THINGS.
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]showtime)

TO EXPLAIN ..for anyone who noticed the weirdo reference. Not that I EXPECT reading. But in case anyone did and was WHAAAT? XD

me: What would Mordego be referred to as? THE BATFATHER?
Sass: HAHAHAHA
YES

So, now that's clarified.. I have a question! Would it be feasible for THE MOB ..or whatever we have here .. to have their own PRIVATE transport. Like their own carriage service. OOH. Could you have invisible transport (let's ignore the obvious dangers that would have for all the other road users.. okay maybe not. XD ) I had other questions, but they have been forgotten. And then I forgot to post this and went to watch late night TV (which here, tends to be US talk shows. YES, I WATCHED ELLEN.) Okay, bye.

EDIT: Okay, so clearly a bit weird last night. XD But I think the question I need to be asking.. is how does the whole carriage thing work. Do these carriages exist somewhere in time and space.. and are called kind of like taxis? But more immediate? Aaand.. if so.. would there be more private ones for, say, government use and such? (Okay, back to work. c.c)

Security?
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]showtime)

Hey,

I thought I'd post this question here to see everyone's thoughts. What sort of security do you think people would have on their houses, and the one I'm particularly interested in - the Salem Academy Dorms? XD (NOTHING SUSS.)

About the Wedding
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]headsortails)

Bethany forgot to put it on the invitations but I'm certain she sent out a secondary notification. The reception is an optional costume party. If you'd like to come dressed up in an All Hallow's Eve costume you're more than welcome. I'm imagining it'll be like most of our big party threads (with individual threads starting within the main the one). I'll post it and the wedding a week early so we can get some work done on it (mostly because I'm doing nano in November, as is Becky and I'm thinking our rp time will start to slow down again).

Err...law?
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]notvanillachai)

I hadn't said anything because I know Carol was having computer issues, but I'm wondering about whether this law is going to be added/posted as passed? It's been over three weeks.

Carol, I had a thought!
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]notvanillachai)

The verdad ocultada thing - it's just passed from mother to daughter, right? You don't need to be a Weaver or have Fortuna magic, obviously, if Isabella's got it, but can you have verdad ocultada if you do have Fortuna magic? I had a thought about protecting Chai's dreams and a better thought about who could do it, but I wanted to make sure first. Hit me up when you have a chance.

Future plot for the Blanket Plague
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]flickofthewrist)

I did not want to reveal the future plot for the Blanket Plague (so that everyone could get a nice surprise) but myself and Carol have decided against the initial thought. It is obvious that there are a lot of characters that were/ will be affected by the Blanket Plague, in general, so all of you deserve to know where this "plot device" is going. Although I would like to stress that my revealing this information will become player knowledge and not character knowledge.

As you may already know, Elliot is head of the B.P. case and is currently searching for the cause of the plague. Ironically enough, he himself is the cause of it. He and Emelie both, I should say.

The twins, Elliot and Emelie, were both born as fixities... fixity scions that is. Elliot, as a fixity, put his anti-magic abilities to good use by becoming a law enforcement official. In order to have any control over a mage abusing their magic, you obviously need to have someone that has the ability to counteract that magic. Unfortunately (and unknowingly) when Elliot casts an anti-magic spell against a mage it works just like any other anti-magic spell cast by a fixity... but with a devestating side-effect. The scion part of Elliot's anti-magic will then afterwords act as a virus (why it is referred to as a plague) slowly killing the mage's magic that it was used against. For example, if Elliot uses anti-magic to counteract a fire spell that mage's ability to produce fire spells will slowly deteriorate.

Even more unfortunate is that often Elliot's anti-magic is used even without him knowing. For example, let's say that someone within close proximity of Elliot is using a spell of some sort that might not be legal/ work correctly/ will produce an undesireable effect(s)/ etc. his anti-magic will counteract it and the mage will then experience the B.P. effects.

Also, a mage affected by the B.P. can unknowingly pass it on to other mages (thus why it is said to occur in pockets). For example, let's say the mage from before (the one effected by the B.P. on his fire spells) is within relative, close proximity to someone that is trying to conjure up a fire spell. The B.P., as said acts like a virus, will spread to that person and they in turn will then suffer the B.P. effects and can therefore then pass it on to someone else and them to someone else etc. Although, just as a side-note, if the B.P. has already claimed a magic ability entirely the B.P. will NOT spread to any other mage(s).

So, why do some mage's lose all of their magical abilities? Let me first just say that mage's losing all of their magical abilities is very, very rare. There are two ways for a mage to lose all of their magical abilities. First: Elliot, either willingly or unwillingly, simply casts anti-magic causing the mage to not be able to produce magic at all. To briefly explain why most of the mages that lose all of their magical abilities are criminals is because when Elliot tried to stop them from abusing their magic he had to cast numerous and stronger anti-magic spells against them and even had to resort to casting anti-magic spells on them preventing them to cast any magic at all (which is difficult to do, thus why he doesn't just do it in the first place). Second: The mage has caught so many forms of the B.P. that the plague has claimed all of their magic one at a time (i.e. because of the plague being able to spread from mage to mage). Both reasons, therefore, explain the rhyme and reason as to why different mages have had different (and thought to be random) reactions to the Blanket Plague.

