LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]thedavies)

Who: Gemma Davies and OPEN!
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: Burnham City
What: Gemma takes a walk to the park
Bingo: Clouds

Gemma didn't remember much about her father being well since he was ill for so long and she was young when he passed. What she did remember from their minimal time together was clouds. Fluffy, white clouds floating above them as they laid in the grass together at the park and tried to identify what shapes or animals they were. She missed him and she missed London.

(Thread) Gruntled, a late Sunday morning
Disgruntled was a new word Nadja had learned. She knew that dis meant 'opposite of', but she couldn't seem to find gruntle anywhere on its own. Which was most disgruntling.

The term had come into her vocabulary quite by accident, as she was trying to describe a particular feeling to her roommate. Temperance suggested word after word, and Nadja liked the sound of 'disgruntled' so she looked it up. And it fit pretty well. She was feeling disgruntled.

She thought she had made herself quite clear at the party; that she was very interested in Leif. But after they'd gotten silly drunk and he'd walked her home (how sweet, she'd thought, and been touched by the gesture) only to leave her at the door with a 'goodbye'. A goodbye! He didn't try to kiss her or anything. Which was strange in and of itself, even when she made it perfectly clear she had no interest whatsoever in a boy he would often try and make a move on her anyway. And here she was interested... and nothing! This was disgruntlement.

Still, Leif was her first friend in America, and she wasn't going to let him dodge her company simply because she liked him and he only liked her. She skipped down the stairs to the ninth floor, and knocked on his door.

Domino Effect
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]fleshandbone)

Who: Ioana and Penelope
Where: Pleasantview Mental Health Facility
When: Late in the night, Saturday/Sunday
Bingo: Organized chaos

Timing meant everything. A chain reaction of particular events would lead to a desired result that meant everything... to her. Each domino was being set up and Ioana made sure, personally, that this next task was done right and ran as smooth as possible.

It was the dead of night, the sleepy town of Pleasantview dreaming away, when Ioana arrived at the Pleasantview asylum. After making a mess out of the night guard's neck, almost pulling out his esophagus, getting into the hospital was a cake walk.

The hallways were quiet, dimly lit, and should've been filled with the sound of her clicking heels but instead, due to her soulless existence, she didn't make a peep. Licking at her lips, fresh blood slowly drying onto her chin and down her neck, Ioana sniffed the silence in search of what who she was looking for. Her scent tickled up Ioana's nose and itched it's way into the back of her throat, "bingo," she whispered.

Ioana was proud of herself at how quick she was able to find her. "Solitary confinement," she said to herself, "didn't realize our little Dallas girl was that wild." Fumbling through the keys she snagged from the security guard, Ioana found the correct one and happily unlocked the cell door.

After pulling the door open, Ioana found the patient she had searched for stirring awake. A smirk slowly crept across her face and, before vanishing back into the quiet of night, Ioana spoke to her. "Rise and shine; freedom is yours... Penny."

All of her little secrets (and some of his)
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]inthefreakdom)

Who: Gray Stone, Evangeline Rothschild
When: Saturday, July 18th
Where: Pleasantview, Gray's house
What: A typical Saturday morning conversation takes an unexpected turn
Bingo: Favorite theorist/philosopher

Gray knew things about Evangeline that even Harper Grace didn't know. He knew her guilty pleasure was watching All My Children while eating Ben & Jerry's straight from the carton. She only ever got to watch it on her Friday's off; she said it was best that way, the week's storylines were all exposed on Friday and they had the best cliffhangers.

He knew that Angel washed her pantyhose in the sink and hung them over the shower rod to dry if she had an important meeting the next day. Otherwise she'd just toss them in a special bag and wash them with the normal laundry. He insisted that it didn't take that long to wash in the bag if she knew the night before, but Angel always explained that with her luck they'd all run in the washer and she'd be hosiery-less.

