this will forever be an impossible dream and i know it but sometimes i wish we had an anon journal that somehow wasn't anon, where we all had to stay logged in and own the shit we say. we'd have at least 98% less butthurt

at the risk of further stirring the pot, anons who are worried the awards being ooc will mean unpopular writers not getting noticed...i know, i'm going to take this opportunity to go through and read some narratives from writers i may have missed and check out the journals of some of the characters i'm less familiar with so that i nominate people who aren't in my current scope. i think if i do that and those of us who share that concern will also do this, then people not getting noticed because of "popularity" will be a non-issue.

"you play a 'popular' character, your opinion on this whole matter is irrelevant" blah blah blah but i like the fact that we're doing awards. i think it's genuinely ridiculous and, honestly, childish that other games can do all these in-game activities but when we try to do one here, shit breaks down and people get defensive. i think the people getting their panties in a wad about the fact that we're doing awards/it's a ~hidden popularity contest/~omg only for validation/etc seriously need to relax and realize that not getting some pixels saying they have the sexiest/funniest character is, as difficult as this might be to believe, the end of the world. rp is for fun, we need to look at it like that instead of having a handful of us going into seizures at the first mention of us doing something as a group, because it really sucks the fun out for those of us who enjoy these activities.

~Click, I fucking love you. Even though you keep me up 'til all hours of the night and I get no sleep because of you. You have made my rp life. I had lost all faith in it, and I had no idea how much I missed it until I joined here on a whim. This was kind of a last-ditch effort, an "I'll give it one more shot" and if I don't like it, I'm done with rp forever. The interaction here is incredible, it's friendly, and you've all made writing this girl so much fun for me. That being said, I think we need to remember why we love this comm and why we do this. I'm excited for awards because I think it's fun. I mean this in the best way possible, because I honestly adore every single one of you, but I'm not sure why we're arguing about something that you can opt out of, guys. Especially when the people working on awards have tried so hard to make sure as many people as possible can be included.

the only time i care that my kid isn't popular~ is when i put a lot of effort into writing something and no one ever mentions it. it makes me feel like a shitty writer. dumb way to feel? absolutely. do i feel it anyway? yep.

i think we've all gotten used to the idea that someone has to praise us before we decide we/what we've written is good enough when that's clearly not the case. if our writing wasn't good enough we wouldn't have been accepted into the community anyway. it can be hard if you're as paranoid about your stuff as i am, but at the end of the day do we really need validation from someone behind a computer screen?

my ONLY gripe about awards is that i don't have the time to spend coming up with so many people to nominate and going through journals for categories i'm unsure about. my life is so insane rn and i hardly have time to update and comment. but i'll submit what i can of my ballot and i'm excited for a fun comm wide activity!
