A Not So Quiet Day In the Big Easy @ 07:42 pm

[info]nextgen_misc:

It was a quiet autumn day in the city of New Orleans. Tourists wandered the streets and moved about their business. The local superhero team, The Champions, were enjoying the quiet and going about their daily routines.

Of course that was about to change.

It had taken many small jumps to get here, but the Winter Guard, some small subset, did suddenly arrive on the Champions' doorstep.

Looking For Trouble (open to Champions) @ 11:10 am

[info]quitethecharmer:

Vincent strolled down the streets of New Orleans. It had been years since he'd been in the city. Sure, all the super teams had done their part in helping with recovery efforts, but he'd never seen the city as unspoiled as now. Hm. City. It didn't seem like the right word. It was more like a town that just stretched on and on. It was charming, that way. Food, alcohol, and people. Even without demigod senses anymore the air was rich with smells; it didn't smell badly, just enormously. And there was music. Music just about everywhere. It was a nice place to take it easy.

Of course, he wasn't there to take it easy. He'd picked up the trail of something during one of his meditations, headed from New York towards this city. Nothing so heavy on the mystical scale of things that he felt like he needed to alert Strange or Mistress Jennifer, or sound an alert, but just... something there. He'd grabbed his general gear and followed in pursuit of it. He hadn't been out in the field on his own enough lately, so a tracking expedition was certainly something he could use. Honestly, he was glad for the diversion. He'd been feeling stagnant as of late. Sure, school was progressing nicely, and he was even starting to make peace with his duties as the heir to Latveria, but he'd still been unable to shake the feeling that he was still just following a course someone else had set out for him.

Maybe... maybe it was time for something else.

His introspection is halted by a string of shrill squeals from a nearby bar with a 'Ladies Night' banner over the door. A bit off the pitch he'd expect for just drunken partying. Harmless but ridiculously bright bolts of green and blue light start hurtling out the windows and swinging front doors. He set his jaw and ran for the door, only to get bowled over by a sudden tide of humanity pouring out from it. He was completely blindsided, and ended up knocked on his rear. He caught site of the people fleeing. Each of them had something changed in their eyes. One green, one blue, devoid of any features. The partiers started going mad up and down the street. Senseless damage, tearing of clothes, and all manner of singing and screaming. Not malicious, but overwhelmingly vast, and spreading.

"...Oh Hel..." He knew what it was now, and he was going to need backup to contain them all.

Its the End of the World as We Know It @ 12:48 pm

[info]treadlightly:

They'd done their scouting. They've put up all the defenses they could, and put themselves in a position to attack. Buck has reviewed what they have on hand, and the situations exploding around them.

"Alright, folks, thank you for your patience. I know its been a tense situation waiting and doing patrol work... but I think we've identified some key points in the enemy strategy. We're still going to have to be careful. We're dealing with major influences here, but...

Alpha Flight... and their current guests, should be obvious. There's every sign that more of the Great Beasts will be awoken... that's a top priority situation.

X-Men... and the Genoshans - in following up the uprisings earlier, we've identified a 'Cult of Apocalypse', who took the whole massive fight before as a sign its time for En Sabbah Nur's awakening. We've located some of their likely strike points, your leadership has marked maps.

Champions and Thunderbolts, we've located a massive danger in the Red Lord. Its been determined that it will likely take both teams to deal with it.

Nightstalkers and Big Hero 6, we have a second target of the same type, Sakhmet. You two are on that.

SHIELD will be picking up on all of the general monitoring, crowd safety and control, and other work we've been doing in the lead up to this.

Finally, Avengers, Defenders and FF - you're with me. We're targeting the masterminds behind this.

Any questions?"

From the mystic realm to reality @ 08:25 pm

[info]nextgen_parent:

K'un-L'un, mystic city inhabited by the H'ylthri, was in a separate dimension and was only reached by magical means. Today Danny Rand, the Iron Fist, was trying to bring K'un-L'un into the real world and he was succeeding. The fabled city was entering the normal world and the ground shook. Shockwaves moved through the ground and spread out over most of Asia.

The tremors and the shaking of the ground disturbed the sleep of two powerful beasts. Fin Fang Foom and Godzilla were now waking.

Limerick, Ireland @ 01:21 am

[info]orderofphoenix:

Moriarty was pleased that his plans were going so well. Then again he knew they would. He was Moriarty after all and all others paled in comparison when it came to brains. His plans were foolproof and in the end he would get what he wanted.

Today the object of his attention was Calabdbolg in the castle of King John in Limerick, Ireland. He was not at the castle, but he was keeping an eye on his team. No way would he put himself in danger or at risk of getting caught.

The team entered the building, but unknown to Moriarty and the team the silent alarm was tripped and had alerted authorities. In Chicago an antique dealer got notified of the robbery in progress and called the Champions of New Orleans.

