Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

"Well, to be completely fair...we were in close proximity with the first two times and...you were pretending to be my girl for my safety. Ah had to ask so that we both know this is a real date. Now, since we'll be on your home turf, Ah can strong arm the locals into respectin' you and givin' us our space...though New York is a far cry from Bon Temps." Jason says, considering a few things he'll need for their date, besides reservations to a restaurant.

"Ah may need to bring a weapon or two to ensure Ah am prepared to defend your honor when the first challenge appears." Jason says.

And Ah'll even make a couple for you as well. Then you'll have a selection to go with your dress and earrings, too." Jason says, this idea suddenly taking hold in his mind. Why hadn't he thought of this before? There might be a whole market for this sort of thing, waiting to be tapped!

"You, by the way, are a genius." Jason smiles brightly at Sammy.

Fascinated, Sammy watched the play of thoughts across his face as he worked through his train of thought at lightning speed. He really came alive when he was thinking and talking about something he was passionately interested in.

Then the focus landed on her. "Thank you. I always suspected, but you are the first to realize it. What genius thing did I do this time?"

"You are partially responsible for the phenomenon that will be called 'Date Night Artillery'." Jason says.

"Weapons that can be kept on one's person for all situations, especially during dates and such. Why worry about being unprepared if someone tries to mug you during your date when you can be prepared for the attempt?" he asks rhetorically his eyes lighting up.

"Besides, who knows how enamored one's date might be when they know that you went the extra mile to make sure their honor would not be besmirched during a time of bonding." Jason says. The money portion of this whole thing didn't factor into this decision one bit.

The idea of Sammy asking him which gun she should put in her thigh holster, however...

Note to self: If Fury does not have a thigh-holster, get her one asap.

"Hm. But there has to be an appeal to the millions of couples that are in committed relationships who want to be stylish in addition to being protected." Jason says. He thinks about that as he chews on his food.

"It should also be accessible to the women who like to date, but can't because of various life issues. You would make a great spokeswoman for the company if you, you know, were into that sort of thing." Jason tells her.

"Ah suppose you'll just have to settle for being my official Product and Quality Control Manager. Bonuses include access to all weapons made, extra clips, and aesthetic approvals." Jason says.

"Aside from Gran, and occasionally Jess, Ah don't really see many people in the morning, either. Ah've only started eatin' breakfast again in the last few months, in the cafeteria. Never really took the time for it before now." Jason tells her, reaching out to lay one of his hands atop hers.

"Bein' able to call on you is somethin' Ah look forward to, Sam. Ah enjoy your company." he says.

"It's very gentlemanly of you." It didn't sound old fashioned, though she supposed Alice might giggle about it. To Sammy, it sounded like Jason was putting thought and care into the idea of a date and it make her feel special. She hoped she was worth the effort.

"However, there will be nothing ladylike about your first training session with me," she said with a smirk. "I hope you like to jog."

"The 'we sucked' one was held four am one Sunday morning when Cap turned on the alarm and we all ended up fighting each other because of the confusion."

She dried her dishes and returned them to their proper places. "The psychologically worst one. Cap had a phase where he was developing personal training sessions for us to help get us over whatever hurdle he thought we were experiencing, or give us the push we needed to next level. I had to fight an LMD of my father and I wasn't allowed to cheat with a temporal pause."

Jason nods at both of these, agreeing that they do fall into the realm of sucking pretty badly.

"I see the merits in helping everyone get over their personal hurdles but...an LMD of your father seems a bit...extreme. How did you fare in that trial?" he asks. Sammy doesn't seem like someone who lets an obstacle stop her too long, but he could see the psychological issues attached with facing a family member.

Jason would never want to face off against Jake or his grandfather like that, so he can't imagine what Sam went through in her own crucible.
