Fortune Favors the Bold
Night was settling over the city and in S.H.I.E.L.D. Central the night shift was just coming on duty and settling in for the night. It looked like it was going to be a rather quiet night. Just like last night, the one before that, the one before that and so on.

	Zenbia, aka Pisces usually tried to keep herself near Mikel or Virgo - easier to pretend she had some kind of authority within the group. The intrusion is noted from the next room. 	Two on one. Even with her abilities, this could get ugly fast if she doesn't take good advantage of her surprise. She only knows a little of the surfacers' dimensional magic, but it may well help here with the mist girl. "I summon the Winds of Watoomb!" she calls, howling wind whipping from her extended hand. That stops the spell before it can do too much damage and makes her stagger, but she doesn't fall. While she isn't Namor, she is half-Atlantean, with all the gifts that provides - definitely not human, and definitely going to take some teamwork here.

"Human fool." she snarls, casting a quick flash of super-bright light to both try and disrupt his aim, and help her keep an eye out for him.

Enhanced reflexes allowed Jack to turn his head quick enough to avoid the worst of the light blast, but he couldn’t avoid the momentary blindness. If the Zodiac follower thought that would stop him, she was greatly mistaken. He didn’t need his eyes to track or fight.

Two short katanas blades were retrieved from inside his clothing. Eyes closed, a hilt in each hand, he leaped at her to distract her attention from the other two rescuers.

Nightingale, meanwhile, doesn't trust Mikel at all. Leaving Toni and Jack to deal with any others, she attempts to truss him up like a turkey, binding his arms and legs together, blindfolding him, and gagging him. She's not sure if he has any direct mind-control powers, or if he just has a great deal of skill at mental conditioning, but either way, she's not taking any chances.

Two, possibly three on one. These were not odds Zenbia liked at all, even if they were puny mortals. She waves a hand, and five illusionary mirror images of the woman appear, moving as she does. When she follows it by following up with a mystic blast towards Nightengale, the room seems to almost fill with magical energy, making it extra difficult to tell what's real and what's illusion.

	Magical energy or not, they're just illusions, and Toni's goggles--switched over to infra-red mode--see through them just fine. She took aim with her rifle and fired a repulsor-blast at Zenbia. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Still seeing white spots behind his eyelids and nothing else, Zenbia's illusion magic had no effect on Jack's nose. He knew where everyone was in the area, but not what they were doing. Toni's repulsor blast was close enough to knock him aside in mid-leap. He struck the closest solid object with a grunt but was on his feet again in seconds. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The hits from the mostly human Avengers mostly sting. The repulsor blast is something else entirely. She curses in Atlantean, trying to figure out how they're seeing through her illusion spell, forced to continually retreat under fire - making it very difficult to focus enough to cast a spell.

Finally, she drops a seed of some sort, and teleports away. Two seconds after she disappears, the seed explodes in a wash of fire.

	Still blinded, Jack dropped to the ground when the explosion hit. Heat and fire pelted him as he rolled to the furthest point he could get before a wall stopped him. (Reply to this)(Parent)