Rocking Around The Christmas Tree (Champions) @ 08:01 pm

[info]nextgen_holiday:

Christmas. Yule. Saturnalia. Dies Natalis Solis Invicti. Many cultures have celebrated and still celebrate a winter festival. There have been many names for it over the millennia. No matter the name it is a time to come together and celebrate with feasts and gifts with friends and loved ones.

Each culture has a legendary figure who would deliver gifts to children during this time. In Russia and some Slavic cultures he is known as Ded Moroz, Grandfather Frost, and comes not on Christmas but on New Year’s along with his granddaughter Snegurochka, or ‘”Snow Maiden”. In the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe he is known as Father Christmas. In the Netherlands and Belgium he is known as Saint Nicholas or “Sinterklaas” and in France he is known as Père Noël. In the United States we know him as Santa Claus.

No matter the name or who is delivering gifts, it is the season of peace, joy and togetherness. It is the season for thinking about loved ones, friends and those less fortunate. It is a time to witness the goodness and generosity the human race is capable of. It is a time for peace on Earth and goodwill toward man.

[info]fallingup:

Adrian had called up Corey earlier that week and the idea of him stopping by to visit was brought up. Adrian thought it would have been a logistics nightmare given how far it would be to get there until Corey had mentioned that a teammate of his could easily just pick him up while she was out shopping for the team.

Adrian had packed a duffel bag with enough stuff so that he could stay the weekend. He was a little surprise with how easy it had been for Irina to just come by and pick him up and take him to the Champions headquarters where he now found himself in the kitchen.

Zombiepocalypse @ 07:55 pm

[info]nextgen_misc:

The moon was rising over the city of New Orleans, however, it wasn't the only thing rising in the city tonight. Corpses were rising from their resting places and starting to move through the city. Decaying flesh hung from rotting bones as they shambled through the streets. At first the tourists thought it was a joke or some sort of production, but when the zombies started grabbing tourists and started biting they knew otherwise.

Elsewhere restless spirits moved around and in their anger and anguish stirring up objects and moving them around. Some discarded trashed hit tourists and sent them running. The spirits were encouraged by this and became more and more violent.

The source of this unrest moved through the streets behind Baron Samedi in the form of a cult. He controlled the zombies and the spirits and they had summoned him. The leader of the cult was quite pleased at the chaos that was now present in the streets of New Orleans.

Party in the Big Easy - Happy Birthday Corey! @ 06:28 pm

[info]perenawska:

Corey's birthday was easy to remember. Fittingly, it was on Earth Day and Irina and Lyta had been /planning/. Corey was like a little brother to them and they were going to make sure that his birthday was celebrated with a big fuss.

Irina left the catering and party supply part to Lyta. Organization was not one of Irina's strong points, it almost wasn't a point at all. Irina took care of the guests. She had delivered invitations to all of Corey's friends in Westchester and his family in Nova Roma last week with a promise to transport them if they wanted to go. She didn't mind playing taxi for events like this.

Corey wasn't hard to get a gift for, but the kid didn't think much about new clothes or shoes for himself, so in addition to an Ark Irina got him some clothes and shoes. She also got him some shade-grown chocolate bars.

When it was time, she went to fetch the invited guests.

On Wrongs Swift Vengeance Waits @ 09:31 am

[info]ng_avatars:

Wrath, being the most feared of the seven, led the ceremony in the abandoned warehouse. The seven demons stood around Harold Jenkins and chanted while their followers stood in a circle around them. Harold was a criminal of the worst sort and had just finished killing a family of four when the demons grabbed him and offered him great power. They chanted along with their demon masters.

Wrath held the Medallion of Power and with it they would being a new Vengeance into the world. This one would serve them and their goals and hopefully distract the Ghost Rider and his companions. The city wasn't big enough for the demons and the Champions and New Orleans was the perfect city for them. Vegas was too showy and over the top for most their tastes.

The voice rose in volume until the ceremony reached it's climax. There was a bright burst of flame around Harold and when it died down Vengeance stood in place.

"Go," Wrath said. "Your job is just beginning. There is a city awaiting you. We have even provided you a motorcycle."

Vengeance nodded and climbed onto the waiting bike. The bike roared to life and Vengeance rode out of the warehouse.

Happy Birthday Lyta! (Champions) @ 05:32 am

[info]perenawska:

Irina had gotten to know Lyta pretty well in the past eleven months the Champions had been together, including finding out when her birthday was. The day had finally rolled around. Irina had gone with a pair of Prada Motorcycle Boots for if and when her boyfriend took her for a ride. She also gave her a card that promised transportation to anywhere in the world, a trip to the spa and a night of drinking.

She coordinated with Corey for the food for the celebration. Corey was cooking dinner and Irina had taken the responsibility of getting the cake. Finding Lyta's favorite kind of cake had been a little difficult to find out, but she had managed to do it. She and Corey got everything ready, assembled the Champions and called Lyta downstairs.

