Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

"It does, in part. There are other measures inside, but that's what the remotes are for. There are a few of my surveillance drones, but once I deactivate them, we should be good there.

Legion may be an issue, but as long as your time stop is up, we should be fine. In case I don't have the proper access code, there's a green cell on the back of his neck. Pull it out and he'll shut down." Jason says.

Savoy...he wanted to be able to run the streets, so he asked me for anything Ah could put together. But a time came when he didn't want to sacrifice manpower for certain jobs. He gave me an unlimited expense account and told me to go nuts.

Three blackouts over the course of the week and built the first one. There's one in each warehouse, which is the main reason Ah told you that no one can go into them without me." Jason tells her.

"The remote checks for three things when it's used. If you force your way past the door, that puts Legion in ready mode. If you do not deactivate the alarm system, that wakes him. If the surveillance droids aren't shut down it's too late.

Originally, he was built simply for guard duty and to provide muscle. Savoy asked me to refine the process with each one, but...when the cost became prohibitive, he told me to go back to making guns." Jason tells her, looking away.

"The last one, the one Ah made here...it's built for stealth...and to disappear." Jason says.

She was silent for a long minute. "Oh dear god. We were so set up."

After a moment she nodded. "Okay, reality check. We can store a lot of it in a dimensional pocket that we can then put in the back of the SUV and drive away with. How do we get Legion back to New York? Better question, where do we put Legion and all this stuff? We can make another trip... oh Christ I wish I could have a transport plane meet us in Shreveport."

"Ah could program him to head to a specific location to be picked up, if you want." Jason says. Yes, it would take time to make that happen, but it could be done.

"We can take and hide most of the weapons at my house until it's time to move them and send a S.H.I.E.L.D. types for all of the big stuff. Maybe you get the plane ready for tomorrow and we have everything ready to go then? Can you pull that together in a few hours, Sam?" Jason asks.

She hated that his voice echoed faith that she could conjure everything they needed and fast. This had all the makings of a trap and while she didn't think the head office would deliberately put her in a bad position, she wasn't stupid enough to think they wouldn't use her team as bait. Tech trusted as much as he could, and she had to preserve that to keep their working relationship healthy.

"I really don't want to give anybody, including S.H.I.E.L.D., a reason to search your grandmother's house. I could get a plane but I want to keep it as quiet as possible. I don't want them to know exactly how much is here. Can we get the more exotic items into the pocket and then program Legion to meet somewhere? Leave enough in crates to convince any report filed that we're transporting enhanced weaponry and your inventions."

"Ah like a woman with a plan." Jason grins. "Ah'll pull up and you do whatever voodoo you need to do, Sam."

The car moves forward toward the front gate, but stops several feet shy of it, so that the guard has to leave his post to come out to them. Of course, this annoys the guard so much that he isn't really considering anything bad happening just now.

"Name and Storage number?" the older man with thinning hair asks. His brown security uniform is extremely crisp and he has the air of someone who is used to being obeyed. He's looking at his clipboard just now, and not the pair of people in the car.

With her dark clothes, Sammy blended into the dark interior well enough that Jason was the person the guard first noticed. While his attention was on the driver, Sammy paused time to get out of the SUV and go around to the guard shack and wait for him to return after letting the vehicle inside. If there was electronic surveillance in place, she wanted the guard to be seen going back inside.

Tech gave the requested information to the guard and was let into the facility. He drove the SUV inside the gate and then stopped, pretending to look for a bit of paperwork to give Sammy the time she needed to execute her part of the plan.

The guard walks back to the guard shack, heading inside and taking off his coat, grumbling about country bumpkins and their crap.

The guard didn't see the shadowy form of the young woman lurking in a corner. He sat down at a small desk to record the entry and saw were stars when his head collided with something hard.

Sammy removed the sheet of paper from the clipboard and adjusted the guard in a more normal position as if he'd fallen asleep. Without proof, she hoped he would think he imagined it all.

She would do the same to get them out so there would be no record of their ever being in the facility.

Seconds later, Tech would find his passenger back in the seat next to him. "Let's go. We need to get out of here as fast as we can."

Jason might have jumped when Sam just appeared next to him. He would never get used to her coming out of a freeze like that one him. He smiles, though, and drives them deeper into the lot.

They go back to a free-standing building at the far Northeast corner of the facility with a single red door. Every storage unit has a red door, and there seem to be at least three garages for each building. This building has only one door, but easily as large as the ones with multiple doors.

Jason pulls up twenty feet from the door and kills the engine, then gets out, grabbing the remote from one of his pockets. He aims it at the left corner of the brown stucco building and presses the first button on the remote.

It lights up red, remains that way for several seconds, then turns green. Jason presses the second button. Again, it lights up red.

While Jason is going through these motions, Sammy might notice a small floating ball of black metal with a red sensor light making its way directly toward her.

After the third button goes green, the black ball simply floats before Sammy, studying her.

"What is thy bidding, my mistress?" it asks her.

