The Costs of Doing Business
After her previous run was ruined, Jean-Louise was relieved to finally be on the Kree border sorting out oatmeal orders.  Just one little outpost now, but give her time.  She was giving the senior officers a sample of the new milkshake-like beer recipe she'd learned when she found herself looking out the window.

Gar-Oth had several possible retorts to that, but decided to see where this could go.

"Then what would it take to begin..negotiations?"

"I don't know; I'm in concessions, but if you contact Hala and get the accuser on the line... and he'll kinda have to get on the line, won't he, what with --" Jean-Louise gestured. " -- all this, then both sides can go into the historical records and see about finding some space in the right places. Intragalactic boundaries move all the time."

Well, this was getting interesting. Who knew the food stand girl was so clever?

...Red was bored now. No one to shoot for more than an hour.

"Open war with the Kree will only hurt your people, Highlord. Even if you possess the means to overwhelm even the Kree military, they have alliances, and stand as one of the major movers and shakers in galactic commerce." He makes the best Kree wildlife reference he can that stacks up to what Earthlings would think of as kicking a hornets' nest.

"How many do your people number? Roughly." The gears are turning in Alex's head, slowly but surely, as he's taking account what he knows of Kree territories and population densities.

"I see." Gar-Oth finishes his cup, handing it back to the attendant. "We are well aware of the Kree's might, Starlord. Don't look surprised, we may have been in exile, but we've been watching events for some time. Contact with the Skrulls, the near-decimation of the Cotati, the war with the Skrulls, the creation of the Supreme Intelligence, the ascendance of the Shiar, the War of Three Galaxies, the Kree's conquest and freedom from the Shiar, etcera, etcera." He says with the cool hardness of one who knows indisputable facts. "Considerably more than I doubt the Kree would be willing to accomadate."

"I believe you, Highlord." Alex maintains his composure, even if anyone psychic will get a faint impression like he just smelled something bad. The title's good to toss around now and then, and it's definitely better than 'Heir to the Spartoi Throne' or 'the 50% likelihood Celestial Messiah', but 'Star-Lord' was Dad's title. He doesn't deserve it.

"However, is it perhaps too absolute an opinion to believe all your people would wish to dwell in the same locales that you do? You obviously must have found a place to thrive, to build up such a legion and wealth of resources. If you can gain an estimate of those among your people who truly desire their ancestral grounds, I will execute, with all the authority vested in me, the means to give them a place to live in the Kree territories of the here and now."

Gar-Oth steeples his hands as he thinks.

"You're correct. Our space consists of three states bound within a triple-alliance. The Bastion, to which I belong, the Republic, and the Free Territories. Each has its own leadership structures and government styles. I do not have the authority to speak for all of them, and most would never leave our adopted space. However, I can establish a dialogue to see how many of them are willing to contribute information to the issue."

"Thank you, your lordship." Alex nods his head, accepting a glass of the offered refreshments. "I will make preparations with the Galactic Council and the higher authorities of the Kree."

No fighting. This had moved into officially sucking. Azura shealthed Godslayer, but didn't move to sit or take a drink.

Was being soooo boring.

But free food was being free food. So Red was munching on some kind of cookie.

"Then we are in agreement. I will convene a summit of our heads-of-state to see which of them would be willing to participate. In the meantime, please my hospitality. When you are finished, my people can escort you safely off the ship."

Val-Oth didn't seem a all happy by this turn of events, but he kept his anger of the cold variety.
