[Chase stared at the parallel bars set up in front of him, his wheelchair pointed toward one of the open ends of it. He was supposed to be waiting for a nurse or some kind of spotter before doing this but the Crow couldn't stand being in the damn wheelchair a moment longer. He hated being helpless like this and having to rely on others for so much of what he used to be able to do on his own.

A glance at the door and he put the locks on the wheels, grabbing both bars as his feet set on the ground. It felt odd, the floor under his bare feet again and Chase looked down at them only to give a rueful laugh. They looked pale and weak, but he hadn't lost much muscle mass in his legs which was something he was thankful for. His arms he needed to tone again what with not being able to lift weights because of his ribs. At least he could do that now in his wheelchair, the doctors said his ribs were as good as new again but to lay off doing any squats with them for a few more months.

But he dallied long enough, hoisting himself up onto his feet and pushed up with them as well. Immediately they started to give, knees buckling and hurting. Chase bit back a curse and pulled himself up again, arms shaking with the effort but he managed to support his weight long enough to lock his knees. Even if he was panting with the effort.]

Ha... This'll be longer than I thought...

He doesn't! Chase...just hates seeing Allen in pain. And he knows that his shoulder still hurts, his scars might do the same. It is sort of! Chase puts more weight on it, not locking the knee this time to see if he can walk more normally and less stiff legged, taking his other foot and moving it forward.] A'least ya dinna step over when I stood up tha first time.

[Only because Chase thinks he'd get hurt. He's more capable than that, even deprived of food. Intent on protecting those he cares for.

That's the same as thinking he's fragile, isn't it? That the slightest bump will aggravate his own wounds. But he takes another step back as Chase moves forward, arms a few inches away from his sides, slightly held away from his body. Being careful, just in case he slips.] That's because I knew you wouldn't fall.

[No cutting himself off there, if he makes it sound like he's being forced Allen won't agree. Chase stops and straightens, locking his legs to look at Allen.]

's kinda made me reconsider a few things. 'nd I know yer prob'bly gonna say no fer other reasons [That being still getting over Sleeper and Vampvi being gone.] but 'd like ta try one o'those "date" things. [Bit red on his face is not from strain and exhaustion.] Tha two o'us, maybe Seren. Ta tha' park we talked 'bout.

...staring at Chase a little bit. Oh, god, he didn't...] You told him that..? [hkgjdahkj WHY WOULD YOU EVER.... HE'S TRYING NOT TO MAKE HIS UNREQUITED LOVE THAT DAMN NOTICEABLE e-even if he knows Lavi knows anyway... sob gkjhda though that bit about Lavi being annoying has him worrying a little...

At least, of course, until Chase... asks that. And Allen blinks, staring at Chase. His gaze flits to more noticeably look at Chase's cheeks - and he tilts his head, hearing the actual sincerity in the request.]

[HE BROUGHT UP ALLEN FIRST, NOT CHASE. He couldn't say something other than the truth and lead Lavi on about their relationship. Chase has wanted it to remain friendship, has ever since (most of) the hurt stopped, because he knew it wouldn't work well as anything more. And Lavi just wants them to be boyfriends and date and whatever else he had in mind. Lavi's told him that he's not good for Allen either, told him he's taken anyway, and broken to boot.]

Had ta. [An annoyed huff as he looks away from Allen now, the blush slightly growing on his face.] I wouldn've asked if'n I wasn't serious, Allen. [A pause, then hurriedly] 's fine if'n ya say no. 's no' like 'm expectin ya ta say yes if'n yer heart's even tha slightest against it. 'nd donna even think o'sayin yes fer Seren's sake.

But... Allen pauses yet again at that. "Had ta"... That was just talking about telling Lavi, right? Not... not asking him out.

After a very nervous moment of silence, Allen takes a step forward so that he can stand more properly in front of Chase.] I'd... I'd like to. [A pause, as he moves closer to nose at Chase's cheek.] ...Just.. not right now. I'm still not okay after Allen... [After his Allen was just suddenly there anymore...] ...I want to, though.

The noises of relief at Allen's closeness and first answer get cut off by the small stirrings of insecurity, but nothing of jealousy.] 's fine, if'n ya can't we donna have ta do anythin. We ken jus' forget 'bout it fer right now. [He grips the bars a bit tighter than he needs to.] 'sides, gettin me walkin again is more important than a date.

[Allen... knows he knows, but he doesn't want it being a reminder. Just one more thing wrong in Allen's life, because of him... he didn't want that for Lavi. Not at all.