A Time Honored Tradition (Rate the Hunk) @ 07:49 am

[info]anyastark:

Anya didn't have many traditions in her family, unless you counted being a bastard as one of them. The Avengers however did have a few time honored traditions that must be kept going. Sure saving the world from alien invasions, beating up the world level threats and other heroic things were some of those traditions, but not everything could be about beating up the bad guys. One such non-heroic thing was Rate the Hunk.

Each year the female Avengers got together and rated their fellow male Avengers. The new generation had eagerly picked up and kept this tradition going. However, they had expanded it a bit.

The day after Thanksgiving was a perfect day to avoid shopping crowds, take over the rec room, banish the males and look at pictures of them. Anya had run it last year and she took it upon herself to do it again this year. Invitations went out to fellow female heroes. Avengers, X-Women, Defenders, Champions and Thunderbolts all got invitations to come to New York to Rate the Hunk.

Food, drink and snacks were laid in. Signs were put up on the doors and electronic surveillance was set up to see if males dared to interrupt.

Anya settled in on one of the couches and queued up the stash of photos she had collected in the past year.

Giving Thanks @ 05:08 pm

[info]nextgen_holiday:

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." JFK

In America today is a day for being thankful for the things in people's lives. Today was a day to celebrate family, friends, prosperity and health with food, family and friends. It is a time to reflect on what is important us and to recognize the gratitude we hold for having those things in our lives.

All Hallow's Eve (open to all) @ 11:34 am

[info]nextgen_holiday:

All Hallow's Eve, or Halloween as it has been come to be called, is a popular holiday with children and adults alike. It is a holiday that had its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain or Summer's End. Samhain celebrated the end of the "lighter half" of the year and the beginning of the "darker half".

On this evening the barriers between this world and the Otherworld were believed to be thin and the spirits, good and bad, of the dead could pass through. The spirits of the family's ancestors were welcomed in while evil and bad spirits were warded off by the wearing of masks and costumes. The costumes and masks disguised one as a harmful spirit and avoided harm from others.

It was also a harvest celebration and time to take stock of food stores for the winter. Livestock were slaughtered and the meat prepared for storage. It was the final harvest of the year and the crops were then stored for the winter. Celebrations included bonfires and tales of the family's ancestors.

It was a celebration of the dead and of the harvest.

Today we dress up in scary and not so scary costumes and masks and go door to door for candy or attend costume parties. It is a night for revelry, pranks and fun.

Irina and Lyta returned to the Champions headquarters and informed the other members about running into the visitor from the other dimension and that the bad Avengers were here and on the loose. They were shown in and they all gathered in what was once the main room of the nightclub.

Shopping Take Two @ 07:45 am

[info]perenawska:

Their first planned shopping trip had been a disaster. Not the end of the world type of disaster, but enough of one to qualify as a disaster. Now that they had been home for a short while, Irina grabbed Lyta for another shopping trip. This one, however, would be in New Orleans. No teleporting or portals involved what so ever.

Shopping was an active sport and it required drinks and food. There was a pause from the day's activity to grab some food and a few drinks in the French Quarter. Irina let Lyta pick the place and within no time they were seated and cooling off with some potent drinks.

"The best part about shopping," Irina said with a grin before she downed her shot of vodka.

[info]lytaworthington:

"Home sweet home," Lyta said, grinning at Irina. "I'm taking a shower and then asking Corey if he wouldn't mind cooking dinner a little early." She had no idea what time it was, though she was guessing mid-afternoon, early evening. You lose track of time when you're locked up in another dimension.

Lyta made her way inside with Irina.

Labor Day - Champions @ 06:16 pm

[info]nextgen_holiday:

New Orleans was all about great food and Labor Day was a great excuse to indulge in great food. The Champions, like the other teams and people across the United States, were celebrating Labor Day. Their celebration was on the rooftop of their headquarters instead of on a beach or a lawn.

Having a teleporter on the team meant that they didn't stick to normal cookout fare. Food from all around the world was bought and brought back. Fruits, vegetables and all different kind of meats were prepared for the celebration. A table and chairs was carried up to the rood in addition to a large grill.

A Challenge of Godly Proportions @ 07:55 pm

[info]son_of_hercules:

Following his conversation with Corey, Argo had spent quite a bit of time thinking. He was still uncertain what to do with the fan club (perhaps he could get them to transfer their attentions to Corey? The boy was currently without female companionship of his own and women liked artists, did they not? Yes, if it could be done, he decided this was the best plan, and a wonderful reward for his loyal worshiper), but he had, at least, resolved to do something about the rest of the situation.

The problem, of course, came in locating Harmony. It had become rather difficult of late to find the two of them in the Champions HQ for any significant stretch of time, or even in the same part of it when they were.

This would take cunning. ...Or possibly just sitting in the living room with an eye on the door. That plan was also good.

