Keeping it under his hat (open)
He had really hoped his Dad would be around on his birthday. He hadn't mentioned he was turning twenty to anyone and had gone home earlier than usual. All he got was a pizza he ended up ordering and a beer he had ended up grabbing from the refrigerator.

He hadn't wanted to act out of sorts. It just sucked that his old man just really wasn't around much anymore. Other adventures and other people had become far more important than Daniel. He wasn't going to let it get him down. Except it did matter.

So here he was almost a week latter still not having breathed a word of how nuts it was really driving him. He was trying his hand at a new potion in the area he had set aside on the Hydro base for magical experiments. He was also pretty firmly trying to ignore and avoid everyone since his mood had boiled from mildly disappointed to a male variant of PMS because he still hadn't heard anything from his old man and it was starting to really bother him.

	"It's always good to follow what fits with your expertise," Vernique agrees. "If we drive, I'd rather take mine. It's the brown one." Specifically, it's a brown Mercedes, albeit 'only' a compact variety five years old. Vernique grins. "Hey. We were going to get lunch. I have this craving for Mediterranean. How about you too?" "Well magic is what I know. And I do know the more involved in the magical community you are the more stuff seems to follow you," he says with a shrug. He thinks it's probably nothing though but he needs to be sure. He gives a sharp whistle. " Sorry. I just keep forgetting that I'm pretty much blue collar. No offense. I'm just.... My budget is tiny."

"In general or are we going for Greek," Daniel asks suddenly glad he was in slacks and a decent shirt. He had no idea how everyone else rolled but he liked to dress well for what he could afford.

Plus he just had thing about keeping his arms covered and this shirt kept his arms covered well.

	"No kidding," Sammy echoed. "Some of us don't get a car. Or a hover car." She grinned at Daniel and Vernique. "I'll put my books up. It'll take me a second." "Yeah but I got mine for six hundred. Set me back for a while but it's fine now," Daniel says with a shrug. "Sure it's sometimes scary and smells like an old man but it's mine."

He pauses then winks at Dani. "But you're actually cute. Guys will buy you nice things someday. Me and my ugly mug and elf ears? Pfffft. There's a reason I stick to magic."

He is chuckling and trying to smile. He still isn't in a good mood but he is surrounded by pretty girls so he can't stay in a terrible mood.

	He nudges a tip of one ear. "Let's just say I learned to keep my hair long enough to comb it over my ears." Kids can be mean. And teenagers are worse. "Plus I was shy up until my senior year.
