Giving Thanks
"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." JFK

In America today is a day for being thankful for the things in people's lives. Today was a day to celebrate family, friends, prosperity and health with food, family and friends. It is a time to reflect on what is important us and to recognize the gratitude we hold for having those things in our lives.

Cait of course helped with the food preparation. She had helped with the baking side of things. Pies, bread, rolls, and even some cookies. Cait made sure to make Aaron's favorite pie. It was a day long project and there were many hands in the kitchen.

In the end the feast was large and when it was all done, they gathered around the large table in the dining room.

Izzy helped out with the cooking where she could. She always helped out back at home, so why would she not help out here?

Ellie stayed out of the way of the kitchen. She behaving herself!

That, and she'd already been kicked out of the kitchen for trying to sneak a slice of apple pie.

Defenders

Thanksgiving was always one of Syd's favorite holidays, but now it meant a lot of work on top of really good food. The care and feeding of the Defenders was a lot of work and for a big meal like Thanksgiving it was even more work.

Four turkeys, three hams, two ducks, and a rack of lamb where all prepared along with large amounts of the usual sides. Five apple pies, five pumpkin pies and three cherry pies were also made. Along with ten loaves of bread.

The Defenders had appetites of godly proportions.

Grace helped out Sarah and Syd with the food prep and getting everything set up where she could. Her first holiday with the team, and she wanted to be useful.

Zoey of course did her job as the Defenders Official Taste Tester. She made sure everything was good and when it was ready.

She also had her Christmas list to go over with the Defenders and mail to Santa.

Dawn had wished the other Defenders well on the holiday, but would actually be spending it with her parents.

She had a... lot of explaining of things to do.

Jarvis of course had prepared the annual Avengers feast, though this year he had recruited some help. He was getting on in years.

The meal consisted of three turkeys, two hams, and two racks of lamb along with the usual sides. Apple, cherry and pumpkin pies were for dessert.

The spread was put out on the large table in the dining room.

Thunderbolts
[info]anyastark
2010-11-24 10:04 pm UTC (link)
They had been invited down to celebrate with the Avengers, but the Thunderbolts would stay in Cambridge and have their own celebration. Anya would head down to New York later to spend some time with her family, but she would share a meal with her other family. Her team.

The meal was catered of course. The Thunderbolts were short in the cooking skills department.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, green beans were followed up by apple, cherry and pumpkin pies. With vanilla ice cream for on top.

Feeling a mixture of adventurous and charitable, Vincent had volunteered in advance to handle the turkey for dinner. By means of deep frying.

It was a task that called for precise measurements and constant attention. The latter wasn't something he genuinely gravitated towards, which was why he chose it.

Still, careful research seemed to have produced something that appeared by all accounts to be cooked as it should. As the Fantastics gathered for dinner, he proudly set the turkey down on the table.

While Thanksgiving wasn't celebrated in England, there were enough members on Excalibur to hold a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Tamara had made a long distance phone call the night before to ask for any cooking tips. She helped out with the cooking, though she'd made sure to call out to order dessert.

Quinn wasn't going to go near the cooking, but he did run out to pick up desserts and beer. A meal wasn't a meal without beer. He also picked up wine for the girls.

Like every year, the Parkers had Thanksgiving at their house. May helped her mom and Aunt May by setting the food out on the table. She wasn't sure what their plans were for the day, but she'd invited Mel and Kelly over if they wanted to.

Ben wasn't sure if Kassia could make it, but he'd invited her anyway, just in case her parents were still out of town. He pokes May in the shoulder or the stomach, or the ribs every time he walks by her.

He's trying to be the Annoying Little Brother today, just because he can...though May's Spidey-Sense might feel a little weird at home.

Supervillains didn't believe in holidays. Neither did SHIELD. Her grandmother was having a turkey dinner later, and Alice was going to go, but first, there was monitor duty. She sipped on a cup of coffee.

Jason also goes to the monitor room to check out a few things. Thinking he'll be alone, he's already talking to his grandmother about Thanksgiving.

"Yes, Gran, I will tell Sammy to have a Happy Thanksgivin' for you." he says, his Southern accent clear and audible as he walks in. When he sees Alice, he stops short.

"Um, Gran, can I call you back later? Okay, love you, too." he says, all trace of his accent vanishing.