--No jealousy-- thank god. That was... that was good. If Chase was jealous because of his loss, he wouldn't know what to do about it... So he soaks up the relief while he can, commits the sound to memory - because it's because of him that it's there at all - and Allen let's out a very soft sigh. Almost content. A small smile tugs at his lips, and he pulls back, but only enough to look Chase in the eye.] Then.. what if we-- went on a date to celebrate, when you can walk again? [Cheeks tinged pinged, nervous - but it's obvious from that much that he means the offer. Would even like it.]

[If there had been it would have been more based on the impact left on Allen because of Sleeper, how much love Allen must have felt for that other version of himself. Something that he wouldn't get, or so he believes.

Allen's words get Chase to look at him though he looks away once again and nods.] Promise I wonna rush things 'nd work harder than 'm supposed ta. [That way Allen will have more time to get over Sleeper, two weeks more at least, maybe more.]

[Unfortunately... Allen wouldn't be devastated in the same way by anyone else leaving. Perhaps to a similar level, but not the same way; so no, he wouldn't get that. But Allen would still be crushed if Chase were to leave.

Allen's smile widens slightly.] That's all I can really ask you for... [And he leans over, brushing a slight little kiss to Chase's cheek before pulling back again.]

[Where as Chase just figures he'd be sad for a day or two and then move on as if the Crow had never been there.

The blush briefly comes back again but Chase hides it by looking down at his feet and starts walking again. He'll remain quiet until they get him turned around and headed back the other way, body slowly starting to tire but it's still faster than what he's used to.]

[His own value in the eyes of other people is very low in his head. He's grown up being nothing to them but a temporary face, a tool to be used. In some ways he's not used to being worth something to someone else, wanted, in different ways yes, but not valuable otherwise.

Each time he does something like this, the things in relationships that he's unfamiliar with, Allen can expect a blush. The last time Allen saw him blush was on his birthday when he got that forehead kiss.]

He's comin back, 's slow. 've been wantin ta put'im closer ta my room so I ken keep an eye on'im. 've told'im 'bout Seren this time 'round. Still refuses ta call me "Hunter" though.

[And yet he thinks Allen would risk his life for him. Get with the program, Chase - whether things work out between them or not, you are loved so very much. You're a piece of Allen's tiny little world now. Not a vital one, not one he couldn't manage without, but an important one nonetheless.

[Not risk his life, just yank him out of the way so Seren wouldn't get sick waiting for him to come back to life. He's adjusting! It's just...slow going when all you've had for all your life is nothing close to that except in childhood, a childhood you barely remember.]

It'll be a while yet before I get ta go back ta my rooms anyway. He's fine where he is right now. Jus'...check in on'im?

[He looks up from his feet, positive that he told Allen, but apparently he hadn't. Unfortunately removing his gaze from his feet make his legs buckle a little under his weight.] New record, 51st one. Yeah... I can do that, it shouldn't be a problem. [Whitey was a friend, after all. He tried to look after him too when he could.

Fer a few months now. But...'ve stopped seein'im. [Really the record name was the curse that let him see Fourteenth, change the letters around and Ehan becomes Neah. A name that he never knew.] In his head 'll always be "Lavi"... Watch out fer tha chair, yeah?

[Stubborn moron. :T] I know... [it's said softly, and Allen reaches a over to cup Chase's cheek in one hand. He doesn't tip the Crow's head up though, instead moving closer to bury his nose in Chase's hair, however briefly. He knew... Weakness was something he could understand. Thinking you could do so much, and then being limited by a weak body... He'd never go back to that.]

...that's good, right? [that he wasn't halucinating, that he could get on with his life.] Because he likes you. [Pausing though, and letting out a soft 'ah' before he steps back and away from the crow, being mindful of the wheel chair.]

A soft snort.] They're still here, just not at home. And he's got a funny way of showing it. [At the chair now Chase slowly turns himself around and just glances at Allen for help as he starts to sit back down in it. Muscles are finally refusing his orders finally and he's shaking a little with the effort to sit.]

Allen noses at the top of the Crow's head the slightest bit before he pulls away, trying to find the proper scent underneath it all. Hey, being like this is just as good in his opinion.]

...so you still see him here? [Shrugging, though. Whitey was... well, Whitey. He just didn't do things the way he should. He stands directly behind the chair though, making sure it wouldn't go rolling out from underneath him, while he hooks places his hands on Chase's sides to help steady him.]
