge to her words. "We need someone who can teleport there and back. Asgard isn't exactly easy to get to."

"What we need is another god, or close to being a god as one can get."

"Well, I knew someone who fit that bill until recently. Problem is, Sersi doesn't remember /any/ of us. I tried to talk to her and she looked at me like I was crazy when I said we knew each other." Tony says.

"I don't think we should count on her to help us out in a pinch. She doesn't even remember she's an Eternal."

Well. That had gone poorly. They were all stressed here, it was easy to see. Hank was compelled to stick up for Jan, in any case.

"Easy, 'tasha," he said. "We're all just worried about Thor here."

"What about Hercules?" he considered. "Herc can get us to Olympus, and Olympus connects to Asgard, if I remember right. He's still on Earth, last I remember him checking in."

"Divide and conquer, so to speak?" Natasha asked. "Tony and I can talk to Sersi, while Hank and Jan talk to Herc? Steve and Jen stay here to protect Sif?"
