Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

	Sammy had spent a few minutes with Evelyn assuring the woman again she would look after Jason and make sure he saw daylight more than once a day. Jason found her sitting on the steps patiently waiting. Her small bag of items was already in the SUV. "I'm ready." She rose and stretched. 	"If you want pancakes, we can stop for those, baby." Jason offers, going to the car. He goes and opens her door on the driver's side and lets her get in. 	Sammy smiled at him as she turned the key in the ignition. "Thank you. I slept very well last night. The pillow was warm and cuddly." It was almost sad to leave the farmhouse and she hadn't know it existed a few days ago. She pulled onto the road and headed for the highway. "Jessica thinks you work for the FBI." 	Jason nods. "Yeah, Gran and I thought that would be better than telling her the truth. More believable, too. Jessica's a great girl and bright, but Bon Temps has been her world since she was a kid. "I think if it comes to that, you need to talk to the others and let them know why you want to keep all talk of SHIELD away from Jessica. They're not mean spirited people, they'll understand if they know."

She nodded. "The building arrangement I'm thinking of will have separate apartments for anyone who wants it, plus a separate team common floor. It would be simple to keep her off it because she won't have access anyway."

"Okay, then that works for me. She heard about S.H.I.E.L.D's role in Jake's incarceration and she's decided the organization set him up somehow. I'm gonna tell her the truth eventually, but I'd like for it to be after Hunter is born and she's had a chance to recover.

Maybe even after I get her some visitation with Jake. Maybe she'll have calmed down by then." he says.

What happened at the house was certainly a worst-case scenario, but Gran being there elevated that a few notches. "I'm sure I'll still visit the South on occasion. When I can't get good pancakes anywhere else." She chuckled softly. "This is what happens when I drive. I say provocative things and you can't do anything about it until we stop. Good planning, I'd say."

It was also a good way to divert his brain from the visit ahead in Leavenworth. No sense for him to worry about it all the way there.

"I can provide persuasion for the making of omelets. My ways shall have you making them any time I ask...once we create a kitchen for you." Jason says. That went on his mental to-do list.

There is silence for a bit and then...

"99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer...
you take one down and pass it around,
98 bottles of beer on the wall!" Jason sings.

He will let then sing as long as Sam lets him until she decides to join in and they'll sing together.
