Jools/Bobby

Jools had been preparing herself for her first official date all week. It took her days to pick her simple gray dress (with the advice of any girl who walked past her door). It took her even longer to convince herself that it wasn't going to end in disaster.

She knocked on Bobby's dorm room door and waited for his answer. She was grateful for the delay, taking that last minute to steady her nerves and the floating feeling spreading through her chest and into her head.

Jools/Bobby

Bobby opened the door to her gentle knock a little eagerly. His nerves were at breaking point-- Jools might not know him well enough to know that when he wore his glasses he was trying to hide, but when they met up with Sam and Colby his friend would know instantly.

He grinned at her stupidly. "You look really pretty. I mean. You always look pretty."

Jools/Bobby

Her face split into a shy, pleased grin. "You look really handsome," she said giving him the up and down. She didn't know the trick about his glasses; he wore them sometimes when they played chess. She assumed that maybe his eyes were tired. "I'm not too early, am I?" She wasn't used to this dating thing and had no idea about the etiquette.

Jools/Bobby

"Not at all!" Bobby was also clueless about dating routines, and had she tried any on him he would have been confused. For instance, if she had been late to make him desperate to see her, he'd have thought she didn't like him very much and had forgotten about their date. And if she'd shown up early to catch him off guard, he'd think he'd forgotten and then he'd feel terrible. So all in all, it was good that neither of them really had any idea what they were doing.

"Oh," he said, remembering with a faint blush his mother's very strict instructions. He vanished from the door for a moment and returned with a rose stem. "This is for you."

Jools/Bobby

She blushed and thought to herself we're off to an early start with this girly moony shit. She took the rose, her fingers lingering over his hand for a moment as it changed hands. "Thank you."

A boy had never bought her flowers before. She wasn't sure what to make of it. "I should have brought something for you." She was suddenly, frustratingly flustered. "I didn't even think of it."

Jools/Bobby

He smiled shyly. "You brought me you; that's pretty awesome." He closed the door behind him, and offered her his arm. They were going to meet Sam and Colby at the dance, but maybe she wouldn't mind if they took the long way there. Even if he did get horribly nervous and tongue-tied around her, he did still want to have her to himself for a little bit.

Jools/Bobby

She swooned nervously and reached out tentatively to take his arm. It felt nice to have that little touch connecting them. And made her very nervous at the same time. She had no idea what to say to him next without sounding ridiculous or dorky. "It's a bit chilly out. I can do a warming charm before we head out," she suggested. She didn't think to bring a jacket, trying very hard to impress him with her choice of dress.

Yev/Open

Yevgeni really had no idea what he was doing at a dance. He didn't dance... ever, it just wasn't his thing. So with his hands shoved in his pockets he rocked back on his heels just waiting for the right time to sneak out.
whodoo From: [info]whodoo Date: February 12th, 2011 01:15 am (UTC) (Link)

Yev/Quinn

There was never a dance or school event where Quinn was early. It was as if it was against her moral code to show up within the first hour. So the second hour it was.

Quinn adjusted the neckline of her rather showy dress as she came up beside Yevgeni. She had seen the boy standing off to the side when she entered and had decided to pay a visit to the youngest de Kooning.

"Well it doesn't look like you're having any fun."
yevgeni From: [info]yevgeni Date: February 12th, 2011 05:24 am (UTC) (Link)

Yev/Quinn

Yev's whole body tensed a bit when Quinn started talking to him. He never really knew what to do in these situations. "Oh," he said quietly. "I just, um, I am not a good dancer," he admitted, mumbling a bit.

"Are you having a nice time?" he asked timidly, staring at his own feet.

Tatum/Frankie

It was another dance, and her step-mom seemed to be catching onto this theme of Tatum actually going to them. She had received her dress almost a week before the actual night of the dance and it had been hanging on it's hanger on the back the door in her room, like a looming pink nightmare. She had been trying to avoid thinking about it, but knew the day to actually wearing it was getting closer and closer.

Now fully dressed up, feeling foreign all over except for her feet, Tatum was fidgeting uncomfortably with the top of the dress, giving it a rough pull upward. It kept sliding down, and even with the padded bra she had been sent to go with it, there wasn't much improvement. Between the god awful outfit, Frankie seemed to be in some kind of piss that Tatum just couldn't put her finger on.

Asking about it seemed sort of dangerous, and she wasn't sure she wanted to go there. It would be best to salvage what was left of the night.

Glancing over at her taller than usual girlfriend, Tatum offered a little smile. "You wanna go smoke or something? It's still pretty early," she suggested, turning to glance at the crowd as she said it. Some people were around, but most were just showing up.

