Giving Thanks (Nov 26)
“We need to be more grateful. I think there is no true character without gratitude. It is one of the marks of a real strong character to have a feeling of thanksgiving and gratitude for blessings. We need more of that spirit in our homes, in our daily associations, in the church, everywhere. It doesn't cost anything, and it is so easy to cultivate.” - Ezra Taft Benson

In America today is a day for being thankful for the things in people's lives. Today was a day to celebrate family, friends, prosperity and health with food, family and friends. It is a time to reflect on what is important us and to recognize the gratitude we hold for having those things in our lives.

"This," Moira said, looking at the television. "Isna football."

"It's not," Cait agreed. She had baked pies and bread yesterday. Today someone else could do the cooking. Baking was her strong suit, not cooking.

"It is so football. American football." Misha shook his head in exasperation.

"Because Americans can't come up with anything original." Cait was technically an American as well as a Nova Roman, but at heart she was Nova Roman.

"It's not hokey," David bemoans. Then he gets a wicked gleam in his eyes.

"Hey Cait. When it's cold enough do you think maybe you could make a rink? Or is that too much?" He wants to get a game of jokey going soon.

"I can freeze part of the lake anytime you want or make a rink next to it just as easily. I'm waiting for it to snow. I am so kicking all of your asses in the annual snowball fight this year."
