So...who gave you The Talk and how did they do it?

Also, have they ever given your significant other The Talk?

...Having 25 years of memories downloaded into one's brain at the age of 8 precludes several conversation necessities.

We gave Scotty a book.

That certainly makes it a little easier for both parties involved.

Mum told me the basics of reproduction when I was pretty wee. She never had to do more than that because, well. Padded Cell by 11. Probably not going to worry about dating.

Mother explained the basic biology when I was very young, the time-appropriate information just before I reached puberty, and the 'Your Father Will Frighten 99% of Boys Beyond Recovery' when I was old enough to date.

I got the same, except no 'Your Father Will Frighten 99% of Boys Beyond Recovery' I have a feeling my Dad would just make them disappear.

Mom gave me the First-Grade Talk and the Fourth-Grade Talk. By the time dating time came around, there was just quick confirmation that I understood the safety issues. And I don't mind the occasional bit of advice as long as the phrases 'your dad and I' or 'Hank and I' are not involved.

Daddy'd never dream of trying to sit a boy down and lay out rules. It'd be implying I couldn't keep them exactly where I wanted them.

Deej's mom was really helpful on clarifying a few things. Miss Vangey's the best.

Mom gave me the talk at all the usual points.

...at the last one, she said if I ever used my Asking Nicely on a boy, I'd better make sure he couldn't prove it in court.

I...really didn't know what to say to that.

Dad breezed through the basics and got right down to the warnings. Complete with claws and examples of what would happen to me if I didn't pay attention to the safety concerns. I think there might have been some mumblings about redheads being bad for my health.

Mom just said she was too young to be a grandmother.

I had all the UUA-certified Sex Ed Sunday School classes, and some private conversations with Mom. I kind of sat in on some of Gail and Jane's too, and what Clara's had so far.

Mom made Dad give me The Talk. He hemmed and hawed, and told me I should shoot a boy if he ever said anything Dad wouldn't like. Then he took me to the armory and let me pick out a couple of new guns. With ammo!

Mom took pity on us both and talked to me.

For most women, something shiny is a diamond or silver.

For Fury, it's a handgun. From now, when I have bad news or a touch subject to broach, I'll provide her with a handgun first.

I'm certain there is a flaw in this logic, but I cannot discern where it is.

Mom said that if I wanted a new gun I should ask Grandpa Nick about boys and sex.

Afterward she and I had the Talk at the firing range while I tested my new toy.

I asked Dad to see if he had anything to add to it, and some ammo, but he just turned red and said I was too young to think about boys.
