It was very obvious that Lucius was working later and later and more hours a week than he normally had. Evan understood that Lucius had an important job and that he was also checking in on Merlin a bit and taking him groceries. Evan was thankful for this, of course, but he missed his husband. He was spending all his time alone in a flat because Rowan had decided he'd be staying with his mother. And Evan didn't have children of his own.

He was sitting alone and sulking to himself, reading a magazine he wasn't actually interested in when Luciius came in. Evan was unsure if he should even try to touch him. The last few times he'd tried to be intimate, the other man had told him he was tired and immediately went to bed. Evan ran his eyes over him, then looked back down at his magazine, feeling like bursting.

Lucius was tired, but only because he'd taken Merlin out to lunch and then they'd gone to Merlin's flat and fucked everywhere. Every time he came home and saw Evan, he felt guilty. He knew it was a horrible idea and it needed to stop. So did Merlin. They both had other people in their lives. People they loved. So far that hadn't been enough to stop them once they got their hands on each other.

He shrugged his jacket off and undid his tie, looking back at Evan with his magazine in bed. "Anything interesting?" Lucius asked, smiling as he stripped his clothes off and pulled on a pair of pajama bottoms before getting into bed with Evan. "God, I'm exhausted."

Evan closed his eyes briefly and shook his head. "Of course you're exhausted. You're gone all day and don't come home some nights. I don't know when you're sleeping." He told him a bit bitterly. He closed the magazine.

"What did I do?" Evan asked him, looking him over critically, almost pouting. "What have I done to make you do distant with me? I know I'm getting older and I'm not as attractive, but I've started working out again. Am I becoming unattractive? You haven't touched me in weeks."

	Evan was not stupid. Lucius had not answered his question. And suddenly, he was sick to his stomach. He felt like throwing up. Lucius had cheated on him again. Again. 	Lucius didn't want to answer. He stared at Evan for a long moment, feeling worse than he'd thought possible. Why had he ever thought this was a good idea? He closed his eyes for a moment. 	Evan shook his head at that. "Just shut up. I'm leaving." He told him, putting a few more things into a bag before he slung it over his shoulder. He didn't want to have this argument anymore. It was over. He looked back at Lucius. "After today, I'm not sure I could say you've ever loved or cared more about someone else as much as you love and care about yourself." 	Merlin was by himself. Draco was not staying over and he hadn't heard from him all day. He was glancing at his phone every so often, but nothing. He ran a hand through his hair and looked up at the door when there was a knock. Maybe it was Draco. When he opened the door and saw Lucius, he smiled. "Hey. What are you doing here?" 	Merlin didn't know what to do. He'd never seen Lucius cry before. He was having a little difficulty because he didn't feel bad about what they'd done. He did feel bad about Lucius, though. 	Merlin liked that Lucius had taken him for lunch. He nodded. "I liked going out to lunch with you as well. It was nice." He told him. "Even if you wouldn't let me pay."