August 28th, 2010

Downer @ 06:17 pm

[info]sandcastlegod:

Corey was concerned for Argo and Harmony and hoped their situation worked out as best possible. But he had something much cheerier to look forward to after dinner. Irina had snagged him an English translation edition of a magazine that had an interview with Kseniya. Read more... )
It had only ever really been a joke, of course. 'Saving himself for Kseniya Simonova.' Of course it had. Of course any rational person knew that he had little chance of meeting her for any length of time and that she was several years older than he. It had only been a joke, explaining his perfectly legitimate lack of interest in pursuing girls right now in terms of his adoration of Kseniya. It wasn't really any more purely-speculative an infatuation now than it had been before.

But...

When it came absolutely down to it, Corey wasn't always a rational person. And he'll just curl up sadly in his room.

Not a Fan @ 11:16 pm

[info]a_blessing:

She barely noticed them originally but now she couldn't help but see them or hear them nearly any time she walked by a window.  Argo's fan club.  A collection of women with questionable morals and surgically enhanced breasts.  Women who threw underwear with their phone numbers in them.  Woman Argo had interest in.

Women who were so different from herself.  Harmony turned away from her mirror with a sigh, again trying to convince herself that Argo wouldn't notice her period had it not been for some wine so she just needed to get over it.  Yet...she couldn't.  Spa day and shopping?  Thought about Argo.  Went to the grocery store?  Thought about Argo?  It was getting ridiculous and with that in mind, she wandered to the kitchen in search of a snack in the hope she'd get to clear her head.  Of course, on the way she passed a window and saw the fan club so when she arrived in the kitchen, Harmony looked like someone'd kicked a puppy.

This...was going to be an issue.

Confusion of the Gods! @ 09:29 pm

[info]son_of_hercules:

To say that Argo had been conflicted of late would have been an understatement. Oh, he still ventured out and he still visited bars, but if anyone was paying careful attention to his comings and goings, they would find he had spent virtually every night at home for a while now. He seemed less interested in the fan club, though they still gathered outside daily, and those that were prone to still continued to throw their undergarments. And Argo greeted them cheerily, but if you watched carefully, you could tell his heart was not in it.

In ancient times, mortals prayed to the gods for assistance and guidance in their lives. In modern times, it would seem, the gods, or at least, this particular god, would need to turn to a worshiper for advice.

So. He needed to find Corey.

Alone at Home (or is he?) @ 10:46 pm

[info]son_of_hercules:

Argo had woken late, with snoring that probably would have been loud enough to wake the dead if there had been any on the property.  Fortunately, his snoring caused no zombies, but he did seem to find himself alone in the Champion's headquarters when he did wake.  After a shower, he dressed and headed into the kitchen.

Corey had left a note stating there was food in the fridge for him, with instructions--patient, careful, and precise instructions--on how to reheat it.

As he let that reheat, he checked the external security camera.  Mitzy, Cindy, Candy, Mandy, Daphne (Mmm... Daphne), Sheryl, Carol, Bessie, Alice, Caitlin, Caitlynn, Cait Lynn, Mary Anne, Ginger...   It was a light crowd today.

And yet...  debauchery was not in his heart today.  Oh, certainly, he had partaken in it from time to time in recent history, but he was not as sure his heart was as in it as it once was.

His food finished heating, he headed into the living room to turn on the TV.  Clash of the Titans was in the DVD player still, and he decided an additional viewing would be acceptable fair.

Going Through a Thing (Girl Champions Bonding) @ 11:15 pm

Then she ended up finding herself snapping one CD in half because that pig from Weapon X had sweet talked her into buying it all those months ago when she was still new to this universe and so naive about the dangers here.

She manages to get dressed in something that feels normal after than small temper tantrum. Finding that she wants to get out of the building she decides to go see if the other girls on the team are up for getting out of the base for the day. The boys can fend for themselves.

Heading into the kitchen where everyone seems to meet up she waits to see when everyone will find themselves drawn into the kitchen. It should be easy to talk them into going out.

All Things Being the Same (open) @ 07:29 pm

[info]perenawska:

Irina sat on the barstool in a bar down the street from Champions' headquarters. She didn't feel like going back there just yet, but this place was close enough to make her feel like she was home. Since the incident with rescuing the kids and with her father, Irina hadn't been back to the Champions' headquarters. She didn't want to see the stares or the look of accusation in their eyes.

She didn't blame them. The man who had experimented on children and had done many other horrible things was her father and she hadn't told them. Granted she didn't know about the horrible things he did until Nicholas worked his mojo on Alexi, but it didn't matter. He was a horrible man, a monster, and she had stuck up for him. She protected him from them and didn't hand him over to the authorities like she should have.

Irina gulped down a shot of vodka and refilled the glass.

Maybe it was time to move on. It's not like the Champions were going to forgive her any time soon and quite frankly she didn't blame them. She had in a way betrayed them and she deserved everything she got in return. Leaving Russia and home hadn't felt this bad.

Irina sighed heavily and drank down another shot.

It was time to call the Winter Guard and get reassigned.