Tatum/Frankie

Frankie had not wanted to go to the dance. Valentine's Day was a monsterous creation and she didn't condone it one bit. Tatum was right, Frankie was in a massive mood, more than usual, as was evident by the scowl on her face that juxtaposed her dress.

Many things were playing on her mind. Her parents, the monsters, her most recent spat with Leon and generally being totally over Valentines shenanigans. She stalked towards the exit as Tatum suggested a smoke and didn't stop until they were behind a tall shrub

"You should tell her you don't like the dresses. Where does she find them?" She cast a disapproving eye over the general pinkness and shook her head.
porcelinaofvast From: [info]porcelinaofvast Date: February 10th, 2011 01:46 pm (UTC) (Link)

Tatum/Frankie

Once they were settled behind the shrub, Tatum was already digging around inside of the cigarette case. She held a joint between her own lips, and passed a cigarette to Frankie, looking up as she spoke. "Tell her?" she echoed, a little sheepishly, as if it were the most absurd thing she ever heard. In all honesty, it had never crossed her mind. It wouldn't be worth it to listen to her step-mother lamenting every time she saw her for the next six months.. not to mention the tiff Sera would be in if she upset her precious mother.

"She doesn't care. It's not about what I want, is it? If it was, I think she'd ask me what I wanna wear. She thinks they're.. very cute," the redhead offered sullenly, lighting up the joint and inhaling thoughtfully. "I have no idea where she finds them. She must go in to Portland to do it, there isn't any place that sells dresses like these close by. Which I guess means I should appreciate the effort.. or something."
petitechou From: [info]petitechou Date: February 10th, 2011 02:03 pm (UTC) (Link)

Tatum/Frankie

Frankie rolled her eyes and took the cigarette, waiting for the lighter and tutting once it was lit.

"Well if she doesn't care then she's not a very nice person, is she? You should tell her that you're not a dress up doll and that you have your own style which makes you look lovely and not like a freshman."

She raised a challenging eyebrow at Tatum. "Or I will."
porcelinaofvast From: [info]porcelinaofvast Date: February 10th, 2011 02:10 pm (UTC) (Link)

Tatum/Frankie

"She isn't always, but she's my mom," Tatum replied, watching Frankie smoking for a moment. "Well, she's not my mom, but she's.. you know what I mean. She's still my parent. She's family. I don't want to piss her off, it's just one night," she offered. Standing up for herself just never seemed like an option, and when she really thought about it, that probably started at home. She always did what her parents wanted, when they were watching.

She had always kept up appearances. They didn't even know she smoked, for christ's sake. She had no idea how she had gotten so good at hiding from them, everything from them, it was like second nature. Even if she was coming out of her shell more this year, old habits died hard.

When Frankie gave her that challenging look, Tatum paled quickly, coughing a little bit on some smoke. "Don't! Seriously, I don't care that much," she pleaded, even if it wasn't true. If anyone knew how miserable these dresses made her, it was Frankie. Lying to her was sort of pointless.
petitechou From: [info]petitechou Date: February 10th, 2011 02:19 pm (UTC) (Link)

Tatum/Frankie

It was annoying her that Tatum would put up with being uncomfortable just for her parents but then, maybe it was annoying because Frankie wouldn't. She could be so belligerent and it definitely didn't make life easy.

"Yes, I'll tell her she can stick her stupid dresses up her ass" Frankie mused out loud. "Then I might tell her that you're a raging homosexual since you'll never tell her."
porcelinaofvast From: [info]porcelinaofvast Date: February 10th, 2011 02:24 pm (UTC) (Link)

Tatum/Frankie

Tatum winced a little when Frankie said that, but tried not to betray any of it across her expression. She stayed straight faced, turning her head slightly to exhale shakily. "Fuck off, that's not even funny," she murmured, clearly sulking despite her best efforts to stay cool.

"You know what I'm like."

Ginger/Open

An hour as a suitable amount of time to be late, Ginger thought. And considering she had to get dolled up for this sort of event, she didn't think there was a need to rush. More importantly, she figured, there was a need to make sure certain other people were going first. After all, she didn't believe in wasted efforts either.

And tonight? Was not about having a good dance. No, tonight was about teaching a few queen bees and one asshole that there are some 'bitches' you don't mess with. And to think, she was so nice to this poor souls normally. They weren't even worth her effort most of the time, but she gave them all her attention.

Aww. What a shame she had to teach them better.

And for now she had three poor unfortunate souls on her list- Michi, Sim and that fucking bitch Frankie. Heh. Revenge was sweet, wasn't it?

