Amends @ 11:52 am

[info]lantern_kid:

Henry breathes out a long breath as he sits down opposite Avalon, Josh, and Katima. He barely knows any of them, really -- he met Avalon barely a month ago, Josh a week and a half ago, and Katima less than a week ago. And yet... in many ways, he feels he knows them so well, they might as well be Din, or Jon, or Jai, or Iris, or Allanah.

"Okay," he says. "I've got a lot to say here. So... please. Let me just say it. Just... hear me out, okay?"

Stolen Hope. @ 11:20 pm

[info]bluelantern:

Leaving Earth and Josh and Henry and Katima had been terribly hard for Avalon. When the sun set, he said goodbye to Josh and forced himself to go. Reaching Odym is imperative now, but only because Avalon doesn't know what else to do with himself. His whole life is crumbling.

The Blue Lantern doesn't cry anymore, for he's shed all his tears by now into Josh's shirt. It felt good to let that go, but it's past now and it's time to be serious. To face the bed that he's made. Avalon does not expect to be welcomed warmly - there's never been a case of a Blue Lantern loosing their way the way he has. He's fairly certain that he will be returning his ring and sent back to Nalor. Even thousands of sectors away, Avalon knows that his heart had been left behind on Earth. He is so comfortably numb he couldn't say with confidence that he really cared what happened to him.

He's keeping on his toes though - Avalon knows that traveling is dangerous. Despite his speed, he's all but helpless. He may not care what the Lanterns on Odym do with him, but he'd rather not become space-worm food.

Healing Process @ 10:51 pm

[info]healingbug:

Josh shifts slightly on his perch and sighs. It's dark out but he doesn't care. The healer's in Henry's backyard, up in a tree and in a relaxed position. He's got the hood of his sweatshirt up and is just staring up at the stars through the leaves. He can sense who's inside and he fights the urge to tear up again. He's just thankful his powers got rid of the telltale signs that he'd been crying earlier.

"Maybe I should just go tonight. What do you think?" he asks a cat that's perched in the tree with him. The feline yawns, stretches, and then walks away. Josh just sighs again.

Compassion's Firm Hand @ 06:27 pm

[info]lantern_kid:

Henry's been gone a few hours. A flight around the asteroid belt has helped him clear his mind. He's hoping Avalon's better now, and less prone to fly off the handle over these perceived slights.

Henry's still upset by some of the stuff Avalon said. But he's calm now, and he's willing to forgive and forget.

He phases in through the wall to the living room, shifting his clothes back to normal. "Blue? Josh? Dad? Kat? I'm home!"

One last ray of Hope... @ 07:32 pm

[info]bluelantern:

After his rather unpleasant conversation with Henry, Avalon is sore and hurting. He feels like his chest is bleeding out all of his life, and every breath is an agony. What is coming now, what he must do before leaving is somehow just as much, if not more painful than his fight with Henry. It makes Avalon feel sick to his stomach, and he wrestles with it all day as he readies himself.

After packing all his things that Henry had so kindly bought him away in the guest room, with shirts and clothing and what have you neatly put away where they would belong. He then summons up his Blue Lantern uniform and goes in search of Josh. It's broad daylight and he doesn't even care if a civilian sees him.

Hope Crushed @ 04:18 pm

[info]lantern_kid:

Henry sighs as he glides into his room. Felicity was one crazy bitch. Hopefully, the Oans can do something to help her regain her sanity. But those who protect love shouldn't be setting out black rings or making deals with psychic gorillas just to assure that love happens the way she wants it to.

He stretches after the long space flight, stretching his neck. He should probably check in on Avalon. He steps out of his room, goes down the hall to the first guest room, and knocks.

Crumbling walls.. @ 12:19 pm

[info]bluelantern:

Henry had gone to take Felicity back to Oa and ensure that she was dealt with properly, leaving Avalon in charge back on Earth to get everything settled into place. This was a job that Avalon hadn't minded in the slightest - he was happy to serve as Henry's second and see to it that the mess was cleaned up and that everyone was in one piece. Avalon loved Henry's friends, and even though he might not have known everyone, he was still careful to spend a bit of time with each Hero, making sure that they were in a good mental state and were solidly safe to return home.