You say it's your birthday... @ 08:27 pm

[info]lytaworthington:

Through clever research (also known as sneaking a quick pick at her i.d card when she wasn't looking), Lyta had found out that it was Irina's birthday. While it wasn't thirty, twenty-nine was still a pretty big reason to celebrate. Lyta'd bought her a new pair of brand-new, top of the line throwing knives, and fully intended on taking her out drinking with anyone that wished to join them. It was all on her.

Small box containing the knives in hand, Lyta knocked on Irina's door.

Saving the Kids @ 04:57 pm

[info]perenawska:

Irina had to concentrate on the image that Lyta had sent to her, but after a few moments she had been able to open a portal to a spot just inside the main building. Her knives had been out and ready when she stepped through. They went flying through the air heading toward the two guards that had been standing near the door. The knives hit them in the chest and they fell to the ground. Stepping through portals and into trouble was quite common for her.

"Let's go," she called back to the others.

Deception @ 04:12 pm

[info]temperence:

Alisa hated Canada... what's worse, she hated that it took her twenty four hours to just get a flight to this place! (Why did so many people even wish to come here at this time of year, anyway!?) She held her suitcase tightly as her eyes peered about the airport, looking for the staff member who was going to take her to the facility. It did not take her long to find the person. They were dressed in a suit and tie, looking quite formal... and a little out of place. She could not help but roll her eyes as she dragged her luggage over to the man.

"Excuse me... are you..."

"Yes, I am Dr. Bradley of the Mencer Institute. You mus be Ms. LeBeau." Dr. Bradley had a smile from ear to ear, which made Alisa a little nervous. She was about to open her mouth to say something, as he took her suitcase from her, and began to walk with her outside of the airport. "We at the Mencer Institute are so pleased you are looking to get better. this must be a really big step for you."

"You 'ave no idea." Alisa frowned, folding her arms over her chest as they finally walked outside. Even though it was Summer time, this area of Canada was still cold!

"Well, we aim to help young mutants like yourself. Society has thrown most mutants away, leading in so many problems. We merely wish to help mutants understand you do have a place in society." Dr. Bradley continued to smile, he looked over as a van with the Institute's name and logo pulled up. It appeared legitimate, so Alisa raised no protest as her luggage was put into the van, and she was offered a seat in the back.

"Sounds nice ah guess." Inside, Alisa wanted to turn around and go back. She already missed the Champions and Nick. Well, she just missed Nick, a lot. As well as her job, playing in the park with Argo, eating Corey's great food. But Irina was right, she had issues, and if she didn't get them worked out, it would be bad for all of them. Especially if she had such anger towards Lyta... who really had not done anything to her! She put her seatbelt on as the Van's side door closed, and Dr. Bradley took a seat in the passenger seat with the driver.

"Don't worry none, we'll take good care of you. And once you've completed our program, you'll be a whole new woman." Dr. Bradley smiled back at Alisa, then smirked as he pushed a button, locking all of the doors of the van, and putting up a shield that blocked Alisa from the front of the vechile. He then pressed another button, sending out some gas into the section of the Van Alisa was stuck in.

This was so not happening to her. She hated knock out gas, especially after Arcade used it against her in Murder World. Then again, who DID like knock out gas. Alisa fought to try and get her seatbelt off, but her powers went off, signally that it was locked together with a mobile device once closed in place. Damnit, she should have known that before even putting it on! She coughed and hacked, trying to find some way of getting out, only to fall into a deep slumber from the gas.

"Yes, when we're done with you, Ms. LeBeau, you will be a completely different woman. A perfect weapon for our program."

Street Urchins @ 05:30 am

[info]nextgen_citizen:

Four, as the girl was known as, looked at the boy standing next to her. Her stomach was twisted up in hunger and she needed to eat. Soon. It had been a few days since the last time they managed to find some food. Dumpsters outside of restaurants were great places to find something resembling edible, but they were usually chased away before they could really find anything worth eating.

The boy shrugged.

"We have to eat," Four said.

"I know," Ten, as he was called, answered. "There's a building there that looks like a club. Maybe there's something in the dumpster out back in the alley." She was right. They had to eat soon. It had been a week since they escaped from the building that had been their home for the past few months. They had no memories of anything before that.

There had been an /incident/ and the two had managed to escape. Ten had always been curious about the outside world. They had made their way to New Orleans and lived in the streets.

Four and Ten made their way to the dumpster behind the club and started rooting around in it.

"Seriously... ah ain' DAT bad!" @ 01:18 pm

[info]temperence:

Alisa could not help but find herself frowning as she lay back on the Therapist couch. Every session was pretty much like this, since Nick got her to actually go. She was never happy to be there, and never happy to hear what her therapist "tried" to recommend to her. She put her arms under her head, and just listened to Doctor Kimes go on, and on...

