Taking a Stand
The world of mortals was still alien to Kael. He wondered just how much longer he would have to stay here. Had his mother found any clue as to those who had created the shadow army that attacked Asgard? If not, then how long would it take? It wasn't as if it was all bad here. The Defenders were good people. Svalin was at least being more tolerant of him. Haljborn tended to be at least partially hostile most of the time. Vernique,, He turns slightly to the small woman holding her Asgardian son. He was fond of the woman. But still.. what was he doing here?

	Stonecutter and Carnivore saw one of their targets go into a local store. They had been sent to LA to destroy the Defenders and it looked like they had just gotten lucky. Two of them had crossed their path. Stonecutter and Carnivore charged into the shoe store by smashing through the plate glass window. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Vernique shrunk a few inches as the glass shattered, clutching her son.

She didn't like the idea of leaving Kael like this, but the instinct was much less strong than in most superheroines. When the chips are down, she's a mother, not a fighter. So she shrinks as much as she can while still holding onto Solver and, as soon as she has an opening, starts running as fast as she can.

	"Get her!" Stonecutter yelled to Carnivore. Then he charged at Kael, grabbing a small bench along the way. Carnivore started to run after the fleeing Vernique. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Kael quickly interposed himself between the two attackers and the fleeing Vernique. "You have other problems." He turns to slam the flat of his blade into Carnivore's face. He knows on Midgard it is preferred that killing be prevented if possible. Kael grabs a cash register and flings it at Stonecutter's head. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Carnivore's speed allowed him to dodge the blow of the sword. He tried slashing at the Dark Elf with the claws on his hands. Stonecutter used the bench to swat the thrown cash register away and into a display. The other patrons in the store were now screaming and starting to run to any exit they could find. Kael tried to get his blade back into position, but Carnivore's claws did cut deeply into his arm. Initially surprised, Kael knew he had enhanced durability from his father's blood, instead twisted the blade to bring Carnivore's claws in a temporary twist. He knew it wouldn't be long before Carnivore got loose, so he attempted a kick with all the force he could muster to send the enhanced mortal back.

He grabs at other objects, throwing them hard at Stonecutter, hoping to keep the pair focused on him rather than Vernique and Solver.

	Carnivore went flying across the store and landed onto a rack of boots. Stonecutter batted away the items thrown at him and when he was close enough he used the bench like a baseball bat to take a swing at Kael. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Kael brings the sword up to block. While it cushions some of the blow, the bench strikes hard, causing his head to ring. He suddenly see three Stonecutters. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Carnivore climbed back to his feet and started in the direction Vernique had fled in. Stonecutter laughed and took another swing with the bench. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Kael manages to dodge the blow outright this time and slams a fist at Stonecutter's gut. "No!" Seeing little choice, Kael takes his sword and launches it like a spear ahead of Carnivore's path. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	The sword caught Carnivore in the back of a thigh and he stopped and fell to the floor. He reached around and grabbed the sword in an effort to get it out. The fist caught Stonecutter in the stomach and the wind was knocked out of him for a moment. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	His arm was hurting from the cuts, and throwing the sword hadn't helped them to heal any. His vision was blurring a little, but he had to take advantage of the situation and try to bring down the faster one. Kael ran at carnivore, reaching back to hit him in the face, trying to clear the fuzz in his vision. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Carnivore was just removing the sword when Kael's punch connected. Carnivore was knocked to the floor by the force of the blow, but he somehow remained conscious. Stonecutter chased after Kael, still swinging the bench. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"Damn it," Kael cursed. he goes back for his blade but takes another shot from Stonecutter. If his vision was blurry before, it was downright hazed now. he swings wildly with the sword to try and at least keep Stonecutter back. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Stonecutter avoided the awkward swing of the sword and went for another swing of the bench. Carnivore took the opportunity of being ignore for a moment and delivered a blow to Kael. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Kael manages to just barely avoid Stonecutter's swing, but is caught by Carnivore's blow. Part of him wanted to fall, but he couldn't. He had to give Vernique and Solver as much time to get away as he could. He can make out the shadow that is Carnivore and rams the hilt of the sword towards it, hoping to connect with Carnivore's face. he tries to keep Stonecutter in view from the corner of his eye.

	Kael's forced to drop the sword and brings his hands up to catch the bench. His arm cried out in protest and his vision was getting blurrier as he could barely make Stonecutter's image out, but he wouldn't stop. He would not fall here. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Iona may of been late to the party, but better late than never. Seeing her friend and the elf prince under attack, she charged Stonecutter with an angry yell as he tried to grab the bench, using her body weight to slam into him, sending them both to the down. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Marlow appeared in the middle of the fight. She quickly took in her teammates' positions and then Kael's condition when Aridis growled at the bad guy. "I got Mr. Kael!" she yelled and cast a spell to take him out of the way. "I have a dimension spell ready. Tell me when!" (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