Re: 8:00 - 9:00 PM

Malachi walked in to CCI’s main hall and immediately felt like this was a mistake; it was a jungle of pink, white and red streamers and hearts were everywhere. He saw some couples arm in arm and he shoved his hands in the pockets of his dark gray dress pants.

He looked around the room to see if any of his buds were here; laughing to himself, Mal dropped his head, If they’re here, they’re here for some girl. This was insane…girls didn’t want a guy like him for relationships. He had a bad reputation and a sketchy lineage; yep, he was just good to party with and maybe for a one night stand, but no one wanted him for the long haul.

What the fuck, he might as well grab some punch and a few snacks; the tall, slender Beauregard took a spot by the snack table and checked out the girls in their finest.

Re: 8:00 - 9:00 PM

If Amy was to be honest with herself, she was here for the food. And an excuse to wear the red dress that she'd bought on impulse a couple of weeks ago at her favorite secondhand shop. It was way too nice to just sit there and collect dust. She'd showed up late, about ten minutes ago, and made a beeline to the refreshment table, sampling the food and getting a kick out of how disgruntled some of the victims of the exploding glitter hearts got. After a quick trip to the bathroom, she returned to the table to find someone else in her spot. Well, it was a free country.

He was hot and probably a senior, an intimidating combination. She should have taken this as a sign to get the hell out before she made an ass of herself, but noticing a chunk of glitter in his hair, she couldn't help but blurt out, "You have glitter in your hair."

There went not making an ass of herself.

Re: 8:00 - 9:00 PM

The brownies were pretty good and really, who could mess up chex mix? What Mal couldn’t believe was the punch; in every decent high school movie, someone spiked the punch…why did that never happen in real life? Maybe a few drinks would warm him up and make this whole thing bearable. He had no problem with partying and sex. He loved girls. It was the whole romance and relationship thing that tripped him up. After the love of his life was forced to leave him by her parents, because of his family background, his faith in relationships was shaken.

Who came up with these fucking exploding glitter hearts, Malachi wondered, just as a voice startled him with You have glitter in your hair. He turned and looked down into the eyes of a beautiful girl in a red dress. His reddish-brown eyes twinkled with mischief, “Who doesn’t?”, he replied with a smile, reaching to brush some from her hair.

Malachi paused for a moment, as if he were debating with himself about saying something, then he leaned towards the lovely girl and spoke loudly over the music, “Don’t take this wrong…I know we don’t know each other, but you look incredible in that red dress.” He shifted his weight and offered her his hand, “Malachi Ryder. Call me Mal”, he introduced himself.

Re: 8:00 - 9:00 PM

Amy blushed, simultaneously cursing her pale skin and grateful that the lights were low so that the fact that her skin was probably the same color as her dress right now wasn't too obvious.

"I'm Amy." she managed to say, shaking Mal's hand. "And um, thanks. I mean, the main the reason I even came here was so that this dress didn't collect dust- didn't want to buy it for nothing."

Another heart exploded not too far away, though luckily not close enough to get glitter on her.

"Okay, whoever came up with those exploding glitter hearts has to be some crazed Twilight fan or something." she snickered.

Re: 8:00 - 9:00 PM

She blushed, Malachi loved a girl who blushed; he didn’t see many of those on the party scene.

Her hand was small inside of his and he repeated her name, “Amy”, it was soft and feminine, like her, and it made him smile. “That dress should never collect dust”, he exclaimed, offering her a cup from the table, “Punch?” He canted his head as he looked this Amy over. How could this girl have only come down to trot out a dress she wanted to show off? Certainly there had to be tons of guys interested.

“Hahaha”, Mal chuckled at Amy’s remark about the exploding hearts, “Team Edward, I’m betting. Team Jacob fans would never promote all that glitter…werewolves and glitter just don’t mix.”

Malachi wondered if she came down here in that dress hoping to see anyone special, because he sure would like to dance with her. “So, Amy, looking for anyone I might know? I’ve been here a few minutes. Maybe I saw them go by.”

Re: 8:00 - 9:00 PM

"Thanks." Amy nodded, accepting the cup and grinning at the Twilight joke before taking a sip. She was a little puzzled by the question of whether she was looking for anyone- she wondered what gave Mal that impression. Did she seem like she was looking for someone? She hadn't been scanning the dance floor since she made it to the refreshment table or anything. Oh, well.

"Nah." she answered casually. With a little smile, she added "Unless you count looking for people getting annoyed when the glitter hearts explode directly on them- it's pretty funny."
