(Let freedom ring!) A bid for independence...
Armed with a notepad and PDA, a list of properties, and a Hulk-sized travel mug of hot coffee, Sammy used her elbow to knock on Tim's door. Today was the day and he /promised/ he would go with her to check out apartments. She was going to hold him to it, unless he really had work to do, or an important experiment on the cooker, or if he really didn't want to go. Her back up, Power, was currently in the middle of his psych eval, and Alice was off again. Tim would be the better choice. He had an eye for details that her parents would take seriously, and he was fun to hang out with.

	Tim frowned at the mention of Power's name and he was quiet. This was a sign and not a good one. Just how many dates had she been on with Power? What did she see in him? (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

They managed to get down the stairs and catch the next train. Sammy spied a seat and tugged Tim over to push him into it. It was easier to talk to him if he was seated. No craning neck to ache later.

His sudden quiet suggested to her that he didn't like going on the subway. It wasn't her favorite either. Being underground was something of a phobia for her, one that she refused to acknowledge. That would be a weakness and you didn't admit to those.

"The first one has a lot of potential. If you like it, we can stop right there and I'll start with the paperwork. I got lucky and found one with an empty top floor apartment. No balcony, but there's a rooftop area that I can put a few pots and a chair to relax. If I add a sandbox I can pretend I'm at the beach. There are two of the top floor so if you're serious about finding a place too, we can be neighbors."

	She beamed at him. Whatever he thought about the idea, he was at least going to take a look. "I hope it does. It's close to city transport, although I'm not giving up hope on getting a flying car of my own. There's a neighborhood grocery store on the block, and a coffee shop. I won't starve." 	"No, I don't want to blow up my new apartment." He always sounded to logical. The guy could make beer, but not a grill burger. That was so not logical. "All I can do without making anything explode is brew coffee. Thank god for take out. Although I probably won't get to spend enough time there to worry about meals. But I need some space, Tim." 	Sammy got in close behind him and squeezed his hand. She didn't want to get separated. It would use unnecessary energy if she had to stop time to find him again. Idea! For Christmas she'd get him a hat with a flag on it. Then she'd never lose him in a crowd again! (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Once more on the hunt, Sammy moves faster and tugs hard on his hand to get him to keep up.

The first apartment on the list was a little worse for wear. SHIELD safe houses tended to be secure. Safe was a whole different matter. It wasn't that she expected to move into a hotel-type room with everything working, but she was hoping for more in the convenience department. Like a microwave.

But, it wouldn't be hers if she didn't have to work for it, including cleaning it up and replacing things. Like the cracked window. Water faucet handles. Water faucet.

"Tell me what you think, and don't bog down in the cosmetic issues. I want to know if this could be liveable in a month."

"That's why I have a list," she sighed. Why did she think it would be easy? Oh yeah, because she hadn't actually had to think about this kind of stuff in her entire life. And she knew nothing about electrical systems.

"You're right, of course. But I will let the maintenance division know they need to do something about this place. Now, the next one nearest here is another subway stop down the line. I'd need a coffee refill too."
