Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

	The intimacy of it all reminded her of her parents dancing on the terrace in the moonlight. She loved watching them. As long as they were together, all was right in her world. Within seconds, the sounds of 3 Doors Down and "Your Arms Feel Like Home" begins to filter through the speakers. "Not exactly a waltz, but something slow to start with." 	"Oh, I'm not lookin' to find it, Sammy." Jason says as his other hand goes to small of her back. They begin swaying to the music, Jason leading her along as they dance. He doesn't say anything, just silently enjoys the scent of her hair as they move together. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Letting Jason lead was surprisingly easy. It had been a joke, but she was too impatient at times and had been known to take the lead during dance lessons.

All it took to make her follow was someone who knew what they were doing. Jason certainly did. She was more focused on the warmth at her back and his hand holding hers than she was on her feet.

"What are you looking to find?" she finally asked.

Jason lets that question hang in the air between them as they dance, while he figures out the best way to answer. What does he want from her? The easiest answer would be someone to spend time with. He told her before that sex wasn't foremost on his mind, mostly because has no experience with such.

He does, however, want more than she can give him now, and he has to wonder if she will ever see another person in the way she saw Qamar. She found something worth holding onto in him and now he was gone. She carried that with her. Perhaps he would always be between her and anyone she met from that day on.

A lesser man would call it a loss and move on. Perhaps even a wiser one. Jason's been called intelligent, but never wise.

"In a word...you." he says.

	She let the music play for bit longer, mulling the answer over in her head. She had issues, there was no doubt about it. She was working through them. No one could expect her to be done with them overnight. It could get worse before it got better. "I always did like plain speaking," she said. "I can work with that answer." She couldn't hear the song without thinking of his tattoo and how odd it was they were both obsessed over the concept of time. That she had a tattoo that celebrated the concept of time left free while his wanted to contain and hold it was another odd connection to think about.

She nestled her face against his neck and enjoyed the scent of his skin and the feel of his arms. And because she could, she slipped them into a temporal pause where everything - music, air, the creaks of the old house - were gone and it was just them.

Jason holds her, once again tracing her spine with this fingertips as the temporal pause shuts away the world around them. The rest of the world will go on around them, but for this moment, they've shut it away and there's no other place he'd rather be.

"And this is where I find you. Not in each beat of music or each breath, but the space between, where never and forever meet." Jason says. To his mind, this is exactly where their respective views on time coincide.

"Jason? Just so you know, the next time you're in Medical I'll make sure your nurses keep watch for corn weevils, and forget to enforce the after hours visitation rule."

She winked and ran upstairs to get her gun from under the pillow. She felt completely naked with it. The smile on her face wouldn't stop. It might not last, but right now she felt light and hopeful, as if she'd lost a little more of the burden she carried.

On the porch, she couldn't help looking around to see if Legion was lurking in the trees or around the corner of the house.

He returns to his room for his handgun, gets it and then heads to the porch. He knows he won't find Legion outside, since the droid is down in the basement for a "rest" period.

When he sees her on the porch, he walks up and wraps his arms around her waist for a change, giving her a small hug before letting go.

"Well, if you come by after-hours, I'll do my best to keep you from gettin' bored." he grins, then goes to the car.

"You'd have the premium Tech Support plan. You can get assistance anytime of day or night, as well as housecalls. Oh, and if your laptop stops working, we'll make you a brand-new one from scratch, and bring it right to you." Jason says.

"Oh, and while you wait for it to install all that new stuff to get it operational, the Tech guy will make sure /you/ are in good condition, too." he grins.
