Who: Elle and Temperance
When: Thursday morning, after this
Where: Burnham City
What: Elle meets her sister for breakfast, they tend to do that
Bingo: Low Battery

Temperance was not pleased with being called out of bed so early by her sister especially since she had so little time these days. She begrudgingly dressed herself and left to meet Elle at their favorite breakfast café in the heart of the city. She spotted her sister looking uncharacteristically shaken.

The midnight colored owl fluttered in through the open window silently and gracefully landed on the end of the sofa. He sat there for a good few minutes before either of the siblings even realized he was there. "Futu-i!" Adrian shouted when he noticed the owl sitting on the sofa.

Iulie looked over and her eyes widened, but she still chastised her brother. )

V-day D-day Party at the Pleasantview Cafe, February 13th (open to all)
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]inthefreakdom)

Of all the days of the year that Elle Mann adored, Valentine's Day was fairly near the bottom. It wasn't so much that she had anything against the day; it was more that she had to watch moony-eyed teenagers and young couples clogging up her cafe on dates. Their precious romance was annoying and they'd sit at their tables staring at each other all night.

She decided then that she'd celebrate Valentine's Day (or the evening before as it worked out) in a way which would encourage all the local singles to come out and trash the idea of romance. She updated the cafe web page and put up fliers around town and in Burnham City. She decorated the cafe with torn paper hearts, little bomb shaped candles, candy and crossbones.

The local DJ already had a selection of anti-love songs ready to go and the party was thumping. Tonight was going to be a good night; Elle was counting on it.

Avast Me Hearties
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]inthefreakdom)

Jack didn't ordinarily go in for Halloween (pirate jokes aside), but he figured he owed Kylie.

After the great silence of July he finally manned up to talk to her. They'd come to a tenuous agreement to take things slow. Sex had been tabled (which Kylie was willing to go along with though it went against every fiber of her being). They went on a few dates to see how it was going to work. Jack struggled with the idea that he was dating a transgendered person, even though for Kylie she'd been a woman her whole life.

September saw them moving closing together. Jack was growing more willing to admit his feelings for her and Kylie was doing her best not to just blurt out how much she loved him. They still weren't very physical, but he had started kissing her again. Kylie was okay with that, having long conversations to override that need.

October had them moving closer to what they'd been before he learned the truth. )

Halloween Party! (Apartment 1003, open to all)
After having the significance of the dressing-up-and-getting-candy part of Halloween explained to her, Nadja was very eager to try the holiday out. Temperance had suggested a big, fun party-- and Nadja was never one to turn down a party. They made up a ton of cute invites to give to everyone in the building, and everyone they knew outside of it, and, the day before Halloween, they started to dress up the apartment in Halloween fare. It was a masterpiece.

Nadja dressed as a vampire-- a proper one, not one in a tiny skirt and midriff top (though it would probably have been an easier costume to put together). At first, she had a long black wig but she didn't like the way it made her look like Morticia Addams, so she decided to keep with her real hair and just play up the chalk-white makeup.

She put in her fake teeth and grinned at her housemate. "Hey Femp, mah feef ook goog?

Still in Exile (Bingo: It's Cold (and you guys thought I forgot about that))
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]tookawrongturn)

A second winter in exile. It was only just beginning, but already he felt the cold moving into his bones. It was uncomfortable, something he just couldn't get used to. Memories from their tropical vacation could only last so long, could only serve to warm him up long enough to pull the covers closer.

He wrapped up tight against the chill and practically ran home. He called for Kat, hoping they had some hot chocolate in the cupboards, or at least that she would curl up with him under a blanket. He kicked off his shoes, but rubbed at his arms, hoping to get some warmth back into them. "Honey?"

A Message
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]fleshandbone)

Who: Joan and Boyd Wolfram
When: A few days ago
Where: Joan's in Manhattan and Boyd is at Wolfram & Parrish in Burnham City
What: Joan calls Boyd after he drops a bomb on her answering machine

Summer in the city was Joan's favorite time of the year. Only once did she spend the summer outside of Manhattan and it was easily one of the biggest mistakes she had ever made. It ranked up there in the top five which included marrying Boyd. Her husband managed to convince her to follow him to Burnham city two summers ago. He bought a condo in Burnham, to be closer to work, and she agreed to move too so long as it was only a second home.

That summer was the summer she fell out of love with Boyd, that being if she ever loved him at all. The strain on their marriage Burnham caused resulted in the two spending a lot of time apart; Joan happily living her life in Manhattan and Boyd working away in Burnham. She thought of divorcing him once but his money kept her hatred silent. And there was no way Boyd would be that guy who's wife divorced him at the law firm. So the distance kept the marriage alive and quite the business agreement.

Hyperbole
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]parrishes)

Ingrid tapped her nails on the counter top, shifting her weight from hip to hip. She was wearing some over-the-top creation she'd picked up at a hot fashion spot earlier in the week.

Rachel observed her sister with mild interest. It seemed that everything about Ingrid was exaggerated lately. It was sad really, this competing for attention. Rachel was born first by fourteen minutes and somehow by doing so had garnered fourteen more minutes of attention. That was fourteen minutes Ingrid could never get back.

They had never competed, at least not out right. )

Weather Patterns
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]adrift)

The heat spilled up from the sidewalks, all the way up to her fifth floor apartment. She had the window open in the hopes of relieving some of the heat retained throughout the day; it didn't seem to be putting much of a dent in the temperature, even with all of her fans pointed directly toward it.

She turned off all the lights and stripped down to her underthings. Twice she had stood in front of the open refrigerator, soaking in the cool air until it felt as warm as everything else around her. She debated throwing ice cubes into the cold water bath she had drawn, but only dipped her feet in for a few minutes before growing listless again.