Once he had seen everyone off, he turned at last to Katima, and offered her a small and tire smile. "I am glad that you did not find injury, Sister." he said softly, the softest ghost of sadness about his emotions. Avalon was empathic as well - he could mask himself from broadcasting what he felt, and had been doing so since that night that he'd gone flying with Josh. Avalon simply didn't feel that he needed to bother Katima with what he was feeling.

"I'm glad that you and Henry came in time, though. That was terrible." he murmured.

The Evening After: @ 11:05 pm

[info]lantern_kid:

Henry and Katima spent much of the day in bed. Eventually, however, they needed to get out of bed, and he's invited Katima to come with him to get a bite to eat.

He's helped her disguise herself with the powers of the ring so that she looks human, and taught her how to place the battery-staff in a pocket dimension, the way he does with his own battery.

As they step out of the ice cream shop, he gives her a hip-bump. "So. What do you think of Earth food?"

Shopping @ 06:47 pm

[info]grape_taffy:

Allanah is her mother's daughter sometimes and that "sometimes" often involves clothes.  She will happily explain - in detail - the difference between eggplant and aubergine.  She knows the importance of designers and prefers fostering smaller ones.  Perhaps most importantly, she prides herself on being able to find great clothes for any allowence level.

Most of the clothes she finds aren't for herself, which is common.  In her well-stufed bags are clothes for Keith, because being a rich white boy and dressing in hip hop clothing still makes you look like Vanillia Ice.  Cait is hoooooopeless, so hopfullyl her (and her boy) will like the gold mini-dress she found.  Jai and Iris have some breathable shirts that don't look like gym clothes.  Dan has a few ties that actually compliment his skin tone.  Her and Dad now have another set of comfy Nick & Nora PJs.  The new guy is going to be confused by the job interview shirts, but he'll cope.  Henry's picks look great on, but his tastes run to "after hours," clothing.  Sometimes, you have to be practical.

What You Can't Find In Ivy Town... @ 08:39 pm

[info]sonoftheatom:

It's a nice day out today. Nice enough that the sunshine tempts Dinadan to carry his books outside and do his homework there instead of in his bedroom or in the lab. The birds (not over his head, so they can't poop on him or his books) are singing and the breeze is rustling through the leaves of nearby bushes (which are not full of bugs that may try to crawl into his ears unexpectedly), and he is wearing a sunhat in case he falls asleep.

Life is good.

He covers a yawn with his hand and turns the page, idly scribbling away on his scratch paper.

(no subject) @ 05:31 pm

[info]first_son:

Jon spends a lot of time up here, just above the clouds where he's hidden from most viewers, even in Metropolis, where sometimes people do look up. But with X-Ray vision, he can look down up on the world, just watching people move by far below.

Marathon Girl @ 06:38 pm

[info]imperiousamazon:

It's a nice sunny day and Corinna is taking advantage of it. She is in shorts and a tank top and is running. She thinks nothing of the fact that people can see her leg since she isn't wearing her boots that go up high enough to hide the injury from the world.

It actually doesn't look that bad. No one should be able to guess there is something wrong with her leg. She is just going to make a round of one of the residential zones in San Fransisco. Then once she is done she supposes she will go out for a short swim somewhere. The day is quite lovely after all.

Star City Escapade @ 03:37 pm

[info]sonic_arrow:

He stood down the street with a trick arrow nocked on his longbow.  Keith had a pickpocket in his sights.  Ready.  Aim.  Fire!  The arrow whizzed through the arrow and the tip opened up into a boxer's glove.

"Ugh!"

The pickpocket was nailed in the back of the head.  Another trick arrow nailed him in the back of the knee, and he buckled to the ground.  "Hahaha!" Archer, as Keith aptly named himself, started down the street to recover the stolen goods.

