The Costs of Doing Business
After her previous run was ruined, Jean-Louise was relieved to finally be on the Kree border sorting out oatmeal orders. Just one little outpost now, but give her time. She was giving the senior officers a sample of the new milkshake-like beer recipe she'd learned when she found herself looking out the window.

The Deviant party leads the way through the corridors of the fortress-ship. It's clear from the get-go that the ship is both highly advanced, moreso than the Kree themselves, and that it was full of soldiers armed to the teeth. The party was led to a device similar to an elevator, though designed for larger groups with a clear, but durable plating guarding their ascent. When they reach their destination they'll see a large antechamber designed for both astetic and defensibility. The room was full of armored soldiers, along with several unarmored Deviants of varied appearance. At the end of the chamber was a raised throne, seating an aged Deviant. Val-Oth and Kay-Len approached him and both bowed deeply.

"Highlord..I take full responsibility for the halting of your orders," Kay-Len stated.

The old Deviant looked at her for a moment before he took in the Guardians curiously. "Your decision evokes more curiosity than anger, Kay-Len." The voice is somewhat raspy, but with a smooth countenance. "I am Highlord Gar-Oth, one of the three Highlords of the Bastion. I understand you would speak with me."

I have come before you with my subordinates to take official record of your grievance with the Kree Empire, and mediate a temporary solution until an official resolution can be sought with the Council." Val-Oth silenced himself quickly. "Have a table brought in as well so out guests may sit." A servant brings Gar-Oh a glass. "So, I'm assuming you've deduced our origins?" "Yes," he admits, taking a sip. "We are aware that there are other strains of our kind out there, though I admit we did not know how many." Gar-Oth seems to look as if he acquired a bad taste. "I assure you, young lady, we have as little love for the Kree as we do the Eternals. Both have wronged us in the past."

He takes a fuller drink. "After the Celestial departed from their experiment, the godlike Eternals felt it was their right to rule over the rest of us. The Kree outnumbered them, we had superior minds, but they had the power. In our infancy neither the Kree or ourselves could stop them. We were enslaved, the Kree as their fodder and my people lived as think-tanks to the Eternals' whims."

"Are they?" It wasn't a question, though it didn't sound like mockery or doubt either. "Generations after the Eternals enslaved us, both our people and the Kree adapted eventually joined forces to overthrow them. When we succeeded however, the Kree turned on us and drove us from our own homes. So yes, young lady," Gar-Oth clarified, eyes glowing dangerously. "our BEEF..is with the Kree."