So, where does Emelie fit into the big picture? Emelie is the one and only cure for the Blanket Plague. Emelie's scion magic, when within close proximity to an affected mage, will cause the decline of whatever magical ability effected to reverse or retreat. Although, it is important to know that she cannot reverse it if the the B.P. has claimed the magical ability(ies) completely (i.e. for her "cure" to work the mage still has to have some of that magic ability left).

Lastly: YES, ONLY MAGES ARE EFFECTED BY THE BLANKET PLAGUE. And just as a side-note if your character is half-mage the B.P. will only effect that person's mage abilities. For example, if your character is a mage/werewolf the B.P. will have no effect on the werewolf part of the character.

And just as a reminder, both Elliot and Emelie [currently] don't know that they cause/ un-cause the Blanket Plague which is why this information needs to remain strictly player knowledge only. Also, just for the sake of stating it: No, your mage cannot catch the B.P. by just touching Elliot (that is an AIDS joke waiting to happen).

*EDIT: The Blanket Plague does in fact effect other fixities. Though this is very, very rare and there has probably been very few cases (if any at all) which is due to the fact that there isn't many fixities in general.

Also, the offspring of two who have lost all magical abilities due to the Blanket Plague will have NO magic abilities. This is obviously because of magic being inherited. This has not been brought to the attention of the public yet because there has yet to be a child of two people that have lost their magic due to the B.P. Although it will be played upon very, very soon.

Please feel free to reply with any questions/ suggestions/ future plot ideas generated by this post to this post.

Hey Gang
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]gravesmod)

Just in response to a few things that have happened since yesterday (which considering the amount of playing and new information is A LOT).

There has been A LOT of new information added to the game. I've been keeping up as much as humanly possible for one mod while attempting not to be god-modding (I said it so that you didn't have to). Here's the deal; I don't expect you guys and girls to read EVERYTHING or be able to quote things back to me, but if you have a story idea and think that it may have been addressed in the mod journal at some point, please look it over, or ask me (since I know where to find it).

I've been adding player ideas as well, so I don't want you guys to think I'm stealth bombing you in the night with things I've been coming up with.

Some ideas I have, and some you have (I'm looking at you Joey) haven't been introduced or played out yet. Some of it was meant to be a surprise. Some of it was believed that no one else would be playing a similar plot.

This has caused some frustration and I want to just apologize. RP isn't meant to be stressful. We're here to play and have fun.

I am MORE THAN WILLING to work around ideas to make them work. Like Tim Gunn says. We have creative problems solvers among our players who are more than capable of figuring out how to get our mismatched puzzle pieces to fit together.

Everybody take a deep breath. We'll get through this plot explosion.

Err...I think there's been a miscommunication
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]notvanillachai)

Ok. I think I need to clarify something.

I think people are misunderstanding my law here. Nowhere is Chai saying Weavers can't weave. All he's saying is that they should get permission first. I apologize if this is unclear. Normally I wouldn't say anything about it till it passed or failed but several people seem to thing he's trying to ban weaving. All he's saying is don't go into someone head univited. Should I have worded this better maybe? Because I don't want people voting no because they think he's about to outlaw weaving.

I understand Weavers have to weave to meet life matches. But can't they just get permission to get in someone's head before they do it?

EDIT: While speaking with Sass, we found what might be the crux of the problem. We need clarification on how Weave magic works. She thought dreams were kind of made and just sent out. I thought they were woven with specific people in mind, ie, the difference between say Ohana sending a dream that happens to land in the mind of the king, as opposed Ohana directly weaving for Chai.

Carol, I think we need to know how it works, because if it's the first, I'd have not written the law this way at all. If its the latter, then the law still stands because if you need to seek out a specific person, then it should take no effort to just say hey can I weave for you? Yes? Cool!

I apologize if I've misunderstood.

SON OF THE EDIT: We kept talking and came up with this:

Sass: I saw weaving as like walking down the street, knitting up some dreams. And some dreams you tossed over your shoulder, and they'd land on some random person and they'd have that dreams. Others would land on the ground and get moved around, blown across the street until they eventually landed on someone. And then there were the special dreams you were knitting for a particular person, and you'd walk down the street but specifically stop at their door, open that door and toss the dream in.
Sass: And that poking about for secrets was less like tossing the dream through the door and more like going THROUGH the door and looking through all their stuff.
Me: ...Ok I totally get that.
Sass: Kind of like a burglar.
voices calling: In which case I'd rephrase it so the the specific dreams were the ones that needed permission. Any dream woven that gets you in someone's head? you need permission for.

Does that make more sense?

THE EDIT RETURNS: It has been brought to my attention there are ways to prevent Weavers from getting into your dreams. Um, yeah I didn't know this? I was never informed, and if I had been, I might not have had to have Chai propose this law.

LOL Carol, you're going to have to answer a LOT of questions when you get on, between this post and my last one.

EDIT FOUR: IN SPACE!: So some thing have been explained and I think I'm going to delete the proposed law, because if I [and Chai] had known this was how weaving worked, the law would never have been proposed.