One of Gray's favorite little secrets about Angel was her favorite philosopher. )

Life's a Bitch
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]inthefreakdom)

Who: Jane Carter, Jack Swann
When: Saturday, July 18th
Where: Pleasantview, Jack's basement apartment
What: Jane comes home and finds Jack in his worst depression yet
Bingo: Life's a Bitch

Jane had finally come home for the summer. She spent the last month in her dorm room, working the terrible job she had in the city. It was probably about time she put in a little time in Pleasantview anyway. She'd spend the rest of the summer hanging around Jack, maybe volunteering some of her time in the kitchen at PMHF.

What she didn't know was that her best friend Jack had been neglecting work and himself. He hadn't left his mother's basement in three days, had barely been able to drag himself to work for two weeks now and had pretty much given up these past few days. By the time she arrived at Jack's bedroom door she had determined that he was in the same pajamas he'd been in three days prior and had been eating cereal by the fistful out of a box, jammed on the couch and watching infomercials all night long until he passed out.

She could practically smell him from the other side of the door, the hum of the tv was clearly audible. )

Dear Harper,

I feel, like maybe for the first time in my life, like I'm getting my shit together. I'm not terrified by the night so much anymore, not when Gray is holding me. PMHF has grown on me and there are some patients there that I can really help. The only thing that's missing is my old pal Harper. I feel like I never get to see you anymore, what with work and blah, blah, blah.

I wonder if this is what it feels like to grow old. Or maybe just finally accept life as it unfolds.

Miss you like crazy,

XOXO,

Angel

PS- Tell Jon I miss him too!

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]inthefreakdom)

Dear Curtis,

I miss you so much at times it hurts. I was willing to give up everything for you. I very nearly did give up everything for you. I don't understand why you left without a word, but then I don't really believe that you'd do that to me.

Jasper, maybe. I opened my heart to trust again and it turns out he was just passing time. But you, you were different Curtis. You had my heart and you gave me yours.

I still feel it, sometimes late at night, lying in bed with some stranger who's paid me to make them feel whole again. I can feel your arms around me, your heart beating so close to my chest that I wake up with tears on my skin. I don't think you would do this to me and I fear that something horrible happened.

Just like your brother David who disappeared to never return. I'm so terrified that you'll never come back to me. I can't even send this; I wouldn't know where. I just need you to know that there's a hole in my life where you used to fit and no one else will be able to fill it.

Yours, if you ever return,

Janeane

(Log) They got some pretty bad roaches.
Who: Nadja and her father (telephone)
When: Early morning, the Monday after meeting Temperance
Where: Student lounge in DuJean Hall, Heaton University
What: Daddy's princess is in another castle.
Bingo: Hyperbole

"Daddy! How is everything? Is Sasha back from duty yet?" Nadja curled up on one of the plush couches in the student lounge at the end of the residence hall, and tried to keep her excitement to a minimum. It had been weeks since she'd heard her father's voice, but seeing as it was early morning in Burnham and her fellow students were not all awake, she did not want to make too much noise.

They'll cut you so bad... you'll wish they no cut you so bad. )

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]all_these_fools)

Who: Open to Anyone
What: 6pm can be breakfast time if you sleep all day
Where: Pleasentview
When: Wednesday Evening
Bingo: Breakfast

It wasn't like Wynn to sleep late, even on his days off. However on this day in particular he surprised even himself. The night before had been spent wide awake until about 3am and then unhelpful bits of sleep on and off until he finally passed out much later. He slept right through shutting his alarm off and rolling back over. He slept through work. He slept through an appointment he had made to speak with one of his brother's doctors. He hadn't woken up until after 5 the following evening.

Since stress and other annoyances had kept Wynn from doing any shopping lately, he decided that a trip to the diner would be his best bet. He really didn't feel up to cooking, even if he did have things to cook. He just hated the idea that he'd be 'that guy' You know, the creepy one that goes into restaurants and dines alone.

He didn't want people to think that but his stomach had him thinking otherwise. He parked his car outside the diner and made his way inside, taking a seat at a corner booth, built for two.

