What Makes a Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,

	If there was a day worse than mother's day, its father's day. He heads well out away from anyone, gets out the whiskey, and spends the day drinking and making toast-style curses towards the paternal donor of genetic material. (Reply to this)

	Neither Talia or her father are sentimental people. Still, like every year at this time, she combs a ton of obscure little bookstores to try and find good old mysteries, or books of occult lore or philosophy her dad doesn't have, to send it out to him in L.A. (Reply to this)

	Lucas has never really been close to his father. James was never really part of his life, and though Michael served the role of teacher, its never been the same. Father Sky, however, has been good to him. He spends the days beforehand mixing his own incense mixes, and spends much of father's day burning sweet incenses and praying out in an open area. 	Jordan sends Madison a card, and likewise makes arrangements for Mason to go home for a father-son lunch at a nice restaurant. Then he makes sure to visit Roger's grave and lay flowers on it. (Reply to this)

Casey couldn’t go home for father’s day but he did call him up and talked for over an hour in a conversion that would make almost no sense to anyone but him and his dad. He had learned his skill at talking and his wit from his father who could still easily beat him with that stuff but still trying to beat him at his own game was a lot of fun for both of them. He of course lost but if anyone ever asked he would say that he had lost on purpose even if it was a complete lie.

	Father’s day brought up sad memories about what had happened to her own father and she did when she had done every year around father’s day had two drinks one for her and one for her dad. Then she looked over her dad’s old case files to see if she could figure out what had really happened to her dad because she refused to believe what had happened to her father. (Reply to this)

	Gene sends a package containing a few little mystic trinkets home to his father for the holiday. Nothing dangerous or powerful but magic enough that he knows his father will enjoy them. He avoids calling home though, not wanting to deal with his parents trying to get him to come home again. (Reply to this)

	Giovanna had indeed been careful to remind Andrew. And on her own behalf, she had sent a card, timed carefully to arrive on the appropriate day. She knew that when he got it, she'd hear, and so there was a while that afternoon where she looked rather absent, her eyes flickering green over blue. A long, long-distance father-daughter chat. 	Zoey had been looking forward to Father's Day since she learned she had a father. She made him a card, complete with all of the Defenders and pets and glitter, and had bought him some sheet music with Mom's help. She was bouncing when Avery picked her up to spend the day with him. (Reply to this)

	Cait called her father since he was in Nova Roma with her mother. The call lasted quite some time and they talked about everything under the sun except for Aaron. Cait didn't want to tell him she had a boyfriend on Father's Day. Then she spoke to Grandfather Lucius. Then she called Grandfather William. That call only lasted a few minutes. That poor, strained cell phone in Nova Roma had a rough day, as Corey called home, too. Dad had to know about all kinds of stuff happening. Grandfather Lucius had to discuss the gardens.

Grandfather William's phone got as much strain as Corey could manage to put on it, but that was admittedly considerably less. Most important was explaining that yes, sir, he really had killed Dad's battery.

	Somehow, Father's Day, like most excuses, ends up a holiday mostly for Daniel - though its a day he and Ben spend together. He gets to co-pilot the Fantasticar for a bit, on the way out for pizza and root beer. Then they go out for ice cream before heading home for a few rounds of poker and talking over the card games. 	Harry and his Dad went out to see a movie which is what they did every Father’s day. It was a fun tradition and they weren’t about to change it just because of recent events. Afterward they went out to eat at a small family pizzeria that was really good. (Reply to this)

	Since his parents were both away at the moment on a mission, Wally spent Father's day talking with them both via a long-distance communication spell Billy whipped up. They talked for hours about various things, just enjoying the company. Eventually the 'call' was forced to end as there was super villain trouble on both ends they had to rush off to deal with.
