Courting Death - Signs @ 10:12 pm

[info]notinplainsight:

Kalypso wasn't sleeping, she didn't need to sleep, but she was letting herself doze a bit and let her mind wander. Jack was asleep next to her and she was aware of his rhythmic breathing. She idly wondered what he was dreaming of and while it was tempting to peek into his dreams, Kal respected his privacy.

Her mind wandered.

Then came the warning from her mother. "Stay away from Olympia!" Then Sersi's mental presence was gone. Cut off as quickly as it came.

Kal quickly sat up in the bed. "Mother?" she sent out.

No response.

She searched for other Eternals and found none.

Grocery Shopping (meme, Nick) @ 02:02 am

[info]notafailure:

Dad had given her a quick ride back to Earth for a visit. And at her request, when she needed a Business Break from Denver, he dropped her off quite a ways away from home.
New Orleans grocery stores. So handy. One brown paper bag full of pralines, one filled with containers of pre-mixed spices. And just a quick trip to the liquor section. She's not going to buy anything from the liquor section. That would be illegal. But she's a paying customer of the store. And she's going to stand here with a notebook and a lot of staring as she sorts through the bottles of scotch and bourbon.
Jean-Louise sketches. She's checked the chemistry books enough to spot ethanol. But there's so much more to it than that.

No news is being good news and this news is being bad news @ 08:59 pm

[info]needsmoredakka:

Red was, in general, a very happy sentient. He had a job he enjoyed, he got to shoot people with very large guns. Min-Dee in R&D gave him tummy rubs and experimental weapons that were probably illegal in some sectors of the universe. He had good friends, he liked a good drink, and a good fight. He got all of those.

Which made it more curious as to why he was in one of the Station's bars, trying very hard to get very drunk, as very quickly as he could.

It probably had something to do with the datapad on the table, full of mail from home.

Not Creating the Universe for This... @ 03:51 am

[info]notafailure:

The fruits were surprisingly Earth-like (blackberry-like, peach-like, and pear-like, respectively) for being readily available out here. Some sugar was easy to do, as she'd had a lot of practice with it. On a less synthesizing-oriented note, she'd really been working on these crusts.

And eventually, six pies are cooling on the racks of Jean-Louise's little stand in Knowhere.

The Costs of Doing Business @ 09:17 pm

[info]notafailure:

After her previous run was ruined, Jean-Louise was relieved to finally be on the Kree border sorting out oatmeal orders.  Just one little outpost now, but give her time.  She was giving the senior officers a sample of the new milkshake-like beer recipe she'd learned when she found herself looking out the window.

Hitchiking from Home @ 02:46 pm

[info]spacepalm:

Alex runs across the hangar, even as he can hear the engine of the craft humming to life and the door is closing. "Hold that shuttle!" He manages a leap and manages to get in the door narrowly enough that it would have caught a boot-heel if he weren't carrying them in his arms. He's holding a jacket as well, and his belt and top button of his pants are still undone. He'd found out there was a suitable departure just after he'd checked his calendar and realized what day it was, and had ran at top speed from his room, despite being fresh from the shower.

Once he's safely onboard (read: sprawled across the floor of the entry area), he takes a look around. Checking which ship it was had escaped him at the moment.

Concession Stand in the Middle of Knowhere. @ 06:42 pm

[info]notafailure:

Jean-Louise made two kinds of rock candy.  The kind with sugar and the kind made of mineral quartz, because some of the silicon-based lifeforms would get their hopes up when they saw the first kind.  She was careful to keep the two separate so she'd always sell the right one.

Business was pretty good.  In a place this diverse, she didn't have as much market-targetting to do, but she still tried to pay attention to possibilities.

She'd also fixed some pizza and was having a break to have a slice herself.

Setting Up Shop. @ 04:55 pm

[info]notafailure:

Jean-Louise sorted out all her docking permissions and began to look Knowhere Station over.  Not bad, she guessed.  If she could secure a permit, she could do well parking here for a while.

It was really hard to admit, but it'd be nice to be around lots of people.
