Names
They story goes that names -- their meanings, their personal significance in a family -- can end up having influence on a person. What do you think?

Couldn't say, myself. If I'd been a boy, Mom wanted to name me after my grandfather, Vernon Van Dyne. Dad just wanted 'Something French.' So they went with Vernique. French and before that Greek for Bringer of Victory. Same etymology as the name Bernice, so some would say I lucked out in that I didn't end up named Bernie.

I certainly like it.

I was named Maxwell as a name my parents both liked and they like Max as a good nickname too I guess they were looking towards the future when they named me. My middle name is Italian for Eagle which was a name my mom picked for me.

While my father possesses many fine qualities, creativity in names was not among them.

My name's meaning is obvious to anyone who knows my family. I am my Grandfather's grandson, and now I hold his place in the League of Assassins.

I was born on the moon. Dad thought "Luna" would be clever, as luna is the Latin term for moon.

Mom just thought my name sounded pretty, but it means morning, or the start or something new. But Asleif, apparently, means "god-heir." Which goes a long way to explaining a lot.

Mom thought Lyta was beautiful and unique. Dad wanted to name me Rose. Mom won the coin toss, but let Dad keep the Rose for my middle name.

I've never really asked why my parents picked Anastasia. I think Mom thought it was regal,or something.

I have no idea why my parents named me Maxine. They never made the time to tell me or even talk to me.

Well, it's one of the many Mary variants, which means bitter.
Not one anyone's necessarily eager to live up to for translation alone, there.

Hope was something that Father always had a lot of when he was on Apokolips. He thought it was only fitting to name his and Mother's first child after something they had always had in their lives.
