Labor Day - Xaviers (X-Men and X-Force)
The air was warm and the sun was bright making it a perfect day for a cookout to celebrate Labor Day. Classes would start on the 7th (for those going to college they started a week ago) and it was the last chance to kick back and cut loose before hitting the books.

At Xavier's Institute For Higher Learning tables had been placed out around the pool and the large grill fired up. Burgers, hot dogs, sausage, ribs, corn on the cob, pasta salad, salad and fruit salad were just some of the food available to eat. Soda, water, fruit juice and other beverages were on ice.

It was a day of rest and relaxations for those who put their lives on the line for others.

Lucas was up at dawn doing his normal rituals of greeting the sun, but also bidding the Summer farewell and welcoming the harvest season. After that, he set himself to making preparations for the day, helping set up for the cooking, but also doing some of his own. He's built his own smoker from clays, and wrapped corn and fish in more clay, burying it under his firepit to cook under the coals he's cooking the meats over. And, of course, he's made sure to do some baking as well - sugar cookies for most of the classes, and oat cakes with extra honey for the Hrimharisdottirs.

Gabriel wasn't accustomed to this particular holiday, but he joined in on the festivities anyway. He had a baby monitor in Connor's room and one clipped to his belt. That way, while he was grilling, he could know when Connor got to waking up. Otherwise, Gabriel was free to stretch his wings and work at the grill.

	Leave it to the Hrimharisdottirs not to follow the Midgard calendar properly; Moira and been helping Danielle study a lot lately. A lot. 	Izzy made her way through the buffet line and piled her plate high with food. A hot dog, a couple of ears of corn on the cob, and some pasta salad. 	Anastasia helped with the cooking where she could, fixing a salad here and there, making sure that a cake had enough frosting. She'd make sure that she wasn't needed before she got to eat herself. (Reply to this)

	Cookouts were awesome. Even though it was the last day before they went back to school (blah!), Ellie had a grin a mile wide on her face. She nibbled on a sugar cookie as she walked around the yard. She had invited Daniel in case he wanted to stop over. (Reply to this)(Thread)

	Daniel jumped at the invitation. The F4 were mostly just enjoying the day off, and cookouts were awesome in general - and Ellie even moreso. He makes his introductions to get through security, then goes looking for Ellie. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Cait of course helped in the kitchen with the prep work. She didn't mind since she had always helped her mother. Once the prep work was done, she let someone else do the grilling. She grabbed a plate of food and a drink and went to grab a seat (Reply to this)

	Joey waits for Rose at their spot, propping his feet across her chair so no one would take it. He could practically taste that hot dog right now, his sense of smell was so strong. 	Rachel had probably spent a good two hours in front of the mirror figuring out what to where. Between David and Starbridge (and Torn Ear? She wasn't sure) and... well, mostly them, she had to look good. But not so good Dad sent her back inside with threats to make her go live in Alaska with her great grandparents. But she was outside. 	Sneaking up behind Lyta was never a Good Idea. First, she'd sense him, and second, her wings had a habit of twitching right into his face. But he did move up behind her and slide his arms around her waist to nuzzle her neck. "Now if I basted you in barbecue sauce, it would really turn into a holiday feast..." he said against her ear.
