Making Deputies
The group of lanterns were gathered around in a circle not far from the North Pole. Larfleeze was practically bouncing that they were so close to the Fat Man's workshop and Dex swore he would punch the orange lantern just to make him stand still for longer than two seconds. They had business to attend to first and then they could talk to the Fat Man about getting Larfleeze the promised presents.

They were going to create two rings of each color to help in the fight against the Black Lanterns. They would make more, but as it was the rings were only at half power. They would have to make do with what they had until they could find a way to get to Oa and see why the rings were depowered.

Dex looked around the circle. Each color had two more rings, red had three, added to the ranks. It was time to send them out. He nodded and the newly created rings were thrown up into the air. They immediately took off and started seeking out wearers.

	Cindy, her hands and lips covered in orange dust even under the orange of the ring's light, will ache to go like crazy, but won't until she's made sure as many of them are going as possible, and that someone's watching Steven, and... well, eventually, she'll make it there. Marcus wasn’t going to come and was going to continue to fight Legacy and any other Black Lanterns nearby. But it mentioned something about doing this would protect all those innocent people. Even through his rage it struck something deep to his core.

He still didn’t really want to be there. He changed up that basic uniform thing the ring came with to something more his style Black biker jacket with some red accents and the Red Lantern Logo on the back with a t-shirt that also had the red lantern logo on it, black jeans and combat boots. He didn’t keep his mask of helmet since he figured things would probably work out smoother if he didn’t and it wasn’t like anyone there would know who he was.

	Doctor Fate is the next to appear. He does so in a show of indigo and golden light. While he was still using the helmet to do much of what he was doing he had noted that the ring was influencing how his magic manifested itself. Not that he was going to complain. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Henry arrived next. His arms were crossed and he smirked at the sight of the gathered people. This wasn't serious, right? Oh, this was just too good. Damien walks over to Henry and smiles, but when he speaks, his voice is ice cold.

"It would behoove you to lower your voice, cousin. We need not expose ourselves in front of strangers. Keep quiet about whom you know and I shall not indulge my baser urges in regards to your transgressions against me." Damien warns.

He knows that Henry had something to do with having his mother killed. If he could get away with it, Damien would kill Henry right now, but there was more pressing business to attend right now.

"Oh? I'm not quite sure what you mean, cousin."

He said it tauntingly, of course. And then leaned forward and spoke in a whisper.

"Your mother's death truly was unfortunate, cousin. Perhaps the mistakes she made in life finally caught up with her? You may want to take notes."

Also said tauntingly, of course. And still, cryptic enough so that Damien could only assume things about what Henry said. Nothing could be proven, of course. It was all in the mind.

The guys in yellow were having an intense private conversation. Cindy did not like this. She didn't know them, and they were acting all conspiratorily around so many of her people.

"Hey! Yellow guys! Unless you got something to share with the rest of the class, how about shutting up so we can get stuff dealt with? Sorry to be rude, but you wouldn't like me when I'm Nice."

"Not all of us can go, though," Rose explained. "One of each color will need to go with Dex, myself, and the rest of the Lanterns to fight the Black Lanterns and find the Guardians. Seven of you will have to stay here and work together to fight the Black Lanterns until we return, which we will once we've got the rings at full power again.

I should also say that this is only temporary, your recruitment into the various Lantern Corps. Once we defeat the Black Lanterns, the rings will go away and you will be free to go about your lives as usual."

She looked at the group of deputies, to see who would go into space with her, Dex, and the rest of the Lanterns.

She pointed at Rex, Mark, Eli, Cindy, Nic, Marcus, and Henry. "The seven of you will come with us to Oa. The rest of you will remain here on Earth and work together to help fight the Black Lanterns."

	"That makes the most sense," Mark says after a moment of silence. "I can use my magic to make the trip easier, if that is needed Blue Lantern. I have no wish to put any strain on our rings. Zach, having finished his global circuit already, arrives. Surrounding him are a handful of constructs of himself, Mia, and John Zatara.

"Is anyone else feeling amazing, or is it just me?" He grins from ear to ear, duplicates of himself filtering into the assembled crowd, while Mia stays at his side.

Clearly, the rings are affecting some deputies more than others. He's also clearly showing some strain. A few of the constructs fizzle out, although notably not the one of Mia.

Rose looked at Mark and nodded. "That is correct," she said. "The rings are currently at half-power, so use them wisely. If you have other strengths, rely on them first, ring second. Once we've restored the rings to full power, then you will be able to use all of their abilities.

So if you could teleport us there magically, without using your ring, it would be a great help."

The outright disrespect from these people, including the son of his mother's despicable little project, was galling, but Damien held his tongue. He simply memorized their faces and their voices. One of these days, when this was all over and he was looking for something to do, perhaps he would simply have Reed put a bullet in their heads, or that of one of their family members.

And it would be especially entertaining because they wouldn't even know why it happened, or suspect that their disrespect today was the cause. Damien smiled at that, even as he stepped away from Henry.

"Do have a safe trip, Cousin Mine. I hope to see you return home in one piece." Damien says.

So that I may cut you into a thousand tiny ones. he finishes in his head.
