Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

Jason smiles. "I offer many perks for one such as you, Agent Fury. In fact, you'll be so wowed by the perks, coffee, massages and weapons that you'll gladly 'allow' yourself to be caught over and over again." he says.

"Besides, there are other things I'd like to know about you that only in-depth examination can give me. However, I shall wait until I've caught you again to learn more." he smirks, raising an eyebrow.

	"The food is delicious." Sammy's brain fastened onto the one possible fact in all that and wondered...his first time? He'd had a girlfriend. He'd been involved in the local mob. "If these said 'holes in the wall' are in Italy, I will sing your praises forever and ever." Jason says. "I've always wanted to try authentic food from each country. Real Mexican food from Mexico, authentic Chinese food from China and so on."

His face takes on that expression usually reserved for Wildberry Skittles as he thinks on that for a moment.

"Panda Express is okay, but I have to believe that real Chinese food has more to it. I really hope so, at least." he drawls.

	"New York has some authentic restaurants, but you have to get out into the boroughs for it. But you're right, to get a real flavor for the cuisine it's more fun to bum around a foreign country for a while." "I've heard of Panda Express, but I never tried it. 	She smiled as he left the room. It was the simple gestures, like a cheek kiss, that got to her. She should be harder than that, but it slipped right through. Cleaning up didn't take long. She rinsed dishes for the dishwasher, put away the leftovers, and started the coffeemaker. When Jason returns, he'll find her making notes on her PDA at the kitchen table. Jason returns and sits down across from Sam, a smile on his face.

"You were right. I ran the idea past her and Gran says that she knows someone who would be able to help her, maybe even live-in for a decent price. She said that Jess had also tried to float the idea past her and asked if we'd be talkin'. I told her no, but that I agreed with Jess' suggestion.

I think Gran dislikes bein' thought of as incapable of takin' care of herself after all these years, so I tried to dispel the notion. It'll take work, but I think she's on board." Jason says.

"What are you workin' on, Gorgeous?" he asks.

Sammy stopped making notes and sat back to listen as he told her the outcome of his talk with Mrs. Landon.

"She's a smart lady. Jake's baby will have a lot to do with the choices she'll make."

She looked down at the PDA when he asked. "Checking my calendar and making notes for my report when I get back. I have two papers to finish by the end of the semester and a meeting with my adviser. There are some emails coming through from work that will need attention when we get back."

	"They'll be jealous, you mean. We don't have grandmothers who cook." She brought up an image on her PDA and handed it to him. "One of the possibilities for a downtime team location. "They have everything. I'd go so far to say that the wiring and plumbing are good, the place would be wired for high tech, but it won't have been...improved, if you get what I mean. They'd clean up what was there instead of renovating anything. But that gives everyone who wants to participate a chance to renovate their personal space. The bottom floor of this one is a small corner market that also fronts as the building's security. The place was used as a safe house."

"I am hoping there won't be and the head office will accept my reasoning for a special ops team to have their own space. Most agents rotate off the helicarrier so they do have their own apartments. We're stationed on the helicarrier and we're all young enough to not already have a place. Except Aleks might, but I'm leaving open the option that he'll like a place with the team as well."

She paged through some pictures of other buildings so he could see the options she'd been given. "If I'm told that other agents may use the free space, I'll have to deal with it."

"Basement will have plenty of room, hopefully, so you can have a lab close at hand. It'll ultimately be based on how big of a building we're going to be allowed. Some of these have tenants and businesses already in place. I'm looking for something small and easily defended if necessary. Even if there's a penthouse apartment, that can easily become common area."

She ran through the few pictures and turned the PDA off. "I could talk all night about it, but I think for our last evening we should probably do something social-like. A movie? Another swim?"
