A Strange Quest
Quinn had been thinking about the leprechaun incident and had a feeling it wouldn't be the last time he saw the little annoy creatures. Quinn's magic hadn't been effective and he had to know what to do the next time they came around. Maybe there was a spell or something that would work against them and their magic.

Quinn had to go to the one person who would know about this kind of stuff.

He teleported to 177A Bleecker Street in New York only to find it empty. He wondered where Dr. Strange was.

There was one person who may know. Quinn teleported out to the West Coast and arrived at the front gate of the Defenders.

They arrived in the Dark Dimension just outside the walls of Dormammu's fortress.

For the first time in more than a year, Marlow was home. She breathed in deeply and held it for a long beat before releasing it in a cleansing breath. She returned stronger than before, more controlled, and far more aware than she had been as a child.

She looked around at the mages that had made the journey. A part of her wanted to yell 'SPARTA!', but Titan wasn't here to appreciate the joke.

"'Uncle' Dormammu is about to get a surprise..."

"Better him than us, luv," Quinn said. He had spells ready to go and magical energies stored up. Oh yes there would be fighting.

The runes on the Outsider's staff glow with hellish intensity as he draws on the energy around him to look at the the doors of the fortress.

Whispers growls that deep, rumbling growl and stares at the fortress, the hellhounds eyes glowing a fierce crimson.

"I suppose it's only right to knock on the door, rather than just barge in. Anyone wanna ring the bell?" Matt asks.

Dawn conjured fire in her hands; the elements were always the easiest thing for her to master, even in this other dimension.

"Let's do this."

Shelly grit her teeth as she continued her lock on the book's location. They were closer now than they had been before and that caused the difficulty to increase.

"Oh our presence is known." Her voice was tight. "Marlow, since this is your turf...."

"This is his domain, he would know of a disturbance in the force." A second movie reference, and no Titan to appreciate it. "Knocking won't be necessary. He wants this fight after his defeat in Los Angeles. Beware of the Mindless Ones. They won't be far."

She turned to the doors and called up a spell that sent sparks from her hands. She mimed a two fisted pounding into the air. The doors cracked and swung drunkenly open on their hinges.

"That felt good," she said the others.

"The Force is strong with this one," Quinn said and winked at Marlow. Sure they were going up against impossible odds with little chance of success, but it didn't mean they had to act like they had sticks shoved up their asses.

"Then let's delay the Mindless Ones." Lucas offered. He sat down crosslegged and chanted, a fog rolling in around the periphery of their company. Anyone walking into the fog will hear voices, see occasional flickers of movement, and get some play of shadows. Its not that potent an illusion, but for mindless beings who attack anything that moves, it ought to slow any following them.

Shelly whispered a short chant, drawing black fire to her palms then closed her hands around the fire.

"The book is at the center and well-guarded by stacked levels of magical guards. Like chess, the weaker ones are first so to allow stronger guards to get in position." An idea struck her. "The first thing they're going to want to do is take out our ability to find the book. Can anyone create an illusory version of me?"

"Not my skillset," Dawn said. She was fighting really hard not to panic here. Another dimension. With a whole group of magic people way more experienced than her. Against a being and beings who had all but killed her before.

She closed her eyes, let out a breath.

No. Too much, too many, were counting on her to think that way. Fear was not a bad thing. Succumbing to fear war.

"I'm all for going in with guns blazing, so to speak," Quinn said. "All of us are targets. May as well charge in."

Matt nods. "Okay, I like Quinn's plan. Whisper, watch Shelly and Dawn. They get in trouble, kill whatever is bothering them that isn't one of us. Got it?"

The hellhound lets out an affirmative bark.

Matt calls hellfire to his hands.

Akilah read her knife and casts wards on herself for added protection. "That is not entirely the best option. Keep your wits about you."

"Let's go!" Marlow urged them. They were here and the book and Dr. Strange had to be inside. "We're talking too much and giving Dormammu a chance to sneak way with the book!"
