Hartley, Texas
The small town of Hartley, Texas was not much more than a wide spot in the road that was situated about an hour northwest of Amarillo. The town was small and the surrounding area consisted of mostly ranches and farms and nothing special ever happened in Hartely.

Until a meteorite burned across the west Texas night sky and landed just outside the town on property belonging to one Martin Reynolds. Martin promptly hauled the meteor into town in his pickup. The townspeople all gathered around to see the hunk of space debris that had crashed to Earth.

The strange space rock was put in the center of town and over the next few days it was the center of the talk of the town and the focus of their attention.

	Kal tried to command the altered townspeople to sleep, but her mental commands had little effect. This was going to take more direct action. She TK'd a wrought iron lamppost out of the ground and wrapped it around one of the altered townspeople. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Hawkeye fired some nets, only to have them ripped apart by the locals they landed on. Okay fine, maybe sleeping-gas arrowheads. "Hey, genius types," Frances started on the comms, looking around for the next biggie. "Any chance this is exposure-based? The one Mac punched flew back and crashed into a parked car. There was a good sized dent in the car. The thing didn't move for a few moments and then started to get up.

Buck's gas grenade landed near one. The thing started to cough when the gas started to pour out. The thing charged toward Buck.

The one Toni trapped with the fence started to struggle to get out of it.

The one that had a lamppost wrapped around it struggled to get it off. There was the sound of creaking metal and the lamppost started to bend outward.

Hawkeye's sleeping-gas arrowheads landed near two of the things. They started to cough and were slowing down.

	Buck holds his ground as long as he can, letting it charge, reading its momentum, then shifts his weight, reaching for the leading wrist and trying to launch it into an aikido throw, using its strength and momentum to toss it at one of the ones Hawkeye is fighting. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	He shot a blast over at one letting it slam on a wall then shooting another. "Just give the word! I can probably scry for it!" 	"Thanks for the assist," Hawkeye tossed out as one of the two dazed went down from the tossed weight of another. Sleeping gas worked, she'd have to play that card. She scrambled onto a SUV to get more eye to eye with the locals and fired sticky heads with the gas packages, pegging a few more right in the forehead so they got a good lungful of the gas. One was wrapped up in the foam which quickly hardened to cement. It struggled to get free.

The one Buck tossed smashed into another one and the two went crashing into a car.

Tony's opponent struggled to get free of the fencing.

Mac sent one stumbling backward into another. The two fell to the ground but were quickly getting back up.

One that Orlen hit with a blast of magical energy fell to the ground.

Kal's was struggling to get out of the impromptu restraints but wasn't have any success.

The gas went off and the ones near it started coughing and backed up.

	"That's what teammates are for." Buck responds to the thanks, tossing a flare grenade to try and blind a couple to help set them up for others. "If this got the whole town, if we don't find a way to reverse this, could be a very long fight. Orlen, Kal, any better luck on determining how likely we are to get infected? 	Huh... tripped a bunch of them and... Buck gets an idea. "Frances, how much cabling do you have, and is it conductive? Toni, depending on her answer, I think I have a plan." He shot another small voltage at one, just enough to knock it out but not kill it. "Not sure how this infection works I'll need a sample and time to do some chants if you guys can buy me the time!"

hit with a stop sighn on his back that caused him to fall. He shot the creature and floated up to a roof to gather himself. "As for for us I put a spell around all of us that will keep us from getting infected we got about another four maybe five hours tops before I have to redo the spell." He held his head trying to shake that dizzy throbbing feeling.

The monsters are temporarily blinded and it gave the Avengers a much needed opening.

Mac knocked more to the ground and the ones Frances tied up all fell as well. The one with the fence around him dropped to the ground and was suffering from spasms. The one Nicolai hit with the electrified bola fell to the ground and was suffering from spasms. The one Orlen hit fell to the ground and was knocked out.

"Uh," Frances pawed at her quiver and squinted to eyeball the length left. "Twenty-five yards give or take after that, and yeah, carbon nano-fibers can be decently conductive. Whatcha need, Buckminister?" Orlen had retreated to a rooftop after, but she held out going for higher ground to cover for Buck's plan. "Mr. Wizard just got pinged hard, there's some fight in these guys still."

"All the cabling, fences, all of that is just slowdown measures... Orlen and Kal, back off much as you can and do what you're doing.

Everyone else, get under cover while they're blinded. I'm going to draw some attention and try and group them up.

Soon as I do, use what's on the field - fences, wiring, and Hawkeye's cable arrows to just get as many as you can in contact with something conductive - Toni - when they're all tangled up, light the whole thing up."

He trusts the others to get into hiding, then darts out into the field, throwing down tear gas to make sure they're extra upset, and make sure they're not seeing entirely clearly - give him some edge in hand to hand, anyway.