"Miss LeBeau... I seriously think you should go to a more therapeutic environment. Perhaps an In-Patient program." The Doctor sat behind his desk, tapping a bright yellow pad with some expensive looking pen. His free hand adjusted his glasses as he continued to speak. "Though you have made great progress, you still are a bit emotionally stunted. You easily get frustrated and angered at some people... mainly this "Lyta" person you keep mentioning. You also seem to maintain a rather... well... unhealthy relationship with this "Nick" person. Though I applaud him for managing to get you to come to therapy twice a week. I fear you degrade yourself around him; he is a tool to lower yourself to how you view yourself. And that is not fair to either one of you."

"Ah take dat as more o' an opinion an' non a diagnosis." She continued to frown, her red on black eyes narrowing quite a bit.

"Miss LeBeau. Some of the things you are going through are from the trauma of the sexual abuse you suffered." Doctor Kimes sighed, leaning back in his plush leather chair, while pinching the bridge of his nose. "You repressed much of it, and once it came out... you have not been able to figure out how to handle it properly. You refuse to go to survivor meetings, you rarely speak about it anymore to me, and you bottle up your rage and anger in a bottle much too small to contain it. One day, that bottle will shatter, and I fear you will, as well."

"Now dat is jus' a hypothesis." She smirked a little, finally closing her eyes. "Ah've met you halfway. Ah come here, ah talk, an' den ah go. Ah take some o' what you say under advisement... de rest ah pretty much drown out."

"Stubborn as always." He groaned, looking back over at Alisa. "You have a high IQ, but you are allowing your emotions to dictate your logic at times. This is what I am trying to get into your thick skull. You have the emotional age of a twelve year old child! You have locked away those emotions for so long; you do not know how to handle them. And because of that, you act out in what I consider to be "odd ways". Alisa, I know I cannot force you to go, but there is this lovely facility in Canada that deals with what you are going through. From the life of a street child, the sexual abuse you suffered from, as well as your own mutant powers..."

"Wait, what does bein' a mutant 'ave to deal wit' all dis shit?" This caught her attention. Alisa raised an eyebrow, carefully looking at Doctor Kimes. This was something she had not done, even since she started to go to therapy here.

"Well, I do not think you have even dealt with the fact you are different from society, in more ways than one. For children who discover they are mutants, a majority of them to not seek help with the emotional damage such a discovery can cause them." Doctor Kimes opened up his desk, taking out a brochure. "This place is specifically for mutants, ones who were thrown away by society and lack any direction in their life. They offer emotional support, counseling, a nice scenic environment, as well as four star accommodations. It's a charity run organization, so you would not be charged for going. I think it would be a good place for you to go."

"Ah'll look it over. But no promises..." That frown was pretty much set in stone as she sat up from her couch. Doctor Kimes walked over, handing her the brochure.

"Look, I think this would be the best course of action, Miss Lebeau. I really do not wish to read in the newspaper that you beat up this "Lyta" woman because you are jealous she gets to live the kind of life you were denied. Or that you died from some kinky game with this "Nick" fellow." He folded his arms over his chest, watching as Alisa slowly got up off the couch and started to head for the door. "Just think this through, Miss LeBeau. You can offer this world so much, if you just got the help you needed."

"Like ah said Doc, ah'll t'ink about it. No promises." She rolled her eyes as she made her way out of the room. She really did not want to listen to anymore of what this guy was telling her. He kept pushing this place each and every session now for weeks! Before he could chime in with something else, Alisa cut him off. "Ah'll see you in t'ree days, ah guess."

"Oh... of course." The doctor just stood there, nodding his head as Alisa left the room, giving off a sigh of relief once she left. She was, probably by far, one of THE most difficult paitents he ever tried to treat. Now he just needed to see a therapist of his own!

*************************

It took Alisa sometime to get back to the Champions Base, she stopped by "Papa Gumbo's" and picked up something for everyone to eat. She closed the door with her hip, and made her way into the kitchen, shouting.

"Ah'm back! Ah got everyone some food if you wan' it! If non... well... it'll go ta waste an' Corey will be pissed off! An' we all wouldn' wan' dat!" She smirked, taking out the stupid brochure her therapist gave her. As she waited for the others, she started to leaf through it and mutter to herself. "Seriously ain' dat bad!"

Heaven Can't Wait (open to Champions) @ 06:20 pm

[info]a_blessing:

Harmony always opted to go to St. Vincent's for mass on Sunday mornings.  They were one of the rare Catholic churches that still did sunrise services once a month, services that had been Harmony's favorite since she was a little girl back in Kansas.  Nowadays they were more than just favored; now they were practical, given how nocturnal Sin generally was.  He'd been very honest from the beginning--he didn't do the "God thing."  Much to her surprise this hadn't put her off.  Harmony chose to accept it and not to press.  He never stopped her from worship and she appreciated that.  It was just an item of life they could not share but had found a middle ground.  This was, she thought, how relationships were supposed to work.  It didn't mean that she had to completely leave Sin out of the little things that made her sunrise mass so important to her.  Coffee and pastries were also part of the routine for her and sunrise services played to her advantage: this early in the morning there were now crowds, only the devoted slipping from the cathedral and onto the morning-lit streets.