(Thread) Even Pleasantview knows how to Party, open to Anyone
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]itsallhappening)

The Rutherford family is, without a doubt, the most prominent family in Pleasantview. Roger Rutherford, a real estate god, made his fortunes through buying and selling land but, on top of that, has his hands dipped in just about everything. Constance, the youngest daughter of Roger Rutherford, was often left alone in her family home due to her parents constantly being away for business and her older siblings having already moved out and started their own families.

Tonight was no different as Constance told anyone and everyone of a huge party she was throwing at her parent's mansion in Pleasantview. The place was stocked and decorated extravagantly as she sipped on a martini by the pool waiting for guests to arrive. Constance wasn't sure who'd show up considering how many acquaintances she has but, with a chuckle, she was quick to remember she didn't care.

Who: Grant, Geri, and Zander
What: Grant tries getting a hold of an old friend
When: Tuesday evening
Bingo: Wrong number

Since arriving at the Carter residence, Grant had spent a lot of time working on the farm with Charlie and Boone. The Carter family was nice enough and treated him well but working from dawn until dusk was wearing him out. Grateful to have a day off, Grant thought to make a call to an old friend, Zander, who lived in the area.

Zander had sent Grant a letter to the Carter farm when he caught wind that Grant would be staying with the Carter's for some time. The letter provided a number where Zander could be reached and Grant was praying that Zander would help him get out of the house.

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]containedchaos)

Morgan and Malcom had been planning their party for a few weeks and Malcom had gone as far as putting posters up around the BCA building to get more people to come. The night of the party Malcom popped into his sisters room. "What are you wearing tonight?" he asked.

"Probably these jean shorts and a tee shirt," she shrugged.

"I don't think so," he laughed and threw a blue dress at her. "Happy birthday twin!"

Morgan rolled her eyes. "How did I know?" she laughed anyways.

When everything was set, the and the twins were dressed to Malcom party standards, they opened the door and waited for the first wave of their friends to drop in and hopefully some new people from the building.

Who: Temperance and Nadja
What: Looking for a room mate?
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: Burnham City and BCA
Bingo for B: Something New

Temperance was incredibly nervous as she waited outside at the cafe where she told the foreign sounding girl to meet her. She hoped her possible future room mate wasn't a fashion diva like Elle because she knew that she wasn't dressed spectacularly. She sipped her iced coffee thoughtfully and poked around in her bag, looking for nothing in particular.

Waiting for the bus (Leif/Nadja)
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]inthefreakdom)

Leif had been asked, often enough in his lifetime, which language he thought in. Other professionals sometimes asked out of curiosity, usually to ascertain where a person originated from. People, he had learned, often thought in their mother tongue. Depending on the answer (and sometimes the accent) you could tell right away where a person was born or raised.

Of course, Leif had been raised bilingual, so he didn't have a particular mother tongue. His thoughts were all jumbled up, sometimes whole sentences in Lettish, sometimes fragmented between words mixed with English or any other language that floated in. Leif wondered, usually when he had time to sit and just think (like this very moment, waiting for the city bus to whisk him downtown) if other bilingual people had similar language-thought patterns.

At the moment he was functioning in Latvian and English, until a very pretty woman sat on the bench next to him. His brain automatically switched to French (ah oui, the language of love; such a romantic sap). It took him a moment to recognize her (if it was indeed her, because wouldn't it be weird to run into a childhood sweetheart in Burnham City?). "Don't I know you?" he asked tentatively. He wasn't sure he should come right out and call her name, in case it wasn't her. Wouldn't that be awkward?

Who: Anatoli
When: Saturday evening, July 11th
Where: Some place strange, Burnham City
What: Anatoli is finding it harder and harder to keep other's thoughts out of his head
Bingo: Waking up some place strange

It's dark and quiet. There's a faint scent of popcorn and spilled soda. Anatoli's not sure where he is. He remembers the headache, screaming loud so that he stumbled to his knees in the middle of the alleyway where he was walking. And then darkness, this pervasive, quiet darkness.

A noise startles him, followed by a light flicking on. )