There was no easy way to suddenly appear in front of anybody. At least the vehicle wasn't in motion?

Sammy noticed something floating toward her and turned her back on Tech to protect him while he worked. She made no move toward her weapon in case that set it off, though she was primed to slip into another temporal timeout.

When it spoke, her eyes closed briefly in relief. "Tech, tell me this is one of yours."

Jason turns around and smiles when he sees the probe droid. "Oh yep! That's mine, Fury. One of the surveillance droids Ah told you about." he says.

"Veil, stealth mode." Tech commands.

The surveillance droid vanishes from sight immediately.

"Veil, disengage stealth mode."

The little droid appears next to Tech.

"All right, Fury. One more lock to reconfigure and we're in. It'll only take a moment." he says.

A few minutes later, the door rises and lights flicker to life inside one story warehouse. A shelf on the left wall rises at least fifteen feet from the ground and stretches back at least fifty yards.

The shelves contain guns of almost every type imaginable. Pistols, automatics, shotguns, SMG's, assault and sniper rifles line the side closest to the door. Going back further comes the heavier artillery. Grenade and rocket launchers, missiles, and the like. Down at the furthest end, there is a massive gun with a harness of sorts with as sign on it.

Use only in case of tank-fire. -T

"Um...so here we are." Tech says.

"Ah could say lots of things to that, but Ah'm gonna be smart and go with the obvious one.

Hell yes, Fury. And you'll get new gear on birthdays, anniversaries and random occasions. Oh, but check those out, over there, before you say 'I do'." Jason says, pointing to center of the room.

If she looks, she'll see a sleek car that looks like some manner of futuristic Aston Martin.

" That's the hovercar. Ain't tested yet, so Ah'd like to get it back to base and do some closed circuit testing. It also needs a better power source. Savoy hated it because it didn't perform well on gas." Jason says.

"If Ah could get my hands on a renewable energy source of some kind, that car might see some use. Maybe Stark Industries has somethin'? Or Doc Richards?" he asks.

	She took three steps toward the car before bringing herself up short. And turned her back. It was really hard. "One of them should. I'll make inquiries as soon as I have a chance. Back to plan - take only the things you must have and put them in the dimensional pocket...I still can't get over you creating one. Tell me what goes and let's started." "Okay...give me just a moment to find it..." Jason says, looking around. He spots four large metallic cases on the bottom of the set of shelves directly across from the door.

"Ah think we can get most of the guns into these four. Anything else will just have to wait." he says, pulling the cases out one by one.

He drags the first one to the wall and begins loading in several different weapons, looking over what is there and then seemingly taking things at random.

"Sam, take whatever you like. You can probably get thirty-five hand guns into one of those. Otherwise, two of the heavy artillery weapons will fill it, or ten of the semi-automatics." Jason says.

"Leave one case open, though, please. Ah'll need to grab a few of the items Ah'd like to adapt into the team's gear in that."

Take what she wanted? She wanted it all! She wasn't greedy by nature, but this was so...shiny!

She took one of the cases and opened it up to begin filling it from the shelves. Once she had it done, she filled a second with the heavy artillery. The massive gun with harness down at the end was a major want if only to fire it once, but too big for this one quick grab. The next one would be far better planned.

The fourth she left unfilled, though she dragged it out for Jason to fill. "Never give a woman blanket permission to a place like this," she admonished while still looking over the offerings. "What else?"

"Said woman just asked me to marry her. Ah suppose it's okay." Jason says. Yet another inside joke that is destined never to get old.

"On the far wall over there, will please grab the gauntlets on the second row, along with with small D-Cell Battery looking things, please? The shock gauntlet are for me, but Ah plan to upgrade them in a way to give Walker more control when the throws his shield. Hopefully, it'll be a magnetically controlled version of Captain America's.

Ah've also got a couple of person kinetic shield generators Ah'm workin' on for our new suits, as well as a phasing unit that could possibly let us walk through walls for a short time. That one will require serious testing while Ah work out the bugs.

Finally, there's stuff Ah plan to add that will allow some of the more human members on the team to keep up with Childress in the speed and reaction-time department. Bein' able to run and shoot a bit faster might help all of us." Tech says.

"Then Ah just gotta activate Legion and tell him where to go. Estimated time of departure is eight minutes."

	She ran over to the wall to get the requested items. "You'll be getting proposals from the others in no time. Except Walker's proposal will be more in the line of setting you up with one of his women as a thank you." She handed the stuff over. "Can't send Legion to the helicarrier or the Directorate. "Problem with that is you won't have access to him." It would be so much easier if the stuff could be stashed at the hydrobase, but that was pushing the security issues.

"But, I could ask Jarvis at the Avengers mansion to let me have Legion arrive in the back out of sight as long as he stays cloaked and we get him immediately." That was doable. The Avengers mansion was public and... "Can you program delay his arrival? Say, forty eight hours? By then we should additional lab space on the ground for your inventions. We can meet him at the Avengers mansion when he arrives."
