It had taken some trial and error to get on the right track. Irina figured that if the compass could point them in the right direction, it could possibly take them there if she could focus her powers through it. It took some time, but eventually she got it to work. They went through a portal and arrived in a huge chamber with sandstone walls and columns. Light came from the far end and voices echoed in the large chamber. She put a finger to her lips to warn the others to keep quiet. Slowly they moved through the shadows and made sure to keep behind the columns when possible. They made their way toward the light and toward the voices. (Reply to this)(Thread)

As the Maya and Inca were ancient-and-medieval contacts of the Nova Romans, Corey's not unfamiliar with who the bat guy is. Which might, from a certain point of view, make what he says all the stranger as he turns around at oncoming god and essentially throws half the floor between them into the air. It's a single Latin word that can mean a great many things. In the imperative form he's using, it's often used to mean 'Hush,' for instance. Or it can also be a direction for the addressee to perform certain explicit acts that are not considered appropriate in Nova Roman society. Normally, one would assume a guy like Corey would only use it for Hush. But judging by the look in his eyes, maybe not so much. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
