Well, that'd been a fun little jaunt uptown. Here was hoping it would put some ideas in the girl's head that his new buddy could make use of. Or not. Maybe it wasn't that kind of story. And of course, the Thinker hadn't been able to take down Alpha Flight. No harm, no harm. All just interlude. Just softening up.
But waltzing up to a base in the middle of nowhere, of course, isn't Zeb's style. Too vulnerable, not enough leverage. So he's in town, cozy in a restaurant he's properly taken over, having analyzed a few choice haunts, keeping an eye out for any of Kara's girl's little friends.

He dialed the phone.

Mel hugs Alex tightly, then watches as her Grandfather begins threatening Jordan...

And she thinks. It's a little hard, because this is the voice quoted by her nightmares talking. But she thinks. She's not much of a strategist, but some things are clear, and there's also biology to consider. She is not her grandmother.

"I have to get past him," she tells Alex, her feet already sinking into the ground.

	Jordan doesn't answer. The up side to this was they came prepared, so he got a deep breath before he jumped. And the correct answer is quite a while - as long as he doesn't do stupid things like witty repartee. Trying to play to Killgrave's cheesy supervillain schtick to buy time, Jordan heads right for him, clearly holding his breath. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Mason locks his jaw, breathing steadily, using his powers to purify the air around himself and his teammates whenever possible. Gases are trickier than solids, but this close to one another, he's relatively sure he can manage a safe zone. What he wants to do is turn the ground underneath this psycho into hot tar. 	Jordan locks eyes with Killgrave, taking a step forward. Then his gaze shifts to the hostage. Yeah, this is a definite problem. Another step forward, til definite statements or threats are made, trying to keep the psycho distracted while hoping the team stays back and figures out a plan while he's playing distraction in the line of fire. "Now this is a beautiful little Canadian Standoff," he says. "Which would be the kind where there's hardly anything you can do. I could start getting rid of hostages, but I'm probably going to need the canon fodder dealing with this whole Strong Silent Type thing. Do me a favor and give stabbing Diamant here a shot," he adds offhandedly to the hostages. He calls another one direct toward Alex.

	Mel can hear that he's going after Alex, but she steels herself against panic as she suffuses into the ground under the restaurant.... and into its walls. And into its windows, doors, and ventilation systems. Whispers on the wind encourage Mason to keep purifying air as she slowly, carefully, opens up everything and gets it circulating. This is where Jordan gets an idea. He's relying on pheromones to keep control, and Jordan is holding his breath anyway - but they're going to have to time this perfectly.

Quietly as he can into coms,

"Mason, hostages on me... air to knockout gas. Alex - hippo. Hold breath. Trap hostages inside." he mutters as best he can while weathering the first round of attacks, hoping that made sense - they need to cut him off from the meat shields - and they need to do it that much faster, for him having wasted breath on talking.

	Mason keeps his own mouth shut as well and just complies immediately. Methoxyflurane, in as high a concentration as he feels safe with, forms a line away from him, before expanding into a larger 'cloud' around the hostages and his teammates as instructed. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
