With the slowdown, he knows anything too big or complex that'd have to struggle through the hole in the torch would mean they all get shoved over the edge. He could probably transform and survive, but the others?

Instead, he shrinks, his reflexes enough faster in this form to almost bring him back to vaguely normal.

A tiny, vicious dinosaur launches itself at Failsafe, only barely cutting him off before he gets to X-Factor.

This is not school bullies or even a lynch mob in Two Forks, Maine. This is not one of the practice sessions Miss Vange arranged for her.

A crazy mutant terrorist just effectively zapped them and is trying to kill them.

There isn't enough time even to think about what a cute compy DJ makes.
Pauine just starts moving. Effectively crawling. And solfaging a lullaby to help her mind reach out to the kids inside the torch.

	Harry follows after Pauline to find the kids. This guy that the others were facing was very dangerous and he had a feeling that they were going to be asking for some patch up work soon but the kids were the top priority. Harry was also watching Pauline’s back just in case she got to distracted while using her powers to find the kids. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The kids, thankfully, are easy to find. What the telepathy reveals is that they're all kept in one place, they're all physically safe still, but they've been badly terrorized and traumatized. Rampage's monster forms, drawn from their nightmares, threats to blow up the statues with them in it, threats to their families and more traditional torments. They haven't been touched, but this is an encounter they'll remember a long, long time.

For his own part, Failsafe knocks the dinosaur aside, moving too fast to be easily caught up with physically, but he's mostly defensive still, studying his opponents.

	"oh my gosh..." Pauline gasps. She has to trust that DJ will be okay so that she can focus on this, muttering to Harry that the kids are in there together, no injuries... then she sings again, trying to extend soothing feelings. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Harry gets over to the kids while his powers don’t do much to heal mental harm but he does try to do what he can to heal their minds and keep them calm but there is not much he can do and what he can do Pauline is able to do much better.

Harry stays with the kids and Pauline doing what he can and keeping an eye on the fight so that his they need his healing power he can get over there fast and help them out.

What he and Pauline are mostly getting is mental trauma. There's still no signs of physical damage, but that's not to say there's no harm done.

"Ahhh, the support crew." Failsafe says with a grin, eyeing the people working with the kids, as he blurs towards Julian, then comes to a stop, disoriented, but not losing control of his powers. He's had them a long time, obviously well practiced, but Julian at the very least has his attention.
"You may not believe in too late, but I've seen the future. And I shared it with these children, their impressionable young minds, and so much of what's to happen between humans and mutants. You'll never guess what happens to all of you."

	DJ shifts again at the distraction, something with a little more heft to it, and literally catlike reflexes, lunging at Failsafe again, swiping with long claws hard enough to draw blood, if not quite as much as he'd intended, with the slow down. Julian sees DJ's attack, and the moment the younger man lands his attack, Julian follows up with a little help of his own.

He reaches out and attempts to lay a hand on any part of Failsafe's skin exposed skin. It could be a hand, the back of his neck, or his face if possible. If Julian can make contact, he'll initiate his other ability and attempt to drain a bit of Failsafe's psychic energy.

It won't be enough to drop him outright, but Failsafe wouldn't be shaking off the feeling of disorientation anytime soon, allowing DJ a little more time to attack.

	Pauline's near cringing. When this is all done, she's going to be sick, but now she has to focus on what they were asked to do. She tries to smile, and keep up more soothing mental contact to keep them calm, and tells them they're getting out of here soon. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Jason was not pleased. Sure, he wasn't a good guy at heart, but he didn't hurt children. He also didn't lambaste all of mutant-kind with something horrible. And Jason was /very/ roud of being a mutant. "Shut up." With a flick of his wrist, Jason made the attempt to tighten all of Failsafe's clothes to the point where breathing could be found very difficult. (Reply to this)(Parent)
