Anya stood at the corner across from the Thunderbolts HQ waiting for the light to change and the crosswalk signal to come on. She held a paper bag that contained a few containers of Indian food in it since she worked through dinner. A few hours in the lab and Martin's laptop had been modified in order for him to be able to use it. Now it was time to eat and get back to the dozen things she had to read for Ren Tech. After calling her parents and wishing them a happy anniversary and see how they liked her gift. They had been married for three years. Who would have thunk it?

The light changed and Anya crossed Hampshire street. She reached the other side and reached for the door handle of the entrance to the renovated firehouse that served as the TBotls HQ. The blow she didn't see coming hit her on the back of the head and blackness enveloped her.

A large man caught the body before it fell to the ground and picked her up as if she were nothing more than a doll. He put her over his shoulder and walked off into the night.

The next day a picture and a note was delivered to Xavier's Institute For Higher Learning addressed to Misha Romanov.

And in yet another cell...

The darkness was broken by a slit of light, one that grew larger as her cell door drifted open. She hadn't heard the guards coming, but she'd been aware of.. something. There were vibrations in the walls and floors. Something wasn't right.

Getting slowly up, she made her way hesitantly to the door, expecting a guard to yank her out. A minute passed and that didn't happen, but she could hear shouting and far too much noise. Pushing the door open, she looked out quickly. No one. One foot left her cell, then another. Still, no reprisals. She saw movement as other inhabitants of the cells started testing the suddenly open doors. Free? Was she... free?

Not quite. She needed to get the collar on her neck off, then get out of here.

With that goal in mind, she slipped off quietly amid the sudden chaos as the inmates realized the same thing she had. Freedom. Finally.

Dammit... the press of people was making things harder. And since they were possibly in the middle of nowhere in *shudder* Canada, someone had to take charge.

"Okay people!" she shouted. "I'm with the Avengers! And we're getting you all out of here!"

Evie flinched at the loud voice echoing down the corridor. She didn't know who or what the 'Avengers' were, but she wasn't getting caught again. Not now that she'd finally found a key to unlock the collar, glaring at it as she threw it at a wall with an added psionic boost, watching it shatter in satisfaction.

No, she'd be getting out of here now. Unbound, she hovered a few inches off the floor, keeping the press of bodies at bay with her mind, a cleared area around her where no one was touching or bumping into her. Then she started to fly.

Out. She was getting out of here. And she was never going to be caged again.
