Not clogging the filter @ 02:36 pm

[info]digthefuzz:

"Too hot..." Jake groans to the sky in general. 90+ degree weather plus humidity is bad enough for some people. But for a young man covered in fur...it's bad. As such, Jake has come out to the pool. Definitely a sign that the heat is bad...Jake took off his shirt! That's a shock. The DarkForce wielding mutant is just in bright red board shorts and floating lazily around the pool this warm afternoon.

On the Mend (open to Xers and Justin) @ 10:12 pm

[info]whosperfectnow:

There were healers at home.  More than a few had shown up when the Blackbird landed and medical staff pulled her off the aircraft.  In short order Tina had been stabilized though her injuries were even more grave than what her teammates had thought when they plucked her from the rubble in Georgia.  By the time an actual doctor got to look at her it was widely accepted that something miraculous had spared Tina Frost's life, though the doctor was able to confirm that what had actually happened was a freak surge in her control over her diamond form--her vital  organs had turned diamond inside of her.  She'd lost a lot of blood, but nothing major was damaged beyond repair and while healers could patch her up better than new there was discussion of letting some of the damage heal itself, mostly because her body was fighting the healers.

Frost's were stubborn bitches after all.

Admitted to a private hospital in the city, Tina rested comfortably in her own room.  She was irritated, though.  The news pissed her off and the fact that her pain medication made her sleepy was another annoyance.  She missed her boyfriend.  She was lonely for her friends.  There were still lots of hours open for visits, though, and she hoped someone would show up.

And that someone would call Justin, let him know she was okay and where the hell she was.

Happy Birthday To You! (back dated to June 22nd) @ 02:47 pm

Cait left a basket of Sylvie's favorite baked goods in her room along with two pairs of leather gloves and a necklace. Cait usually didn't have much money, but what little she did have she always saved for gifts for her friends.

What If: Jake Never Knew His Father? @ 12:33 am

[info]digthefuzz:

Midnight wasn't sure what happened to his handlers. Normally they would be following him, foolishly believed he wasn't aware of them. He'd learned to keep a very close eye on the men and women that had taken him. Fifteen years ago he'd been snatched right from the airport by the men pretending to work for the government. He'd been taken to a facility where every question, disobeyed order, or sign of weakness got him pain. They trained and drilled him relentlessly, making sure he could flip, run, steal, sneak, climb, and fight. And when his abilities over DarkForce appeared, he'd been trained in those as well. They wanted a fighter. A killer. They got Midnight, a young man that had been sent to do many thing. Stealing valuable items and information, kidnapping, and even murder. And through it all, he was used to having two or more handlers that would follow him. They would never help. Only chase him down if he strayed from the mission, collect payment from whoever had bought his services, and drug him before dragging him back to the dark room he was left in when not being drilled or on an assignment.

But today there were no signs of them. No vans, no people that kept showing up no matter where he went, nothing. The whole assignment was an odd one to begin with. Go to some hotel in Upstate New York and wait for further orders to arrive. He didn't question it though, not wanting a beating. Orders were waiting for him when he woke up, resting on his nightstand. The fact that someone had slipped in and got so close to him without waking him up unnerved Midnight but he followed his orders anyway.

And now he's sneaking into the Xavier Institute. The orders had detailed how to get in without setting off the external alarms but he was on his own once inside. Dressed in that tight black uniform that covered everything but his tail and oddly shaped hands and feet, he slipped into a window that had been left open and ended up in a recreation room. Unaware of any internal alarms or telepaths that would detect his intruding, Midnight slowly began to search out the people he was supposed to attack.

Father's Day @ 01:20 am

[info]nextgen_holiday:

What Makes a Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,

He called it ... Dad

Happy Birthday To You! @ 08:19 am

[info]_tsunami_:

Rachel was one of Cait's oldest friends. They had known each other since they had been in diapers and Cait considered Rachel a sister she never had. They had even stood as maid of honor for each other when they both married Misha.

It stood to reason that Cait was not going to let Rachel's birthday pass unnoticed.

Cait wasn't exactly one to have readily available funds, but she did manage to be able to get Rachel a small gift in addition to making her a batch of her favorite cookies. The cookies and the small wrapped box containing a charm bracelet with a happiness charm were placed on Rachel's bed along with a card wishing her a happy birthday.

Gymnastic Fantastic @ 03:24 pm

[info]kidfuzzy:

Today, Mina could be found in the gym, putting herself through what could probably be called a fairly intense workout, but what she just called normal.  Numerous rings hung by cables from the ceiling, each at a slightly different height.  She grasped them with hands, feet, and tail, something with just one of those, sometimes with some combination.  Sometimes she would swing, sometimes, she would treat them more like monkey bars.

Finally reaching the end of them, she flung herself through the air toward the wall, kicking out her feet at the last second to rebound, grabbed the lowest slung ring, and started back the other way at just as frantic a pace.  At the end, she flung herself at the opposite wall, but this time adhered to it, rather than bouncing off.  She took a deep breath, pushed herself off, executed a mid-air flip, and landed on the padded floor below in a crouch.

She stood and took a bow, just in case anyone was watching.

Down in the Xavier Mansion Gym, one can find Jake on this calm Saturday afternoon. The fuzzy blue teen is dressed for a work out and jogging on a treadmill. He's got some music coming from his headphones but only one earbud's in a pointed ear.

As he jogs, Jake seems lost off in thought. This leads to accidentally tripping, falling, hitting the belt, and getting shot off the treadmill. Landing somewhat upside down, Jake blinks. "Ow..."

Lunchtime @ 05:34 pm

[info]shattered:

Melinda remains distant from her classmates, for the most part. Truth be told, she doesn't really feel like she deserves to be here with them. She knows rationally it's nonsense to feel that way, but she can't help it.

So it is that, once again, at lunchtime, she sits outside, away from the others, watching the fountain while she eats her sandwich.

Mother's Day @ 01:24 am

[info]nextgen_holiday:

Mothers are the place that we call home.
On them we rest our heads and close our eyes.
There's no one else who grants the same soft peace,
Happiness, contentment, sweet release,
Erasing nighttime tears with lullabies,
Restoring the bright sun that makes us bloom. - Anonymous

Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap (Open) @ 04:38 pm

[info]omni_absorber:

Zak rolled over off of his bed, and his the floor with a large 'clunk'.  "Uhh."  He shook his eyes and opened his eyes.  He didn't really feel anything except slightly different textures, which was odd.  He didn't put two and two together yet.  It took him awhile to get up off of the floor, and he headed into the hallways and down to the bathroom.  Some of the other students gave him strange looks.  "What'chu lookin' at?" he barked.  He also gave some angry or irritated grunts.  He didn't understand what was wrong with people that morning.

And then he looked in the mirror.  "OH SHIT!!" he shouted.  He was easily heard when he shouted.  And he had every right to.  His body had taken on the properties of different objects, without his permission.  Some of the materials his body was mimicing he hadn't touched in ages, or even on the planet.  "Shitshitshit!"

Jake strolls into the kitchen at Xavier's while humming a little tune. He'd just come from working out down in the gym and is still dressed for it, tail swaying lazily behind him. He's not using his image inducer at the moment as he's in the mansion.

Walking over to the fridge, the fuzzy young mutant starts searching around inside it for some water and maybe a nice after work out snack.