Smiling to herself, she paid for breakfast before slowly walking up the street and back to Sin's.  Her mind was already on surprising him, thoughts far from anything more than that.  Distracted, she misses the way the shadows pull from the corners of buildings and that the birds have stopped singing.   She misses everything until she hears a rustle of wings and then a blood-curdling screech-like noise right behind her as a dark, winged creature descends from the sky and heads right for her sending the other people on the street scattering.  And the winged beast is not the only one, just the largest in what appears to be a small army of gargoyles come to life.

Harmony screams.

Happy Birthday, Alisa LeBeau! @ 04:10 pm

[info]temperence:

Alisa did not really tell a whole lot of people when her Birthday was, there was no need to, really. It was just a day she was born, no big deal. Though she did manage to tell Corey and Argo about it, since they were close friends. Nick, well... he knew about her Birthday since it was on her work file. But those were the only people who ever knew besides herself, and her twin brother.

Twenty one years. How the time flies. Ennie was away, missing their birthday this year. Well, physically at least. Alisa took every dime she earned from working with Nick and had his new Harley sent to him, with a big red bow on it and a Birthday card. It was the very least she could do for the brother who gave up everything to protect her. Now, she realized there would be no cupcake this year, no present, no Ennie.

A bit down, Alisa decided to throw her own party... even if she was the only guest. On the roof of the Motorcycle shop, she set up an old boom box she found and fixed up on a table. She tuned the radio on the boom box to a rock station that played her favorite bands
, and then walked over to the side of the roof, looking at all of New Orleans, in all it's glory.

"Well... it ain' like Corey's Birthday, but it's a Birthday, neh?" She spoke to herself. "Well, might as well do sumt'ing..." Alisa took out a spy glass she managed to make herself, and began watching all the cars pass by, using a notepad to mark down each kind of car or bike she say, and what color. "Red one.... blue one... anoder red one..."

Happy Birthday! Also Happy Earth Day! @ 07:10 am

[info]nextgen_parent:

Amara Aquila Drake smiled as they stepped out of a portal and into the Champions' headquarters in New Orleans. She carried gifts in her arms and wore a smile on her face. Corey was seventeen today and they had to celebrate his birthday. Irina had been nice enough to travel to Nova Roma and bring Bobby and Amara to New Orleans to see their son on his birthday. There was a brief stop in New York to get Cait and the four of them continued on to New Orleans.

"Cornelius Drake!" Amara called out.

A bar, vodka and girl talk. @ 08:06 pm

[info]perenawska:

Irina had felt like the walls of the Champions' HQ were closing in. While she got out and around the world on grocery shopping trip, she felt like she had been in one place too long. It was time to get out of the place and explore New Orleans a bit. Funny how she traveled all over the world on a regular basis and she had yet to really explore the city she now lived in.

Though she didn't feel like going alone. She wanted company and she knew who she could ask. She grabbed Lyta and the two of them hit the town.

They didn't get much farther than a neighborhood bar.

The two women were perched on bar stools. Irina had a shot glass and a bottle of Stoli in front of her.

Afternoon Ice Cream Outing @ 09:55 pm

[info]temperence:

If there was anything Alisa knew about Argo, it was that he was a loyal, trustworthy friend... and he had an incredible with chocolate ice cream. She needed someone to talk to, and he was there. With a charming smile, Alisa had managed to get Argo to come with her to an ice cream parlor in the French Quarter... one that did not have a bunch of kids running about to drive them nuts. She ordered him his favorite chocolate ice cream, and she got herself a cup of vanilla ice cream with sprinkles.

Alisa was still dressed in her work clothes, a pair of black army boots, blue, baggy cargo pants, and a black tank top with a bra underneath. She seemed to have a variation of the same outfit, so she would never get bored. It was a whole new thing to have a wardrobe of her own, and she planned on taking advantage of that! She just hoped Nick did not mind that she took an early break, but she needed someone to talk to... other than him.

"T'anks for comin' wit' me, Argo. Ah jus'... well... ah sorta needed a good friend to talk to." Alisa smiled, putting her spoon into her ice cream and then taking a bit of it. She never really had ice cream until she and Ennie lived on their own. It was a big treat for her, though she was not much of a sweet tooth. "Dis place 'as some o' de best ice cream in de quarter! T'ink you'll like it!"

A little afternoon music. @ 03:39 pm

[info]sandcastlegod:

Corey stepped off at the bus stop a short walk from the streetcar he'd take back to the Room. But he didn't go straight to the streetcar stop this time. One of the Jazz students at the creative arts center had been talking about the house band at Papa Gumbo's. The word 'virtuoso' had been used regarding the resident pianist, and the phrase 'timelessly classic but fluid style' as well.

As an artiste, Corey's interest was piqued. Fortunately it was one of the sort of places that usually only carded you if you tried to order a drink. So he just slipped in and sat in the late-afternoon crowd, which hardly counted as a crowd because the late afternoon was far too early.