Moonlight over Gotham @ 02:49 pm

[info]newimprovedbat:

Batman was on patrol by himself this evening. Which was just as good, as he was still irked over having been "assigned" a Robin.

His 'sidekick' wasn't with him tonight, though. Tonight Batman was on his own, gliding over the rooftops of Gotham.

Landing on top of a building across from Gotham's First National bank, Batman activated the night-vision on his mask. There'd been rumors of a break-in.

Open Waters @ 12:01 pm

[info]deep_sea_sword:

AJ is currently swimming north on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Ever since Cthulu was stopped, he has had much more time to himself. Henry's party a few days ago was the last time he had seen another person, but he preferred exploring the vast seas which stretched on for miles. AJ had grown up his whole life living in an aquarium learning about the oceans and all the creatures in it, but had never before been allowed to explore the world. Now was his chance to do that, while still searching for his father, of course.

Right now he's far below the surface, and it is quite dark, though his night vision helps. He sees the skeleton of a blue whale, stripped clean by sharks and hagfish and other scavengers. Other than that, the are is mostly rocky and barren, with the ridge line high above him like a mountain.

Poor Planning @ 04:24 am

[info]healingbug:

Josh really should have brought a map or asked directions.  He's a little lost today in Coast City. He volunteered to go pick up a couple things at the store while Henry was at school and Ava flying about. Of course he doesn't realize that he has no idea where he's going until he's out in the city.

"I...really need to think things through better," he remarks to himself as he walks down the street. He supposes he can just sense his way to Henry or Ava and they'll help him out but he doesn't want to be a bother. "Let's see," he mutters, looking around as he walks.

Racing the Clock @ 11:37 pm

[info]dareyoutorun:

Jai West's life is pretty awesome right now. He's got good grades, cool friends, he's a hero, and best of all, he has a hot date on Friday night with Traya Smith. Life is pretty good just now as he races about Keystone City in costume, helping people who cannot help themselves.

He hears a scream from a nearby alley and in moments he's there, looking for the jerk mugger he needs to deal with.

Or so he thinks....

Out and About and Attacked @ 01:31 am

[info]tiny_tornado:

Traya walked down the steps of the New York Public Library, her book bag weighed down with books.  She'd needed quite a few for her last research project for science class, which was going to be a paper on robotics.  Granted, she already had plenty of that at home, what with her dad and all, but there were also papers published by Robert Crane and Will Magnus and Niles Caulder that she hadn't read before.

A cool paper topic to write about and a date with Jai coming up.  Life was pretty dang good.

A Light in the Dark @ 06:31 pm

[info]compassionate:

Katima had been daydreaming when she felt it, the thick soul-churning conglomeration of emotions before they went entirely black.  Trouble.  She'd taken off immediately and tracked the disturbance--a brand new Black Lantern, much to her dismay.

Stop.

The utterance had captured the monster's attention at the same moment her feelings had and it turned on her, a sick smile twisting from it's razor-toothed maw...an undead Attrocitus-like being.  Fearsome.  But Katima did not know fear.  She did know faith.

Her opening shot had been very successful, summoning the void the monster now had for emotions and firing it back at him in an intense channel of black "light".  Her own feelings didn't spike and the being had expected to feed from something so the first strike was hard and he missed her, though barely, as he shot out his decaying hand to catch her throat.

Nok.

Back and forth it went before finally she had him cornered.  Had him weakened.  Had him in such a position where she could capture him...

Flesh.  Flesh.  Flesh.

The Black Lantern got in a solid swing at her, catching her on the jaw.  The pain shot anger through her and she couldn't stay it.  It was enough, enough to bolster the being who got in another blow, sending her backwards into space with some force before it turned itself and headed towards its true destination:  the nearby planet Earth.

Oh no...

She wasn't going to be able to stop him alone so she gathered up her power, her staff glowing brightly as she sent out  a message to any that would hear her....

"HELP!"
