Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

	"At least I'm not in the gold metal bikini," she said loftily. "And the coffee is wearing off. We need to refuel my caffeine tank and there's a place that looks like they've heard of a coffee pot." "This time next year, we could be in the Outback, or the Paris catacombs, or fighting at the top of Mount Fuji. What do you think, a team cookout in Costa Rica between fights?" Sammy closed her eyes and leaned back in the seat, smiling. She held the cup in both hands. "What we need is a team RV that converts to a rolling tank. We'll all probably kill each other being cooped up in a tight place, but we can wreck havoc on the countryside while we do it."

"Ooh, I hear Costa Rica is a nice this time of year. I'm pencilin' in it in, Fearless Leader." Jason says as they roll along.

"An RV that converts into a tank? I've never thought of that, but it has merit. I may have to work up some designs and show you." Jason says.

"But I don't think I'll want to kill you in close quarters, Sammy. Just so you know." Jason says, driving along.

	She laughed. He just rolled with it, no matter what foolish notion she put out there. "I'd kill Walker if we were all cooped up in an RV. Sammy was about to take a drink of her coffee when Jason came out with that gem. Thank god she hadn't taken that drink; it would have been all over the windshield.

"Oh no. No. No way. Never happen." She carefully set the cup back in the holder to avoid accidents. "I respect Walker. He has amazing skills and he's good at his job. If he wasn't sure that I could mess him up in a bad way, he'd never take orders from me without making it clear he didn't like having to listen to a mere woman."

"You have a baby face," Sammy insisted. "It must be your grandma's cooking."

"The coffee is passable, but I want my espresso machine. It understands me. It knows that when I push the push and head in for a shower, I'll expect a caffeine shot when I get back. The red 'ON' light keep me company in the middle of the night. Don't think I didn't notice that you slept with your phone under your pillow."

"I only noticed because I tried to take your pillow in my sleep and I woke up when I touched it. Because it was an odd shape. Sometimes I sleep with the Glock under my pillow." Not that it should be a surprise. It was a habit she had no reason to shake.

"No idea yet. As far as I know, we're getting you into training and going from there. And it could blow up when we get back on the helicarrier and we don't see our pillows for a week straight."