A Hard Day's Work (Possibly NSFW) @ 05:19 pm

[info]temperence:

It had been over two months since Alisa had come to live with the Champions, and she had changed during that time. She had grown a bit more confident in herself, her stuttering was close to being gone forever, she had gained weight and now looked a bit healthier, and she even had a steady job with good income. Alisa also took Nick's advice and had been attending therapy sessions in the quarter once a week, o help her deal with her past life on the streets of New Orleans, and various other traumas. Alisa felt like a whole new person, almost as though she were reborn and given a better life.

But despite all of these good things, there were still things that urked her. Argo saw her as some best friend, no where near a woman. Ennie refused to see her after his powers went haywire, and she had not spoken to him since. But her biggest urk was that she was still not an official member of the "Champions". She just felt like some live in mechanic at times, but there was no room for complaint. Despite these issues, her life was a 110% better than what it had been.

Dressed in a white tank top which was over a black bra, a pair of army green cargo pants with a black leather belt holding them up, and a pair of black army boots, Alisa was hard at work repairing a neglected Motorcycle engine. She could not believe how people would treat their property like shit. Then again, she came from nothing so when she got anything, she cherished and took care of it. Oh how she wished some of these bike owners could walk a mile in her shoes.

Brushing some of her long auburn hair out of her eyes, she attached a part to her wrench that would allow her to remove stripped bolts. Someone obviously tried to do a home-made repair on this bike, and just did more damage. Part of her wanted to call up the owner and yell at him to buy a new engine. The other part of her knew that with her mutant abilities, she could easily fix the engine... which would make a pretty penny for her, Nick, and the shop.

Turning to her little AM/FM radio she found, Alisa turned it to a rock station she had come to love, blasting "Unwritten Law's" song "Save Me" into the shop as she went back to work on the engine.

Returning (open to Champions) @ 12:27 am

[info]lytaworthington:

Lyta drove her car back from New York. It'd taken her a couple days, but she was back in New Orleans, at the Champions' headquarters.

She'd been away from the team long enough. She'd recovered from being kidnapped and brainwashed (mostly, though she still had the occasional nightmare). Once she'd parked and turned off the engine, Lyta took her suitcase out of the trunk of her car and entered through the kitchen.

She'd unpack her things, but first, she'd have a class of water and make herself a sandwich for a late lunch. She'd drove without stopping as much as possible along the way, food was required before she did anything else.

Beach Magic (Open) @ 07:41 pm

[info]godlierthanthou:

Dawn, in the form of Asleif, stood on the beach, practicing spells.   She couldn't even begin to understand the theory involved here, or any of the ancient lore or any of that.  All she knew was that if she could focus on something happening clearly enough--within a very specific realm of effects--the staff and whatever innate magical power Asleif had possessed, could make it happen.

Power bolts were easy, just point and shoot.  But just about anything else, force fields, tractor beams, elemental command, teleporting, illusions, just about anything Asleif could do, that was harder.  Some of it she'd probably never get.

"<i>Shieldshieldshielshieldsheild,</i>" she chanted, concentrating.  Slowly, but surely, a mystical shield shimmered into existance in the air before her, before fading back into nothingness.  Too slow to form, too quick to fade to have offered any protection.

She stamped the handle of the staff on the ground once in a very specific, precise motion, and with a crack of thunder and light, reverted back to herself, the staff changing into an umbrella.

"I am never going to be able to do this," she said to herself.  "I'm no goddess. I'm not a super-hero.  I don't know what I'm doing here."

At least the nightmares had stopped, since she'd been able to transform back and forth.

Unexpected Visitor @ 02:43 pm

[info]temperence:

Alisa was lucky enough that Nick gave her the key to the Champions headquarters, and permission to sleep in his room. She really did not want to go back home when she felt like she hurt Ennie so bad, and REALLY did not want to try and break into the place. Alisa had thrown her wet clothes into a corner of Nick's bedroom, and slept in one of his shirts, that he left in his closet.

It was odd for her to sleep in a stranger's room, and without someone at her side. But that did not seem to matter, Nick had a nice, warm bed... more comfortable than the one she shared with Ennie back "home". For the first time in a long time, Alisa actually slept well.. with no nightmares, and actually being comfortable. Perhaps she was just too exhausted from the day's events to have a nightmare. For the whole night, and some of the morning... she was at peace.

She's A Little Runaway... @ 10:50 pm

[info]temperence:

It did not take Alisa long to get back to the Workshop. The bus was not crowded, which allowed her to travel faster than usual. Non one seemed to car she looked like she took a jump in a river. The bus was always like that, going by a "Don't ask, don't tell" kind of policy. She dragged her backpack towards the workshop, which she left a couple of hours earlier.

"Guess ah can stay here..." She muttered to herself, using her key to unlock the workshop, then walk inside. She closed the door behind her making sure it was locked securely. "Non like Nick gonna know... 'ell, probably can do more work until ah pass out..."
