Okay, I have to ask.

With all the superhero movies coming out lately....

Which one is your favorite?
Which one will you never ever watch again even if it was the last movie on Earth?
Best casting ever?
Worst casting ever?

*giggles* And Mom kicked so much ass. It was awesome.

My favorite: I hate going to the obvious one, but I'm sorry, The Dark Knight kicks the hell out of just about every other movie, let alone comic book movies.

Brain bleach inducing: Oh god. So many bad ones, but two stick out. The big budget bomb Batman and Robin and the spine-tinglingly bad The Batman vs Dracula. Blech.

Best Casting: I have two, but the second cheats a little. The first is the aforementioned The Dark knight. The other is the awesome homage to the Silver Age of comics known as the Incredibles

Worst Casting: Robert Pattinson as Kurt Cobain. I know it's not a comic book movie and not even a movie yet, but its so bad it has to be mentioned.

So, speaking as someone with no relations in any movies - I'd venture to say Kick-Ass is the best super hero movie out.

Ok, so what about Batman? you ask. Or Iron Man?
Those were amazing films. Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was stellar. RDJ chews up the scenery like crazy, then blows it up behind him.

But look how many tries at Batman it took them to do it right, honestly. How hard a concept is Batman? You have tons and tons and tons of great material, an iconic character, dark and gritty built in, and mass fan appeal. Its successes were built off of having clear cut ideas what not to do, and even then, trying to find someone who pulls off both Bruce Wayne and Batman - yeah, not so certain they nailed that one, sorry. And when you're supposedly telling Batman's story, and end up telling Harvey Dent's, for which Batman is a supporting character - sure, it was exciting, but I'd like Batman to carry a little more of the acting and story load if I'm going to call it 'the best'. His villains storytold circles around him.

Iron Man - wow, RDJ was amazing. He nails Tony Stark, cold. The villain was good, the action was really well done - I loved them really pulling out the stops to do an aerial chase scene. The supporting cast ranged from good to excellent. But again, a lot of material to work with, and a massive budget, so there should be high expectations. Shoehorning Tony into the Avengers by having Nick Fury go all 'mysterious stranger' - there's really a solution here, we know it, but we're not going to tell you what it is, neener, neener - now join the Avengers - and then having Tony figure it out then... instead of, say, just having him figure it out... and adding a Howard Stark 'failed tear-jerker moment' did nothing for me either as a plot point.
Great movie, not the best.

Kick-Ass - the entire cast, with only one debatably A-list actor did a stellar job. They got Nick Cage to act in support of an unknown child actress and make her role stronger instead of trying to gnaw on the scenery himself. They melded their humor and grit nicely. The action built and built steadily. They had an untested premise, nothing like the budget of those other movies, a young cast... and they knocked it out of the park. The soundtrack hit on all cylinders, everyone did their job, most of the characters with any screen time were nuanced and actually, within their concept, pretty believable.
It didn't have some of the high budget pretty the others did - I posit that its a better movie for accomplishing what it did without those things, on a tenth of the budget.

Dad and Uncle Tony were well cast. I'm not sure if I prefer the other guy or not, but Don Cheadle captured Dad's hardass military side. And James Rhodes is one of the few people who can just tell Tony Stark he's going to do something and Uncle Tony just...goes with it.

Meanwhile, Natasha Romanov is scary. I'm torn between getting her a Mother's Day gift to be nice, or because I don't want her melting my face on principle.

And any movie with Mom in it is cool, though Ms. Paltrow was more whiny than a firecracker. Mom doesn't take that kind of crap from anyone.