Her cruise left tomorrow. She had bought the ticket on a whim, weeks ago. It sat on top of her dresser drawer, one corner tucked under a pretty box she'd had since her early childhood. As the trip grew closer she started to believe that buying the ticket hadn't been a whim; it was something closer to fate or destiny.

Something within her knew that this trip would bring her to that elusive place she had always longed for, a strange dream she had often. Her life was going to change and as the weeks flew past quicker and warmer, that feeling grew into a certainty. This cruise was the turning point in her life.

She wasn't entirely certain how it would all turn out, but she knew that this cruise would end in a destination (and perhaps not the one it was meant to). The heat and humidity was fine enough for now; in a few days she wouldn't care about any kind of weather because her life would finally be as it was meant to be.

Dahlia would finally find the place where she belonged.

Isabelle wasn't exactly sure what this was all about. She hadn't talked to Corwin for a few years. He wasn't the sort of person you keep in touch with. She was surprised to find him in Canada, calling her from his hotel and asking for a meeting.

She spotted him on the edge of a tourist crowd and moved toward him. "What do you want?" she asked, skepticism clouding her usual kind and open demeanor.

He grinned. "Nice to see you too," he replied, not in the least surprised by Isabelle's reaction. He opened his arms and leaned to place a light kiss on her cheek. "I've missed you," he added off handedly, as if that were a decent way to start this conversation.

She moved back from him as if stung by the little kiss. )

Stand By Your Man
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]adrift)

From the railing of his modest cruise ship the ocean looked beautiful. It was truly something in this day and age to make a living at what you liked and to be able to do it surrounded by people you chose. Sven counted that among his many blessings, another of which was standing beside him at the deck railing.

"Beautiful sailing today," Colter commented, his elbow brushing against that of his captain. They didn't bother to hide their relationship anymore. Most of the men working on board were in this for money or pleasure; they didn't care much about the orientation and involvements of their captain and first mate. Still, the men maintained a demure distance. Neither captain nor first mate was much into public displays of affection.

Sven nodded in agreement. )

Asher wasn't a huge fan of his office. He was surrounded by false people and false ideas. He loved his work, had a natural talent for it. Still, it wasn't very pleasant at the offices of Westerveldt & Parrish and Asher wondered why he had taken the job with them in the first place.

Sure, the benefits package was phenomenal, the paid vacation was entirely worth it, and the pay rate alone was enough to say yes. But the associates were cutthroat monsters, the basement was entirely off limits with no explanation whatsoever and he had never once seen the partners.

So far as he could tell, the benefits barely outweighed the negative aspects of the job. )

Who: Arthur and Mindy
What: The two meet for breakfast
Where: Some diner near the BCA building
Bingo: Breakfast

He couldn't help but fidget in his seat as Arthur waited for his HIV/AIDS therapy partner to arrive. He also couldn't help but wonder if his nerves were a mess because he was lying about being HIV positive or if he was nervous about having a swimsuit model as a "coping buddy". Lucky for him Mindy O'Conner didn't seem like the brightest crayon in the box and probably would never figure out he was faking.

His heart sank in his chest as his thoughts, like flies, attacked a pile of shit of a horrible realization. What if she lives for a long time?

"Sorry I'm late," Mindy said before setting her purse down onto the table. "You wouldn't believe the god damn traffic out there," she said before pulling her sunglasses of her face. "Love your shirt by the way," she added with a wink as she slid into her side of the booth. The two agreed to meet for breakfast at some diner near the B.C.A. building since Mindy had a rather full schedule during the day.

(Thread) A Little Quality Time [Angie / Alex]
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]all_these_fools)

Who: Angie and Alex
When: Monday evening / Monday night
Where: Alex's apartment, Burnham City
Rated: Will be R
What: Angie brings a very cranky and very sleepy Alex some dinner. She helps him relax, then comes back later that night and while sleep was the original plan, there's a bit of sexy-times.
Bingo: n/a

It was around five-thirty Monday evening and Angie was curled up on the couch in Alex's apartment. Alex was due home from work at any moment, provided he hadn't gotten stuck in a rush of people at the subway station. Sometimes that happened on Mondays. It was strange. Sitting on the coffee table in front of her was a paper bag of Thai take-out and she was hoping he'd be home soon to eat before it got cold.

Alex's roommate Ben was not at home (likely gone to work around three), so Angie had let herself in with the key Alex had given her and made herself comfortable while she waited. She was so hungry but was going to wait for Alex before digging in. However, she snacked on a curry chicken and potato puff. The smell was too good she couldn't just let them sit there while she waited. They were the most amazing appatizer she'd ever had the chance to eat. It was why she always ensured to get a large order of them every time she stopped at that particular Thai restaurant.

Angie'd only been awake a few hours, having worked super late the night before. She'd finally fallen asleep around eight that morning and slept restlessly for a couple hours. She got up at around three, did some quick running around, accomplishing a few of her high priority errands and returned to her apartment to shower and get ready for work. As she was doing her make-up she'd checked her phone for any texts and was reminded of one she'd gotten earlier from Alex. She had decided that she was going to see him and she would bring dinner with her.

Learning that Alex had a rough night the night before, she called Jaisen at DQ and said she'd come into work at eight rather than six so she could stop by and surprise her boyfriend with dinner and some chat time. Depending on Alex's mood, she thought about asking him down to the bar for a couple drinks. The bar wouldn't get busy until after nine so she guessed having him down there would keep her occupied and help keep his mind of unpleasant things.

Time dragged a bit and Angie reached for the remote control, about to turn on the Tv to flip channels when the door to the apartment opened and Alex shuffled inside.

"Hey Lex-lex." she said in a cheery tone, getting up from the couch and walking towards him, smiling brightly.
